Great folks & food. Generous portions with reasonable prices. Everything I've ever ordered from here was delicious! read more

I live here in this town and really really want this Mexican restaurant to be amazing but it just isn't Now the beans are very good Rice is just not my favorite, bland and almost taste like it's out of a like pre seasoned box kit. Mexican rice is so easy to make so I don't really understand. Add some garlic onion powder tomato sauce do it up right. I got a chicken chimichanga and the chicken inside was literally just chopped up chicken. It had no flavoring whatsoever. It's my understanding. This restaurant has been here for a very long time so I don't know if I am just ordering the wrong food or what I will give it another shot. A lot of people seem to like the fajitas so maybe they have got the fajitas down! read more

I stopped in for lunch on a rainy Tuesday. The place is not jumping. There were three other people eating and by the time I left 2 more had come. They are in a little strip beside another restaurant. There is a whole page of lunch specials to order from. They ranged in price up to 9.95. My meal came with the 2 enchiladas rice and lettuce. I don't eat sour cream so I didn't get it. I also had a fountain soda. The tota was less then $10. The meal was pretty good. There was a lot of chicken, so I was full about half way through. The chicken was moist but a little bland. It could have used a little something more for flavor. There was sauce and cheese on top. Maybe I could have asked for a little more sauce. It was supposed to have Pico de Gallo but I guess when I said no sour cream they left that off. All in all not bad for a quick lunch. I was in and out real fast. The waitress doesn't seem to bring the bill to the table. I saw others get up when they were done and pay at the register near the bar. So I followed suit when I was done with my meal. read more

DELICIOUS!!!! Stopped in for my boyfriends birthday, server was super sweet and the food was amazing!!! Definitely recommend!!!

We regularly order the fajita grande to go and split it between us. Comes with tortilla chips and salsa, rice, refried beans and lettuce with sour cream all on the side. read more

El Ranchero is a great little restaurant. The food is good and the service are always nice.

This is our Friday night hang out spot with family. There's always a good meal to be had at this location and the margaritas never disappoint. read more

I would have given a quarter of a star but it wouldn't let me. I've had better tacos from a Food Lion taco kit. Dont waste your money or your hunger. first off, I damn near broke a tooth on the metal shaving that was in my salsa. The salsa has no flavor and tastes like red water. The chips are stale. The rice looks like something from an 5 minute rice box. The meat in the burrito is dry and has a weird taste to it. Im pretty sure the "cheese sauce" on the burrito is high gloss white spray paint. My son's lunch (a soft taco) was wet and the hamburger has 0 spice, looks like it came from a caulk gun and pretty sure it's fake. Do not recommend. I'd rather goto Taco Bell... read more

We had a party of 6 adults and stopped here just because we were in the area and saw it had good reviews. We were not disappointed! It's a shame there weren't more customers. I shared an enchiladas platter and a grande quesadilla with another person. Both were large portions and delicious! We all enjoyed our meals and it would be a regular stop if we lived in the area. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean with interesting tables and booths. Free chips and 2 salsas were served immediately. read more

This is my go to take out spot when I'm home. The owners are very friendly and the service is fast. The food is middle of the road. Nothing fancy. But it's pretty consistent. Though, I've had some dry chicken in the taquitos before. I tend to stay with beef or shrimp items. Mom always gets the taco salad in a fried shell. I get fajitas or chilaquiles. We love the chips and salsa and queso dip. Can't complain. read more

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant - Margarita with chips and salsa - Mexican Near Me - West Point, Virginia

Took my family there. None of us finished our food. Some of the worse mexican food I have eaten, anywhere. The place was filthy, all our menu's had some sort of dirt on them, from large spots of salsa to chip residue. GROSS!!! Should have gone with my first inclination and left. Additionally we were seated my someone not wearing a mask, ok they were wearing it, but the whole mask was under there chin. We won't be returning and I should turn them into the health department. Gross!!!!! read more

I love these guys. I get the seafood fajita almost every time. It has shrimp and scallops in ample supply. The Husband and Wife team that own it will very likely be waiting your table, and they are extremely friendly! Prices are good, and service is quick! read more

I was famished when I stopped by El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant as I drove through West Point, but I believe I still retained my culinary objectivity despite my growling stomach. I was pleased to find the staples of Americanized Mexican restaurants - substantial portions at reasonable prices - but with the added advantage of some creative dishes (well, creative to my American experience). I was exceptionally pleased with my Calabacita Rellena, a chicken mixture stuffed in a zucchini shell with sauce and cheese on top. I usually feel disappointed if I don't have a tortilla, enchilada, or other grainy wrap as part of my meal, but I didn't feel any lack with the Calabacita Rellena. The beer selection was typical - basic American bland beers and standard Mexican choices - and the tortillas and salsa beforehand were standard. If the other entrees are as good as the one I had, however, I'd be happy to stop every time I pass through West Point! read more

