Today we drove down from Long Island, the gps took us a different way. Before we got to the resort we decided to eat early. I googled search and saw we were close to Don Miguel Mexican restaurant. Being that I write many reviews, I always check a review before I go. They have an excellent rating! As "soon" as we sat, The waitress was there with chips and salsa.... Perfect start. I ordered the steak fajitas (unbelievably delicious and huge) and my wife ordered the Arroz camarones. The 2 dishes were so delicious, hot and plenty!!!! My fajitas had a separate dish for the rice beans and lettuce. Everything was perfect. Theresa is an amazing waitress, taking excellent care of her customers! The food is delicious, the service excellent and the feel of the restaurant is very festive! I got lucky picking Don Miguel's! read more

Very small restaurant, but the food is good. Excellent service. We also like the sangria and the plain margaritas.

Don Miguel's is a gem! Extensive menu, friendly service, great prices, and delicious food. For starters, the chips are thick, which is rare for the free chips at most Mexican restaurants these days. Consider getting a side of queso to dip them in! They happily bring out more chips upon request too. The menu is extensive with awesome vegetarian options. The portions are great, especially for the price. The beans here are 10/10, especially as a side to the vegetarian option for added protein. Our waitress Veronica made our experience. She came to the table quickly after we sat, was continually attentive, and very personable. I can't wait to come back here and try more options off their huge menu! read more

The food was ok . The drinks were not . The margaritas were too sour , too much sugar and not much alcohol . The service was outstanding

The food was average. Tacos were very good. Taco salad with shrimp was excellent. The salsa was very mediocre. The chips were fresh and crispy. The margaritas were not good. We returned a couple of them. The service was excellent. Our server, Douglas, was amazing. We were a difficult group, but he served us patiently, and professionally, with a great smile! Thank you! read more

Don Miguel Mexican Restaurant - Cute place!! - Mexican Near Me - Providence Forge, Virginia

This is a great "American" version of Mexican food restaurant. It's always busy. The food is consistent. The staff are pleasant. It has a great vibe/atmosphere. It's very clean. They really stepped up during the Covid shut downs by offering delivery services which included refreshing margaritas. The only problem is finding their menu online. Their menu is extensive but you really have to know the exact name of the burrito you want to order or you will get the wrong thing. That's a legit example. A burrito special is different from a burrito deluxe. read more

Health code violations across the board. Food looked awful but after seeing the lack of sanitary procedures (and seeing the filthy bar) just paid and left. The menu smelled like mold. read more

Don Miguel Mexican Restaurant - Don't stop by - Mexican Near Me - Providence Forge, Virginia

My experience did not live up to my expectations. First of it's a beautiful building right off the highway and there's plenty of parking In their parking lot. I went on a Monday night and it was busy but I was able to secure a table outside with no wait. The chips, white sauce, and salsa were SO good. But we sat around and practically finished our basket before we had to flag down our sever to place our orders. After that we just had minor problems with the service, orders being wrong, and the food being cold. I hope that this was just our experience, but I most likely won't be returning. read more

Love this place. We probably get this order about once a week. My favorite is the chile verde, husband gets the carne nortena, my daughter needs a 12 step program for her addiction to the cheese sauce she gets the enchiladas suizas, also pictured are chimichangas, nachos fajitas, and nachos with beans and chicken. read more

My family enjoyed our meal. We stopped randomly. Wanted to get dinner before finishing our drive back to Norfolk. Good service. Bathrooms and restaurant clean. Pork Belly Tacos were delicious. My kiddo enjoyed her beef taco, rice and beans. And my husband like his steak burrito. read more

We met a friend a Don Miguel's. The service was excellent. Our food was great! I ordered the Chili Verde and it was really good! My husband and our friend both really enjoyed their food also! It can get a bit loud. At times we all had a hard time hearing each other, maybe it's our age!! If you haven't been I highly recommend! I have never been disappointed. read more

Delicious and a great value, too! We had fajitas and pollo fundido...both are recommended.

Good Mexican food at a really decent price. Service was great and the atmosphere is nice.

