I have always had a great meal here at the West Middlesex Diner. Never had anything that was not perfectly cooked served hot, and just what I wanted. I recommend the country fried steak, get it with the chicken gravy. It is outstanding! The veg are seasoned and hot no matter what the veg of the day is. We ordered takeaway, which was standard diner fare. We are diner aficionados, so we were hopeful. We liked that we could order breakfast for dinner, and the location was close to our hotel, so we figured it would be hot when we got it back to our room. The food was okay. The order wasn't correct, but it wasn't enough to attempt to have it corrected. My toast was burnt, and my eggs were cold, but I appreciated that they packaged up little cups of hot sauce for me. My spouse said their pie was good, and I think their desserts might be where they shine. My child had the rice pudding and enjoyed it, though it was much thicker than what they are used to. My omelet was not my cup of tea. Besides being cold, the veg was raw, and that gives me the ick to have raw veg in a cooked dish. In all, the savory food was underwhelming, and they forgot to include a side dish that was ordered. We did not return during our stay. read more

We detoured off the freeway to have lunch here. I liked that you could order breakfast all day. I chose pancakes for lunch which came with a side of bacon. Husband had a club sandwich. We both liked our meals very much. Staff was efficient and on top of their tables which was nice when we wanted a quick lunch. A man walked in and was waited on within 5 minutes of sitting down and I still didn't see my server. A family of 5 was in after me and waited on once again before I had a server come to my table. I have NEVER experienced this kind of service before. I finally place my order and wait 15 mins for it. Great food and service!! We had breakfast and did not disappoint. Would definitely go again next time we're in the area.

Our food took far too long to come out and we felt as though the staff was avoiding us rather than explaining what was happening. Further, the food was mediocre at best. My turkey stuffing was dense and gooey while my wife's meatloaf had too much salt and came out warm rather than hot. I really want to cheer for locally owned places, but this was a disappointment. read more

My wife and I stopped into the Middlesex Diner on a whim while traveling from MI to VA recently. We didn't want to have dinner at any of the "food factory " franchises along the way because we can eat a Franchise meal anywhere. We were both happy with our decision to stop. I had the hot beef sandwich with cottage fries and my wife had an omelette with rye and fried taters. We were both pleased with our meals. It reminded us of a restaurant we would visit in our hometown in Northern MI when we were kids. Our server, a very well spoken woman with exceptional diction, was attentive to our needs and tolerated my "Why is he still talking" sense of humor quite well. The cashier, who mentioned that it was her first day on the job at the restaurant went out of her way to help me help my wife. My wife has to use a wheelchair now, and finding the an accessible bathroom can be a challenge because she needs my help to get out of the chair. This first day on the job cashier lady told us to go ahead and use the ladies room and that she would make certain that no one tried to enter until my wife was finished and we were left the ladies room. There's no way to express enough thanks for that kind of kindness. We have decided that if possible we are going to stop in again during our drive back to MI. We'll stop both for the good food and for the kindness shown us. Thanks so much. read more

I can't believe I've never written a review of this Diner! We have eaten here dozens of times over the past fifteen years because it's located between SHARON, PA and New Castle. Most of my Doctors are in SHARON, as are the shopping chains too. We've eaten breakfast, lunch & dinner many many times. There is a terrific all day breakfast special, a variety of choices for lunch & dinner, and homemade pies. My favorites are the Reuben sandwich, the steak dinner, and most any pie they make. We usually buy pie to eat later at home, but sometimes get a whole pie to feed friends. We haven't ever been disappointed. We once took our Granddaughter here for lunch. At age three, she ordered the hamburger & fries (naturally) and ate it so fast the waitress brought her a second one, free, to take home. Enjoy your meal, tell the waitress if something isn't good and she'll make it right. You can't go wrong at this Diner! read more

I was disappointed in this diner. I had heard good things, but that was not my experience today. First, the waitress. Definitely needs to find another job. No greeting. I asked for tea. What I was served was not tea. It has a sour taste. The waitress's response, "iced tea has no taste ". Really, you old biddy? I am used to omelettes that come with cheese included. Mine did not come with cheese. I also don't care for toast that has unmelted butter. While waiting for my meal, I volunteered to move to another table so that a larger party could fit together. My lovely waitress's response, "You should have told me you moved.". Again, really, you old biddy? She also did NOT check on me to see how the meal was. That is a huge pet peeve of mine. It has the old time diner atmosphere and was obviously a regular dining place for the locals. The servers were friendly like you'd expect from a small town diner. But the food was so-so. The broiled haddock was way over cooked, dry, rubbery and tasteless. The green salad was more brown than green. My father had the pork and gravy over "dressing" which was a piece of bread that soaked up any remaining juices, soggy and tasteless. The pork too was over cooked, a little chewy and had no remaining flavor of pork. The fries were great! Overall you can do much better in the area. We won't be back for breakfast. read more