The salsa is incredible! Chips are fresh (although only the first basket is free). Unlike the majority of restaurants the kids menu servings are big enough for a 10-12 year old boy. We are vegetarian, and the vegetable fajita was humongous and fresh whilst the vegetable taco filled a large plate. It is seldom that our family of four can eat out for $40 and be filled.....both happened for us on this trip! Those of you who live in the area are fortunate! read more

Always enjoy coming here and the food is comforting and very affordable. The family is so kind to us, and they have served us with our dog on their patio which was very considerate. read more

Quiet, little hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint ! Very quaint with really good food :) the salsa is sooo yummy ! I could just eat that haha yummy margaritas, as well ! Definitely worth the stop. read more

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant - Shredded chicken quesadilla ! Stuffed with lots of chicken & cheese, rices, beans, sour cream, guacamole & pico de gallo. - Mexican Near Me - West Point, Virginia

Very extensive menu. Have been here a few times and have been underwhelmed each time. Chips and salsa are OK, but the entrees are generally pretty bland. Service is usually pretty good as there are rarely many people there. read more

This food was average at best. The chips were stale, the salsa bland as was the chicken burrito. I'm from the city, so I have had lots of opportunities to have Mexican food, and perhaps my tastes are demanding, but, everyone working was Mexican, so you would think the food would be more flavorful. I won't be back. read more

Always great food at a great price. Local family owned and operated. Seafood is excellent.

When I first took bite of the rice, I already know everything's going to be good.. The tamales is on point. Free and fast wifi read more

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant - This Place Is Da Bomb.. COME AND TRY PLEASE - Mexican Near Me - West Point, Virginia

Average Mexican food, but being that there are no other options in this small town it is worth going to. They actually had a decent beer selection of domestics and Mexican imports. The chips and salsa was okay, I thought it was a little bland for my taste so I actually squeezed some lime into it from my negro modelo, yummm! I ordered a veggie burrito but due to the fact that when I got the burrito it was covered in a ton of melted cheese and I was unable to pick it up without the burrito falling apart I had to use a knife and fork to eat it, so I would not necessarily call it a burrito. Wait staff does not know much English but that is okay because they are friendly and check on you often anyways. I am planning on coming back, however if you order a burrito don't expect to be able to pick it up like you normally would. Veggie fajitas next time! read more

There aren't a lot of dining options in West Point, so i found this place on Yelp with some decent reviews and decided to try it. They had a couple of specials- one being nachos, but we went with the menu options instead. We had a couple of kids taco plates and they were devoured! The adults had 2 different versions of chicken fajitas, and they were tasty! Still your basic Mexican fare, but fresh and hot and good! We will definitely return! read more

Such a small quiet place but the food is great. The chimichanga is my personal favorite. The service is great and the food is very quick. I love coming here! read more

I could not have been more disappointed. I'm not sure that the place I ate was the same place that got all these other glowing reviews. Cinco de Mayo, 8:30, two other tables that had finished eating in the place, it took 25 minutes to get my food; Pollo Asado; A butterflied chicken breast cooked to death and cold rice and beans. The people were very nice and discounted my food without me saying anything. I'll probably give them another try considering all the other good reviews, however I was not at all pleased with the ( burnt, cold, unsalted) chips and too much cilantro, too little other seasoning) salsa so I am not holding out much hope, however if things are better next time I will update. read more

We eat at El Ranchero routinely. This is the best Mexican cuisine you are going to get within an hour's drive of West Point. The owner and his family cook your food and wait on you. They make their own salsa. It is a true small family owned business, which we very much appreciate their hard work and dedication. The meal portions are always very good and the price is very good for the quality of food they serve. The margarita prices are very inexpensive considering the size of margarita they serve you. I've been to Mexican restaurants out west in such places as El Paso, TX and the cuisine at El Ranchero is not quite as fresh and authentic as many Mexican restaurants out west; however, we are talking about a Mexican restaurant in the town of West Point--it is as good as it gets this far east. Thus the 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating. read more

Worst Mexican food ever....Working in West Point today and places for lunch are limited. Decided to give them a try since we were looking for something other than fast food. The salsa was watered down with no taste what so ever. I ordered the Fajita Quesadilla, the meat smelled bad, there was no cheese on it, the tortilla was not grille and since when did tomatoes come on fajitas. My co-worker order a chicken chimichanga which also had no cheese and the chicken was dry. None of our food had any seasoning. We both only took a few bits and couldn't eat any more. WOULD NOT EVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

Possibly the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Meat was completely dry, presentation was weak and service was spotty.

Ate there tonight, I've been here infrequently the last couple years and have always really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Tonight we had two of the worst frozen margaritas ever, almost no taste, the drinks tasted like mildly flavored frozen water. I brought it up to the server/owner and she made no attempt to correct the situation. Yes I drank the whole thing with my meal, I didn't have anything else to drink. My California burrito was excellent and my wife had the special, crab burritos and she liked them as well. I didn't remember this from before, but I never got an itemized check at the table, instead I had to go to the register where I only saw the final total, that seemed a bit odd to me? read more
