Juice Box is the best shaved ice place I've ever tried. I'd like to believe that's high praise, considering the fierce competition between Asian businesses at Bellaire. Every time I pay a visit to Houston, I make sure to come here for dessert. Be prepared because Juice box is usually really noisy. I have tried the other desserts offered here, but I always go back to the classic shaved ice in the end. The fruits they offer as toppings are always fresh, and they taste even better when doused with condensed milk. Which Juice box pours plenty of. Fascinatingly enough, Juice Box even offers some uncommon fruits like the notorious durians. But I do have a complaint with the methods the workers used in one instance. Instead of turning a customer away, the workers just ignored the situation and their inaction caused the customers to be uncomfortable and leave earlier than anticipated. A middle-aged couple were arguing and making a fuss at one of the corners of the store, but their arguing somehow devolved into carnal activities noisily under the table. The workers decided to turn the other cheek instead of asking them to leave or calling authorities for improper behavior at a public place. Meanwhile the customers throughout the store turned their heads to look at the couple in disgust, and the customers began filtering to the outside from the discomfort. The event just really shows that Juice Box is not the most capable at prioritizing the satisfaction of the majority of their customers because they are afraid of incurring the wrath of a minority. read more

Located in a plaza with lots of other food options, ranging from milk tea/boba cafe to restaurants to a supermarket. Not crowded for a Sunday night. Parking is free. Only 1 other customer aside from my family of 4, so we were attended to fast. The kids each got a scoop of ice cream while my husband and I shared the mochi shaved ice. The mochi is peanut and black sesame mochi (pretty much the filling for a Chinese glutinous rice ball on the outside). The kids finished their ice cream before our shaved ice order was ready. This was because the mochi was made to order and it's not. It's interesting to put the hot mochi on top of the shaved ice, I didn't appreciate the shaved ice melting before we can get to it but it was quite interesting and refreshing yet warming to get a bit of hot and cold. It was a little overwhelming when I first entered the store because of how many different flavors of ice cream, shaved ice and fruit that they had and the cashier didn't do a great job of explaining which flavors were available for the ice cream vs. shaved ice. But in the end I opted for a small shaved ice with kiwi fruit and condensed milk with strawberry ice cream on top and it was delicious and refreshing. They have larger sizes which allow you to have multiple types of fruit and ice cream flavors but the plate was bigger than my face so I'll have to try that next time when I'm hungrier! read more

Please don't get the tofu dessert here with the peanut topping. It isn't smooth and after the initial hotness wore off the tofu was progressively sour tasting which is a sign of bad tofu. Their take is more of a taiwanese approach to usual "tofu fa". It is quite possible their shave ice is better or their juice drinks with boba. But so meh for me. read more

When Juice Box first opened up, it was $5 for a bowl of shaved ice. It went up to $6. And the last time I went, it was $7. I used to go to Juice Box all the time to get my sweet fix. I always ask for Mango, Strawberry, and Pineapple on top of my shaved ice and I always ask for extra condensed milk on my ice. When it was $5, I was fine with it. When it was $6, it was bordering expensive. Now at $7, I'd rather go to a Marble Slab or a Coldstone to get my sweet fix. I love this place. I love their shaved ice. I heard it's better in TW, but this is not TW nor have I've ever been to TW. So this is really good for me compared to other shaved ice places I went to in Dallas and Houston. My favorite item is the shaved ice with strawberries, watermelon, honeydew, and mango topped with either strawberry or vanilla ice cream. I like how the shaved ice is fill with ton of condensed milk (so you don't have to ask for extra), and that's the secret to why it's so delicious. Too bad they have very limited ice cream options. Only the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry are available. I think it would be great if they add more ice cream flavors to the menu, such as green tea ice cream. So I got my order, drove home and surprise! There's mangos inside of my shaved ice with the strawberries I ordered. What happen to my watermelon? I wouldn't even mind if they forgot to put watermelon but instead the mixed it with something I can't eat. I ended up having to toss it out. Just very disappointed that I placed an order for something specifically because of my condition and didn't receive what I asked. Alright this store specialized in Taiwanese dessert. You kind of understand the meaning of that, that means you kind of grow up or live in Taiwan to completely understand and enjoy their specialized dessert. For example I go there just for their sweet peanut soup. Now most people think that is a cold dessert, but it is hot. One of the best in Houston by the way. The peanut is perfectly cook and the sweetness of the soup is just right. AWESOME !!! Being craving this for a while now. Yes they have your shaved ice and tapioca mango and strawberry smoothies, but it is the specialized dessert make them stand out. Oh the owner and employee are really cool. During my visit two handicap people come in the store and got one scoop of ice cream each. (handicap and in the wheel chair). They were digging for changes and looked like they were struggling to pay, out of no where the cashier said don't worry about it and took care of the bill. That is worth million stars in my book. The wait was long but to be expected on a Saturday night. The only disappointment was that they were out of tapioca when we went. But I got the black sugar taro shaved ice. I added sweet potato, flan, ice cream, and taro balls as toppings. Ended up being $14 almost but definitely a shareable amount. Everything was delicious. So many combinations of topping possible here. My rating might be inflated because I've never been to a shaved ice place with so many options. Every time I come here they jack up the price by .50 cents. The FRUIT GREEN TEA is now $5.50. I remember when it was about $4. It's not like they give more fruits or tea, quite the opposite actually. I was so sooo full that I couldn't even drink a bit from my smoothie regardless of the generous portion, it tastes AMAZING!! The fruits are very fresh. My dad said these were the types of desserts he used to have when he was younger. They have so many options to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming. We decided to go with the "classic" I assume which is ice, condensed milk, ice cream, and fruit of your choice. The large comes with 4 types of fruit while the smaller sizes come with 2 or 3. The original tasted amazing and I can't wait to go back and try it again. The milk chocolate with banana was good, but it was kind of weird. The chocolate and ice didn't really work well together in my opinion, but it was still pretty good. This place can get really crowded and you may feel a bit claustrophobic, but it is a great place to come with your friends. They have a bunch of things here but they are best known by their heavenly bowls of curated fruits of your choosing topped with ice cream of your choice all sitting on a bed of shaved ice doused in condensed milk and lord knows what else. I typically like the traditional red bean topping, but opted for some fresh fruit instead.
