This is a locally owned and operated place, with a lot of unique charm. We were told to go here for breakfast by the kids working at Dixie's Biergarten the night before. So thanks Max and Sarah for the solid recommendation! Getting to the business was easy, it is located in the old historic area of Decorah, which is a charming, clean and very touristy area. With parallel parking on both sides of the road and nice sidewalks surrounded by lots of local shops and business (most closed on a Sunday morning). Ambiance: The first thing you realize is that the foyer area is maybe too small and the window seating there makes it even smaller. You are supposed to grab a menu from the wall area on the far side and order at the counter without rubbing your butt on the people eating at the window seats. This is easier said than done when 20 people are crammed into a space made for 5 or 6...just saying... The place is quint and has a lot fun character ,and when we visited they were bustling with activity. (Lots of people not sure of what to do). We finally learned and ordered at the counter and while paying (touchless) we were greeted with smiles and then a screen asking for 18% -25% for a tip (more on that at the end). We were given a number and a little lighted puck that would vibrate when we were to come back get our coffee. The place is old, but clean and has a very fun and overall friendly vibe! Food/Service: So we went down the narrow hall towards the back of the building where more seating was available and we claimed a table. In the hall they have a self bussing station and a get your own water station so we grabbed a couple of waters... 5 or so minutes later we were buzzed to get our finley made coffees - Kim had an Iced S'mores COLD BREW and I had the White Zombie. They were both fantastic! A few minutes later our food was delivered. Kim had an order of the biscuits and gravy ($9) and an over easy egg on the side ($2.40) . The egg was perfectly prepared and the BG were likely house made from scratch and also very good! I ordered the Omelette ($13) with portabella (+$1.25) and avocado (+$0.80, looked like guacamole) added on and sourdough toast. Mine was delicious and the fresh ingredients made for a lovely meal. Food eaten, coffee consumed, we bussed our own table and departed. We would definitely recommend this business and I will go back again when I am in Decorah. Note to management: Requesting a tip at payment for a meal that has not been delivered, nor consumed, is ordered at the counter by the customer, and partially self served, then suggesting that the customer is to self bus their own dirty dishes is a very pretentious model in my opinion. It makes me feel like 'If I don't tip well when I order, am I going to get 100% of what I paid for?' I don't like that feeling, sorry... While I believe everyone there was truly working hard, in that business model they are earning a wage, not a tip.

Great breakfast and Java stop in Decorah. Incredible cinnamon rolls. Yummy breakfast burritos (shoutout to those rosemary potatoes inside). Coffee drinks were delicious, I had an issue with my order and the manager was completely gracious and took care of it for me, even though it was my mistake. Inside is full of charm and history. Only downside is they are closed Mondays/Tuesdays!

Ah-maze-balls! We are in town for the beautiful weather and foliage and was given a tip to try here. I just sunk my mouth into The Dug Panini and my taste buds cried out joyful praises. They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, burgers and a breakfast menu. It doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is The Dug. Or, whatever you order, be sure to slather it in the garlic aioli. This is what makes my mouth sing for this sandwich.

Our family enjoyed sitting at the live edge countertop bar looking out to the street! Kids had delicious cinnamon rolls and vanilla steamers. A breakfast sandwich was good, the loaded avocado toast was great. Violet latte was good, chai tea was great.

Very cute coffee shop! We had a nice Saturday morning breakfast - I had the ciabatta breakfast sandwich and my husband the breakfast panini. I also tried the "made in-house" chai tea latte which was very good - not too sweet and wonderfully creamy! We also loved that even though we are still in the middle of covid19 they offered seating outdoors! With us staying in a nearby hotel we really didn't want to spend our whole morning in the room, thus this coffee shop was perfect!

Being from the West Coast, I'm always seeking out local coffee shops that remind me of home. This one did not disappoint! I had the honey rose latte with almond milk- it was delicious!! They also have Lavender flavorings for their drinks, which I highly recommend trying if you haven't before. Food options were also great. I'm always looking for healthy and fresh options. Magpie does a great job at offering this considering they are located in such a rural area. I ordered the B Wrap for breakfast and it was perfect- salsa, fresh avocado, cheddar, and eggs, in a wrap! I will come here again if in the area.

B Wrap - not awesome

Magpies - three fourths awesome, one fourth "eh." "Eh" - 1. Food: The B Wrap was ok. It wasn't hot enough to have melted the cheese inside and the avocado and salsa was not distributed well enough. I either got a bite of egg and cheese or everything. Also, totally personal criticism, the salsa had a high amount of onions and peppers (enough that I couldn't taste the tomatoes). Food wise, Magpies gets a thumbs down from me for this visit. AWESOME - 2. Service: The woman at the counter was great! Friendly and up beat! 3. Decor: Brick coffee house upfront, cool door artwork and booths in the middle and a really neat little enclosed porch in the back. 4. Drinks: I had the house made chai tea. Caveat - I am a chai tea snob. While this is no where near Indian chai (hardly anyone is), this was fantastic! Most places automatically serve a spiced chai tea that I will drink, but, would prefer not to. Magpie's chai tea is close to a vanilla chai with more foam and just enough spice to make me love it. Wonderful! Overall, I would say go to Magpie's. Try the food (I hear the biscuits and gravy are good), talk to the great staff, take in the decor and definitely try the chai tea!

The coffee is always delicious, my favorite is their Oatchata, and the food menu is ever growing and evolving, better every time. Their Slammin' Salmon waffle is a must get; the smoked salmon pairs perfectly with their tangy and bright lemon-dill cream cheese. The space is so cute and comfy and there is no bad seat in the house. All of the baristas are always so kind and welcoming. It is always such a joy to spend time at Impact.

Nice open/airy first floor with lots of comfy chairs/couches with different configurations to sit and chill or rendezvous with your work team/friends, etc. There was a dude tying flies in the corner and college kids meeting for a study group, diverse mix of folks. Apparently they have tap beer & wine on nights where they host events like trivia on Thurs or bingo on Fri, cool local artwork featured on the walls Service was great/informative on the drink and bakery items, coffee came out quickly (granted it wasn't super busy), Nitro cold brew was excellent, wifi great, chair was comfy, would drop in anytime I'm in the area to catch up on work, relax with great caffeination, or check out the events they host. Cheers!

They carried a good range from local cheese maker WW Homestead and also had a nice variety of Wisconsin cheeses along with some imports. The cider selection really came as a wonderful surprise, though. I used to cider being given a short shrift compared to beer. Instead, they had a great variety from local cideries, and I even bought a bottle from Belgium! My husband found a few new beers, too. If and when I come here again, I'd love to look through more of the store, even as I check on the cheese and cider anew. This is definitely my kind of place.

It took two staff members 20 minutes to make two sandwiches "made to order". We stood there and had no idea why it was taking forever. They did toast the bread. As pictured, I was glad they had GF bread but it made my sandwich much smaller. I got lettuce, red peppers, "avocado" the green paste you see on the lid, pepperjack and mayo. We bought a large bad of chips and a tea $2.29 and our total for two "no extras" sandwiches, the tea and one bag of chips was $24 and change. Still can't believe how puny the meal was. Only two veggies before you're charged .99 for extras. I expected it would be substantial and filling. Otherwise the store was clean, and has lot of options for foods and natural products.