I've been going to this diner for 50 years and today was the first time the service was horrible. We seated ourselves and waited for 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged and brought menus. Then another 10 minutes went by and no one came to take our order, I actually got up and went to the counter and asked if there was a waitress for that booth. About 5 minutes later a waitress came over apologetic about no one taking care of us. Her service was good, but I still don't understand why we waited so long. We sat where we wanted. The menu had plenty of choices with great pricing. My husband and I both chose a pasta dish. The salads were nice and fresh. Bread and butter was too. This small town diner is everything you would expect - a sit down counter area with round stools, tighter seating throughout the building, hand written "specials" board, a case of different flavored pies displayed in a glass case, and of course, your classic diner food! I was so excited to give it a try! A friend and I sat at the long sit-down counter and were greeted fairly quickly by a waitress. I knew what I wanted without looking at the menu because who gets anything but breakfast at a traditional diner?! The food did not disappoint! Well buttered toast, browned homefries with a side of ketchup, extra crispy bacon, and fluffy scrambled eggs - the perfect amount of food to hold you over until your next meal. And the prices?? My husband and I like to frequent places that aren't big box, brand name. This place was a fine example! We were searching for a local place and this came up in my search so I figured we'd give it a try. Nothing fancy, seat yourself. The waitress took a bit of time to come take our drink orders, but in her defense, it was quite busy for 1:00 in the afternoon! I ordered the hot pork sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy (6.50) and my husband ordered the ham club sandwich (6.99) that came with French fries! When the meals came out a reasonable amount of time later, we were very pleasantly surprised! Both were ample servings and the gravy that came on mine was very thick and flavorful. Have only been here for breakfast one other time before tonight. My husband and I both ordered Roast beef dinners. The roast beef looked to be an odd color when the waitress sat our plates down and it definitely tasted spoiled. Even my mashed potatoes had a sour smell to them and I was afraid to eat them. This was very close to where we were staying and the reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. This is a very local diner - I think we were the only out-of-towners there. It was 6pm and very busy - I figured the diner holds about 80 people full up and I'd say there were about 60 people seated. They had 3 servers and they were very busy. It took about 10-15 minutes to place our order and then we waited about 45 minutes for our food. Obviously the kitchen was slammed - probably typical for a Saturday evening. I had a hot turkey sandwich and it was good - my wife had the smothered chicken and she liked it - the chicken was moist and tender and overall tasty. They do serve wine - the label was Barefoot in a small plastic bottle, served in a plastic wine glass. The men's room was clean and fairly tidy, so good marks for that. Our bill came to $22 w/o tip. Overall we were satisfied and I would come back. It's a diner, it's diner food so don't expect haute cuisine. For what it is, it's worth a try - I would guess breakfasts would be a good choice. read more

There were 3 waitresses and one waiter who were standing at the counter complaining about co-workers who work the morning shift and how they are not helpful, etc. then they discussed the place in general and it was not kind. Our waitress was terrible, but that could be because she was too busy concentrating on the negative conversation to be bothered with customer service. It took everything we had not to interject. If the owner reads this, you definitely have a staff issue that needs addressed sooner than later. This is my favorite DINER when up here to W. Middlesex. It's cozy, quaint place that's usually full of locals having a meal. Staff always helpful and friendly. Service is excellent. The food seems to be prepared well and cooked to perfection. My husband and I have been here several times when in the area for work. Their soups are tasteful and inviting. Which is perfect with the brisk cold air just outside the door. A little over a yr ago, we had Meatball Soup. Which was delicious !!! We've tried to duplicate this recipe at home on our dinner table. Truly, this recipe has been quite a subject matter we have talked about with friends and family. It was to our dismay that tonight when we were there it was NOT available. :( In the end, we love this place, no doubt. And will frequent when in town. A MUST EAT dive. read more
