So anytime we go up to our cottage- dad likes to stop here. Yesterday, after some grass cutting & cleaning up we stopped in. The place has that 'stopped in time' vibe that normally gets shut down, razed and built back up into a Family Dollar... but there's one down the street so Paxtons is save. Lol... Anyway- just look at that menu- those prices are cheaper than McDonalds and the quality is 10x better. Whoever rates this place less than 4 stars just doesn't realize what they have here- a small town, small business, struggling and making it, providing good food at a very fair price in a world where franchises are less than 1 minute away (Sheetz). I ordered the Big Bacon Double & large order of fries. The bacon was crispy, the bun was fresh, burgers were fresh (not frozen) patties pounded out on the griddle (think smash burger IF the SmashBurger trend had ever reached Greenville. Lol) Dad got the Chopped Beef steak and large fries. Both were delicious- the pics don't lie. Some might have issues with the dark colors, carpet on the walls, etc... but they serve SOLID food at family prices.

We went there again today for breakfast, I ordered…read moremy "go to" spinach, ham and fresh mushroom omelette and my husband ordered steak (medium rare) and eggs. For the first time ever, the food was sub-par. My omelette looked nothing like the previous ones, had canned mushrooms and was sitting in a pool of water. My husband's steak was very well done, not even a trace of pink . He brought his plate back to the counter to request a new order and by the time he got his food, I was done with mine. As soon as he touched the steak, he could tell it was almost raw. When he cut into it, it was plain to see that it was dark red and raw inside. He showed the waitress and she offered to have it cooked again, but since I was already done eating, we paid for my omelette and left.

I ordered the 'Range Roaming Bison Burger' with bacon cooked to medium well, as you have a choice on how you want your patty cooked. I also ordered a side of their monstrous, massive onion rings that they are also known for. The food came out quickly, and my burger was cooked as I ordered it. The Onons rings were very crispy on the outside and were still hot inside as I got to the inside of them. They also have salads, soups, chilli, featured sandwiches, and apps on the menu. There is a beer menu that has standard and craft beer selections. The Blackout is a very popular spot for beers, burgers, sandwiches and accommodates people of all ages.
