5/3/2026 I'm from Pittsburgh and have been coming here for years, my parents came here for years, as they have loved Pymatuning Lake since they got their first car.... So anytime we go up to our cottage- dad likes to stop here. Yesterday, after some grass cutting & cleaning up we stopped in. The place has that 'stopped in time' vibe that normally gets shut down, razed and built back up into a Family Dollar... but there's one down the street so Paxtons is save. Lol... Anyway- just look at that menu- those prices are cheaper than McDonalds and the quality is 10x better. Whoever rates this place less than 4 stars just doesn't realize what they have here- a small town, small business, struggling and making it, providing good food at a very fair price in a world where franchises are less than 1 minute away (Sheetz). I ordered the Big Bacon Double & large order of fries. The bacon was crispy, the bun was fresh, burgers were fresh (not frozen) patties pounded out on the griddle (think smash burger IF the SmashBurger trend had ever reached Greenville. Lol) Dad got the Chopped Beef steak and large fries. Both were delicious- the pics don't lie. Some might have issues with the dark colors, carpet on the walls, etc... but they serve SOLID food at family prices. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant because of its excellent food for affordable prices.

This restaurant has been a staple in Greenville for many years. You have to go with it, bring cash, expect that maybe one person is waiting all of the tables of wait times could be longer than expected. Some of the food is great- like all day breakfast pancakes. Milk shakes are amazing too. I think in order to keep prices low, they have to keep staffing low too. Not sure but I will always go back and miss them being open 24 hours. read more

We are honestly surprised Paxtons is open! Service was awful (never refilled our drinks or checked to see how our food was) and our toast was stale (he had rye and I the wheat). This only good thing are the prices. We definitely won't be going back! read more

The food was decent, but service was terrible. Several employees visited my table and each of them were just as rude and ignorant as the last. Definitely not the place to go if you want to experience good dining. read more

Best Sausage and biscuits this side of the Mississippi river. Home made food and deserts that are to die for! Reasonable prices with nice waitresses that actually know how to get your order correct with a smile. read more

Okay, So I'm going to be pretty biased. I worked here for a while. I spent a year there as their dishwasher. And while the food is.... edible... I mean you could do a LOT better... I wouldn't recommend working here. The owner Barb is just an awful human being. She treats her employees like dirt. She especially treated me horribly when she asked me what church I belonged to (something you never ask an employee). I politely said I didn't go. Once I cut my hand and the cut wasn't a concern. The fact that I said a profanity as a response was the problem. I'll admit I wasn't the perfect employee, but she and her daughter were just awful terrible people who treated me like dirt. But i did my time, it kept gas in my car, so I moved on once I moved out of town. I thought my trouble with them was over until years and years later when I moved to a city down south and was up for a pretty big office job. The company needed my work history for seven years, and Paxton's just happened to hit that time period. Well, Barb REFUSED to take part. They didn't need lawyers (as she suspected), or tax information (also her suspicion), just a verbal "yes he worked for me." She still refused. And she was her typical rude self. Eventually I just told my employer they had a two minute window to call. And they called her, and my employer called me back. They pretty much said she was kicking and screaming to say anything at all. What a shock. Thankfully, as i'm shopping for work in yet another major city, I never have to call her for a confirmation again. I'm amazed this place is still open. Never mind their refusal to join the 21st century and accept cards for payment. Never mind its sub-par food. But also the fact that nearly everyone I worked with there was an awful person. So if you're in Greenville and are looking for some way to make money, avoid avoid avoid. read more

Went in for a quiet breakfast with my husband one morning. We were promptly seated and taken care of by our waitress. Servings are large and portions are on the cheaper side. Everything was fresh and hot - and the cinnamon rolls are to die for! read more

5 mozzy sticks for $8 what a joke cups are kid sized, service is slow.

Stopped here for first time in 21 years. I loved the quiet and casual atmosphere. Ordered a simple burger and fries for lunch. Everything was fresh and very good. The fries were the kind you get at the fairs and were delicious. Recommend stoping if you are traveling through the area. read more

Don't expect the Taj Mahal or the Ritz.... But it's an old, well established community restaurant that serves a good breakfast for "cheaper than anywhere else" money! I recommend it! read more

Imagine that there was only ONE 24/7 joint in a town of 20,000. Yep. Thiel kids, bikers, millenials and baby boomers- all out for food after a night of drinking. All in a tiny diner on the main street. Amazing eggs, pancakes, french toast and sausage. All a la carte. Plus home fries, hashbrowns and fried MUSH WITH SYRUP. Yum. read more

Really good homemade food. Open 24/7 except for major holidays. Try the delicious "cinnamon rolls" and/or "homemade pies" with a cup of coffee. read more

Great little place for a snack dinner or breakfast. Never had a bad meal over the years and servers are accurate and friendly.

