At my recent visit to Jules' coffee house, I had the most excellent pumpkin pie iced coffee and chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was especially good, and tasted so fresh and warm. The interior of this café is so cute and attractive. There was plenty unique seasonal items offered which all sounded delicious. To no surprise, it was very busy the morning me and my friend went, only having 1-2 tables open. Hopefully I can visit here again to try more items. read more

This is a rare gem in the midst of the many coffee shops i. Downtown La Crosse! The food was excellent, the coffee was absolutely spot on, not super bitter(as some other shops we visited) and exceptionally smooth. The service was great, even during a busy time. The atmosphere was laid back and calm. When I am in town again this is the shop I will be getting my coffee from. They are also attached to Pearl Street Books (during the bookstores business hours) which is a great addition! read more

A great coffee shop for a light breakfast. Walked from one of the hotels and it had a lot of character. I snacked on the banana bread and coffee first while my avocado toast was being made. They served coffee in a glass jar so make sure to specificity to go if you want to take it with you. The bread was very fresh and the avocado toasted had great ingredients and was presented very nicely. And of course it tasted great! read more

The warm cozy feel of this coffee house was just what I was looking for. Natural woodwork. The lighting was not glaring, nor was it a dark dungeon. The staff was patient with us when we looked over the menu as it was our first time there. The choices for food were not your run of the milk breakfast sandwich or sweet French toast or pancake. The buckwheat crêpes with brussels sprouts and micro greens with the egg on top was fantastic. The bacon used on everything had that well smoked farm flavor. The cappuccino and caramel macchiato were wonderful, not overly bitter and not too sweet. I have already been telling friends about how wonderful it was. Then you add the fact that it's connected directly to a fantastic bookstore and you have a winner. We will definitely be back! read more

I went to get a coffee. I got a latte to stay here along with a white chip scone. Both were delicious! The place was crowded but I was able to find a table to sit and enjoy. My coffee was brought to me with a nice design on top. The only thing I wish they would have done was to warm up my scone, I should have asked. read more

Their coffee is superb. I highly recommend the affogato. The Granddad Crepe was also right up my alley. I love crunch, the Brussels sprouts r just that, plus micro-greens! This place makes La Crosse feel romantic to me. The little irish pub-like booths are so neat. Another cute surprise was they use kids toy blocks as table numbers. The shop has a cute atmosphere to sit with a friend and stay for a while. I always appreciate milk substitutes so I like to make note! Lovely little coffee and wine shop in the heart of downtown La Crosse. I am a coffee snob...no Starbucks for this gal. Our hotel front desk recommended this place. Plus, I like to support local. I knew the barista was for real when he asked me if I'd prefer a tall glass (made of glass) or a ceramic cup. Plus he agreed a latte is just better in ceramic. Most of the syrups are house made. I went to Jules on a Sunday around noon or so. The place was decently busy and there were only a few tables open. They had maybe five or so tables outside on the sidewalk and it was a beautiful day. The place is definitely looks old, but it's a great atmosphere. The ceilings are probably 20 feet high and so the place looks a lot bigger than it actually is. They had may six booths on one side of the place that seat a couple people each. The music wasn't too loud so I wasn't bothered at all. People weren't talking much which was great because I was trying to study. My order was taken right away. I ordered an iced coffee and you can pay an extra dollar for a refill right away otherwise the iced coffee would be 2 dollars, which is pretty darn cheap (at least compared to Starbucks). It came up within about 30 seconds and it was in a nice pint size (or a little bigger) mason jar. It was definitely one of the better iced coffees I've ever had. I'm not sure if it was a cold brew or not.. I would definitely go here again. The place was quiet and is perfect for studying. There are quite a few tables so it shouldn't be too hard to find a spot and the prices are reasonable at least for what I ordered. The wifI is also fast. read more

Jules is kind of fun. It's a coffeehouse downtown next to a used bookstore. It seems like interesting people hang out here, much more interesting than the people that hang out in the Starbucks in Onalaska. I had an iced vanilla latte one day when we were visiting, and a Mocha when my husband made us go back the next day. He bought a mug and got a free coffee and refill-plus it was kind of cute. The scones and soup look good-I had a cookie which was two butter cookies sandwiched by fudge. It was too almondy...but it was homemade. I sat outside in the sun and practically got a sunburn the first nice day in Spring. It's a LaCrosse experience, except it's always too cold in the winter. read more