Food and service were awesome Our meals were out in less than 5 minutes The atmosphere was true Mexican read more

As always, immediate seating is the highlight of this establishment. Unfortunately, several years have passed since living in the area and the food quality has drastically declined. My dinner companion was eager for the taco supremes. When I asked her how they were she commented on the lack of lettuce, the overwhelming amount of sour cream, and that the taco was tasteless. As for my experience: The complimentary chips were overcooked, the salsa tasted bland and improperly prepared. The entree did not get better; the enchilada was dry and the chile relleno had little flavor except the over cooked sauce. Beans and rice were the highlight. My thoughts of returning are nonexistent read more

Excellent, always consistent and we have been there at least 100 times! Take out routine always works GREAT!

I am not sure what people see in this place. The tables and menus had a smell of mold or mildew. The drinks were horrible and the food was not just as bad. In addition they got our order wrong. We tried it, and quickly paid. We well not be back. read more

Love this place!! Best salsa and seafood chimichanga!! Great service!! Delicious margaritas!!

We ordered take out for lunch and they did an excellent job packaging the food! It was ready to go, nice and hot, plenty of chips and salsa, and all the necessities to enjoy a great lunch at work! I highly recommend Don Miguel Mexican Restaurant, great service and very nice people. read more

Good food, and good service. Unfortunately it was very bland, and lacked much flavor at all. I even tried asking for their hotter salsa, but even that was bland and certainly not hot in any way. The place was pretty busy on a Saturday lunch hour, so I was surprised the food was so tasteless. One star due to less-than stellar cleanliness and the employee that shared the men's rest room with me must have been in an awful hurry and chose not to wash his hands. Yuk. read more

Great food and pleasant servers. Service has been a bit slower lately, but it's probably due to staffing shortages. Not a fancy place, but a good local standby. read more

Don Miguel's has never disappointed! Go there once a week and enjoy fresh, hot, wonderful food with great service from all the employees! The environment is so joyful there and always puts a smile on my face! read more

What a lovely little place! Hubby had passed this restaurant a few times and was curious, so he brought me for lunch. Big red nicely decorated building. The food was amazing! We each had the pina rellena which is this wonderfully marinated chicken, peppers, onions and pineapple served in half a pineapple shell. It's served with rice, sour cream, Pico, and tortillas. Such yummy flavors all melded together. Good service though they were busy. Highly recommend! read more

This place is always poppin. Food never misses and we order almost once a week at this point. Service is consistently fast for PU. My favorite from them is the Carnitas platter. Somethin bout the way they do it with the onions reminds me of my grandmas cooking. Love it. read more

After repeating the order 10x (not kidding) and getting the order wrong 3 times.. I gave up and just took whatever they gave me. I cannot believe how bad the service is. Came in on a lunch break for a quick meal was seated pretty fast, but after I didn't receive any service, both waiters walked past me on many occasions and didn't even get my drink order. The manager finally realized that I had been sitting waiting but by that time I was already ready to leave. P.S. I seen a roach crawl on my table as I was sitting waiting for my drink. read more

Wonderful service and the paella was huge and very tasty. Even the leftovers were divine.

Having moved to the area recently from Northern VA, where there were plenty of good Mexican restaurants to choose from, we realized quickly that we had to travel a bit to Richmond or Williamsburg to find ..... well .... basically everything. The exception is a great place for Mexican food. Don Miguel's would be on the top of our list back in NoVA, let alone Providence Forge. It's always packed, yet we get seated quickly every time (ok, perhaps not on May 5th for some reason ;). Servers are typically great. Serving sizes are an incredible value as the prices are very reasonable. My wife and I have brought out of town guests there many times and I would say we eat there about once a week or so. We have also done carry out plenty of times as well. This place deserves a 5 star and living nearby in a nice golf community, I can honestly say the neighborhood has plenty of regulars we see there as well. If I forgot to mention the food, it's because I am trying to avoid going back after we just left. It's that good to us. If you have never been there it is a great looking place, lit up in a very festive way at night with lots of parking. Enjoy! read more

They have really yummy food and huge portions. The rice is SO good, I could just eat it with chips and call it a day. The service is always great, nice people on top of their game. read more

Let's start out with the hostess she was rude and didn't say anything when we first walked in then walked away then came back and said why didn't you follow me? So it started off bad. Then their margarita maker was broken so we couldn't get anything frozen which sucked. So we ordered our food and it came out like it was unseasoned and was thrown on the plate. My wife ordered tres leches cake and the server told us it was store bought and wasn't worth it. I may come back but the hostess needs to have a change in attitude. Food wasn't that bad tho. read more
