Nice clean place we were just off of a plane and decided to eat here. I ordered chili verde and my wife ordered nachos. The atmosphere is typical Mexican dinning. Bright colors of blues and greens. Ribbons and hats and piñatas. The service is good but not great. They take a while to get back to you. The nachos looked good but lacked real flavor and became a mess real fast. The chili verde was just ok. There was a nice spice and a lot of it but the tortillas felt store bought and so did the beans and rice. The meat looked a little too consistent to not be made in house it tasted store bought and then put together in the restaurant. Sorry but we will not return and are struggling to find good authentic Mexican food here in Virginia. read more

I love supporting local businesses. I popped in, placed a Togo order. Staff was super friendly. Tops for that. The food is shit. Got a burrito that was covered with some gross tangy sauce and the beef had ZERO flavor. Hard tacos, meh same tasteless beef. Forgot my onions and cilantro on my hard and soft tacos. Got a cheese sauce. That was okay. Fajita nachos, tasteless, tough and not great. Chips and salsa ordered as well, half a bag of chips and a half of a ramekin of salsa/pico. I wanted this to be great, it's not. The food is barely mediocre at best. Oh and it's expensive. Just go to Mexico, its better and more affordable. read more

Kids burger looked burnt, cheese dip with chorizo was really runny, so I requested regular cheese dip and was charged 4.99 for a tiny bowl. We had to change tables because a flickering light was giving us a headache and would definitely cause somebody with sensory issues would have a seizure. Had the fajitas that was served on a plate. Wasn't even thinking when I tried to move the plate... it was so hot it burned my fingers. Was not a fan of the chicken. I was in the mood for nachos & beer last night, so I made a spontaneous trip to Julios. On the menu, Nachos are listed beneath Appetizers, and have a few options, Cheese, Beans, Beef, Chicken, Chorizo, Nachos Fajita, and Nachos Rico. Sort of like pick your toppings as one does with pizza. I asked if they all included Sour Cream? No, but Nachos listed under Chefs Suggestions do. So I looked and found Nachos Supreme $8.99 ("Cheese Nachos loaded with beef, chicken and beans topped with lettuce, sour cream, tomato and cheese"). So I ordered the Nachos Supreme, and on a whim I ordered Chimichanga Cheesecake for dessert. Thirty minutes later I was at home digging into Nachos. Not very exciting; and didn't require beer on the side. They were very good, just rather unimaginative. Next, the Chimichanga Cheesecake. It was like a deep fried Kolache, dusted with Cinnamon-Sugar, served à la mode and topped with colorful sprinkles. It was super-good, super-sweet, and I'd love to do it again. read more

After leaving the airport and getting slightly lost we were looking for food nearby and came across this place. It has a pretty a small parking lot but we were able to find a spot quickly. The food was good and prices extremely fair. Service was also pleasant. I did order the cheese sauce which I typically do at every Mexican restaurant. My mother ordered the chile verde and I go the carne asada which was a large portion. (I do recommend getting the cheese sauce to smother the steak :)). I want expecting much but I got more. The food is fresh and delicious. The service has been great and as with most Mexican restaurants, the food comes out quick. Let me start with positive points Julios is a feast for the eyes, Carved hand painted Chairs, booths available, oytdoorseating weather permitting & the best tables ever, hand painted wit Native Birds, flowers, magnificent colors. Cozy but not cramped, Salsa was awesome' chips were warm. Pico are Gallo perfection, Language barrier was first issue, I don't take away for that. I would love to learn Spanish and I have never met a non native English speaker that didn't want to improve their own language skills, but this is IMHO only. we ordered Chef Suggestions Tacos De Carne Azada 9.99. 3 soft flour tortillas with side Pico de Gallo & beans. I substituted rice. my dining partner ordered Beef Taco Salad. I felt bad and shared one of my steak tacos, so beef would be visible. I had to order shredded cheese which came in salsa dish. EAT FAST. Caveat: I could be wrong, but years in the kitchen, cook & dietician in US Army and many years working in VA eateries; only 1 thing I know that will make warm tasty meat hard & cold in 5+/- minutes, Microwave. I was ecstatic with first half of first taco, but, wondering if I could get a box trying to chew the rest, LET ME WARN YOU, I DRINK MAybe once a year. I know Virgin drinks intimately, I ordered a Pina Coloda- it is possible bartender waved bottle close to glass. Due to infrequent alcohol intake- I KNOW difference. there are NO prices for drinks on menu. 7.25 was charged, Miller Lite was ordered by dining partner, Total Bill with Tip 48 pricey, pricey pricey!!!!!!!! Went with my parents, grandma, and sister on a very crowded and busy Friday night. Got seated immediately and i could tell only 2 waiters were working that night. They did really well with drinks, chips and salsa. Food came out quick and the portions were gigantic. The bill was very reasonable for 6 people with alcohol. The parking lot for this location is kind of in front of the grocery store strip mall. Of all the restaurants on the row - they have the best curb appeal. We went in and the young one loved the colorful decor. Service was the best I had in a long time. Super friendly, hit us on refills of everything at the perfect time. Ok salsa and decent tortilla chips. The menu was simple and there was a decent selection. I got this burrito that was carne asada, but smothered in this white nacho cheese. At first glance, it looked terrible. However, I was delighted at how tasty this thing was... I'm sure I'm going to have a heart attack from the cheese clogging my arteries, but it was addictively good. The $$$ on the survey is totally false, this is a $-$$ place for sure. We had a three-top and got out the door in under $30 with fountain drinks. We make a pitstop on this exit between home and Williamsburg and I think we will hit this place again. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Trust me. Horrible food. Tasted like microwaved mess. I ordered a simple burrito, I believe a number five. My food was warm, not hot. The burrito fell apart with one cut of the cheap tortilla. Red "sauce" on top tasted like cheap off brand watery salsa. Overall it was just a lazy-prepared lunch. Great Mexican food! We were on the way back to Richmond from new kent and decided to stop here for lunch. The service was a little slow but the food was great! Finally, a new Mexican restaurant moved into the old Pepito's spot... Of course I was skeptical because of how incredibly AWFUL Pepito's was. IT IS LOVELY! I love the decor, very brightly colored chairs which reminded me of my recent trip to Cancun, decent service, GREAT salsa & "white sauce", and the food is awesome. My mom is such a Mexican food critic, and she LOVED it! The true test is the Magarita, which I'm waiting on...since they have not yet gotten their ABC license. I will preface my review with one thing: We choose to try a new Mexican restaurant on Cinco De Mayo. With that being said, let me start with the positive. The restaurant is very nice looking, with authentic decor. The food was pretty good, not amazing but certainly enjoyable. On the flip side, we waited almost an hour from the time we were seated until our food arrived (I attribute this to the holiday, they were very busy). But two things I cannot ignore. 1) The servers were eating behind the bar while working, I know being extremely busy can result in not getting a break but eating while serving food is unsanitary. 2) They clean the tables with WINDEX!!! No bleach...no form of cleaner...just plain Windex. For this reason alone I am not willing to return to this restaurant. read more

I love the food! I've only eaten inside once, but the place is very inviting and clean, which is important to me. Staff is very accommodating. I've ordered takeout several times and their food ready estimates are always accurate. I've never seen a packed house, but it's probably my timing. They also have a nice patio outside with seating for warmer days. This is one of the few restaurants I frequent in New Kent because the food is so delicious. If you love Mexican food, stop by! They even offer corn tortillas for an even more authentic Mexican taste. read more