Used to be Great. I will never go back. Shitty waitress and had shitty food. Tried 3 times, but my wife wouldn't eat her meal. My 16 yr old daughter ate some of hers and wouldn't finish. I ate mine I was starved. But it wasn't good. I even took my old college roommate there for breakfast ( he has 6 million dollars) I was F'n embarrassed. Terrible and no we aren't snobs. I am 69 yrs old and have been going there since I was 5 yrs old and went through 5 owners. Won't be back for yrs. read more

ordered carry out and due to a unfortunate circumstance with the ATM and payment we were addressed rudely and even threatened to call the police. We have never stolen anything. Sad to say, the food was definately not worth the harassment and poor PR and we will never return to this vendor. Ever. read more

This was our first and last time here. While were eating, my husband observed one of the cooks dropped food on the floor and picked it up and put it back on the grill! We were appalled! We believe the health dept needs to check this place out. read more

Best little country diner in Greenville. Super family friendly, and super welcoming. Great breakfast in town!

No dividers between tables and the waitress was walking around with an old purse that she had all of her straws, napkins, and condiments in. She would open the purse and pull out obviously old ziplock bags filled with salt and pepper and jelly and ask you which you wanted! We left without eating. read more

I ate here recently with my family. There were five of us and they place was pretty busy with one waitress. She worked very hard and did a great job. The place is a small old fashioned place with a lot of character. The food was very good. We had the cinnamon rolls for desert and they are HUGE AND DELICIOUS. The price was very reasonable. Will definitely be going back. read more

Paxton's used to be the place to get a slice of pie and coffee--40 years ago. I was truly disappointed in the coconut cream pie. Stodgy, poorly blended filling, undercooked crust, weird refrigerator taste. The coffee was weak and undrinkable. read more

It is what it is, a greezv spoon that makes food. Like the song says it was I could eat for a dollar minty nine, but all I could stand was a dollars worth But at two am it's all good read more

Nothing I have even eaten there qualifies as good cooking. Nasty greasy frys, sorry shakes, boxed burgers, and the late night breakfast is just piss poor. The wait staff is not a happy bunch. They don't take ATM or credit cards, how totally pathetic. If your drunk I guess it's better than a roller dog. read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot when I go home to Greenville. The coffee is good and hot, the food is good, the service is exceptional, and the price is amazingly low. read more

I was in town for Homecoming several weeks ago. I ate at Paxton's twice and the food / service was excellent. Chicken Pie was outstanding!

Cheap food, unorganized staff, credit cards not acceptable, watch the cook put mu father in laws meal in the microwave to heat it up because it was sitting out. Lucky to give them 2 stars. read more

Its a greasy spoon diner that open 24/7 don't expect fine dining. Only place in town to eat late night other than sheetz or mcds. Burgers are ok and the warm iced cinnamon rolls are good. Also they are cash only no credit cards. read more

Food is a good value for the price. I have always had good service. Despite being busy the servers are friendly and efficient and treat you very well read more

Very rude server. Waited 10 minutes before waitrees came over to seat us and then says it would be another 20 minute wait for a table. Then tells us we should go somewhere else. There were plenty of tables available. Not to mention no hand sanitizer or required face coverings. Very unpleasant visit will not return. read more

Not very friendly waitress... Did not Like food and cook or owner came out and starred at us. Ordered something else off Menu and didn't like it either! Then got charged half price for food I didn't even eat... after paying and tipping the waitress the cook and it owner starred the whole time until we left! Very rude!!!! If I didn't have to choose rating to comment it would be big ZERO! read more

The food is not the best but the prices are definitely affordable. I wouldn't recommend this if you're actually looking to satisfy your hunger. If you're looking for a place to hang out and satisfy your late night munchies with friends, you can't beat it. read more

Food is average at best. It takes forever to get served, mainly because there is no more than two people working no matter how busy the restaurant gets. read more

In a world of over-priced and pretentious restaurants I always happy to find a place like Paxton's. Comfortable, friendly and basic delicious food. I was in town on business and needed a place for dinner. When I passed it I knew I had to go in. It was early so it was quiet and pleasant and I got to sit at the counter. The roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy just hit the spot. And the blackberry cobbler was a great finish to the meal. read more

I will only doc points for the fact that they don't take credit cards, cash only. No local delivery service. However the prices and service is always great. read more

It is a very clean and friendly local restaurant. The food and service were very good. Pricing is affordable.

I come here quite a bit and the service today was poor and the food was the same. Waited a half an hour for food and when it arrived, it was cold. Asked for ketchup and a coffee refill and didn't receive either. On top of that, had to go to the counter to get my own silverware. read more

Ok. So it's open 24 hours. That's a plus. Food - nothing to write home about. I fail to see why some people rave about it. Hash browns are the frozen patties. Bacon - well, I couldn't eat it (and I love bacon). It's just typical diner food. read more

The other review was unfortunate and if you ask my wife she would agree it. I however take a different perspective. Sure it would be/is considered a 'greasy spoon' but I go there for the 24 hr breakfast service. Ask for your home-fries or french fries crispy. The pancakes are monstrous, eggs cooked to your specification - I like mine 'dippy' - choice of three meats ( sausage patties Are greasy but the links, bacon or ham slice is not) and of course the bottomless cup of tea or coffee! So for these reasons I rate them near excellent. read more

A basic family diner, looks a little sketchy but the food is pretty good. It's cheap and is always worth the price, although the food is by no means high quality. I always enjoy eating here, and would recommend it to anyone looking for fast and decent food on a budget. read more

I was amazed to find this place here. It's a 27/7 greasy spoon with carpeting on the walls, fun booths and good burgers and rings. My one complaint is it's cash only -- very old-school, though they have an ATM in the lobby. Friendly servers, too. read more
