I found Hazel's service to be wonderful, the food however fell flat. Can no one make corned beef hash anymore? (Not that garbage from a can either) But they don't even offer the dog food. (hash from a can) Prices and portions were good but quality just wasn't there for us. As for the restaurant itself? It's an old school diner. Just like you'd expect. Solid restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is really good. Their breakfast is delicious especially the French toast. Their burgers are yummy and the salads are huge although I think there could be more veggie choices for them, like cucumber, but the ranch makes up for it. I also think the broccoli cheddar soup was surprisingly flavorful maybe a pinch salty for my taste but worth a try. All in all this is a staple to new castle and for good reason. read more

Tl/dr: great breakfast and service at a real deal small town diner. I don't live in this town, but was driving through and needed breakfast. Staff were helpful and even offered to deliver our food to our car (This happened during the Pandemic). The food was ready in under ten minutes, was delicious, and affordable. This is my weekend breakfast spot and they rarely disappoint. The food is good, the portions plentiful, and the service is always stellar. I have never stopped in for any of the other meals besides breakfast but I am hoping to when time permits. I also want to give the staff an extra shout-out for their attention-to-detail when it comes to instituting COVID preventive measures. This locally owned eatery has taken precautions most chain restaurants either haven't thought of or just don't want to be bothered with. I feel more comfortable/safe eating here than I do many of the other restaurants in the area. Hazels might be tucked away downtown, and it isn't the fanciest place in the area, but the food and service I have experienced so far have exceeded expectations. We missed the lunch specials by 20 minutes, and they wouldn't give us the lunch special price and we were the only ones in there. The waitress was mediocre at best, pretty snippy.