Jules is, for La Crosse, my ideal of what a coffee shop should be: it has eclectic furniture, lots of places to spread out with your books, a funky urban vibe, strange customers who may or may not have various sorts of mental illnesses, students pretending to study, and it's open late. The coffee is decent, too. I bet it was awesome back when you could still smoke inside. Sometimes at Jules, I like to play the "what is this person a professor of?" game. Try it - you will not be bored. The only big downside to Jules is that they have a $10 minimum for charge cards - which, to me, is equivalent to being cash only. My favorite coffee shop in La Crosse! This is where my husband and I had our first date several years ago and later took some of our engagement photos in the beautiful wood booths! The Mayan Chocolate coffee is delicious and I can never seem to find it anywhere else. They source local ingredients whenever possible. The baristas are really friendly and offer assistance when navigating the menu. The best part of this quaint coffee shop is that it is attached to a used bookstore which holds its own charm! Grabbing a hot coffee, a book, and heading a few blocks down to the river was one of my favorite spring/summer/fall activities in La Crosse! read more

I love Jules. Everything about it. The coffee, the tea, the soda in glass bottles, the paintings, the cozy booths, and the people. Back in my days as a student at UWL, you could find me here for hours writing my Anthropology essays and brushing up on my French homework. If I needed to get off campus, or later out of my apartment, Jules was the place to go. I recently visited La Crosse again during a trip back to WI and had to stop in. Jules has good coffee and a very unique and interesting ambiance and environment that I enjoy - albeit a bit dusty and weathered - it adds to the vibe. The patina on this place is heavy (in a good way) and it's location next to an old-school book store only adds to the feel. The coffee is good - it's not Intelligenstia or Dogwood but it's fairly consistent and tasty. The customer service has always been great for me but I must note that I have never eaten here so I can't comment on that. The crowd is eclectic and, at times, quite eccentric - today I overheard a debate on the existence of extraterrestrials and dragons as I sat outside. Jules' Coffee House is a great, atmospheric cafe in downtown La Crosse. Located inside a turn-of-the-century building, the cafe retains a sense of history and studied decorum. I dug the quiet, old-school vibe in there. Jules' also has a decent selection of teas from Republic of Tea, though no loose-leaf options. Their vegetarian chili is vegan and I was told it's quite hearty and popular. Unfortunately, Jules' doesn't have any vegan baked goods. I found myself at Jules because I was in town for the summer at the local campus of U of W for a language immersion course. Had it not been for that, I would have never found this gem. Trying to cram a year's worth of Arabic into two months clearly requires tons of studying, and I was here on pretty much a daily basis. I have pretty high standards when it comes to local coffee places, and Jules delivers in every category. The coffee and espresso are of very high quality, the vibe is cool, but not pretentious, and I've never been so utterly enthralled by the people who work there. We were greeted... or not greeted by an unhappy looking barista. A sign mentioned "hiring" so maybe we were served by the unhappy boss. However, as a first impression, I wasn't impressed. I was excited to see lavender on the latte menu - the barista didn't share my excitement, or have any excitement at all. The latte was ok. The booths were filled with a few professionals on computers and one conked out dude. The atmosphere seemed cold and empty. I'm shocked (but pleased) that this place exists in the small town of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, otherwise known for the most bars on one block (Guinness World Record holder) and world's largest six pack! While staying with my folks for a month a while back, I was jonesing for coffee and since I refuse to patronize the green mermaid, I found Jules. Jules offers some excellent roasted coffee, espresso drinks, and a small variety of baked goods. The coffee is rich and dark and, depending on the barista working, you can get a damn good cappuccino with proper foam (I'm snobby about that). One nice thing: for its milk Jules uses Organic Valley products. (Organic Valley is headquartered in nearby Viroqua, Wisconsin, but it's also damn good milk!) Jules also has a secret: homeade organic vegetarian soups, made fresh every day by the owner, Chris. They have two soups every day: a veggie chili, and a rotating list of other soups. Some of my favorites: African Peanut Lentil, butternut bisque, and some coconut concoction with broccoli and carrots. Thank God for Jules soups, as I would have starved for lack of quality sustenance (LaCrosse food, like most small midwestern towns, is dominated by chain restaurants and other nondescript fare). As for the decor, it's nothing special - it has old-fashioned booths from back when it was a restaurant, and many tables. It's a college hangout and happily it has enough plugs to keep most computer users happy. It's also open until midnight most nights. All in all, Jules is an awesome little jewel I enjoy visiting when I come back to Wisconsin. read more

Disappointed today. I am not from La Crosse but come here several times a month and on this occasion I didn't have cash. They accept credit cards but only for purchases over $10. Who drinks that much coffee. I told the girl I was there all the time and she asked if I'm from La Crosse. I explained that I wasn't and she said it was a firm rule. She's helped me plenty of times. So much for small town welcome. She took my whole order back. Shocked! This happened 1 other time and the owner helped me. That made me loyal. I will likely go again, but if I need to use a card since I'm on business travel will just go across the street to Cabin Coffee. They are struggling to get customers, but when you go in the really appreciate your business. read more
