If you're looking for a spot in La Jolla where you can grab something truly healthy, Juice Kaboose is a great little option. I ended up here after trying to get into another busy café nearby, but the lines were out of control, and I wasn't in the mood to wait. Juice Kaboose had no lines, so I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. I ordered a green juice packed with antioxidants, and it was delicious fresh, vibrant, and exactly what I needed. I also tried the turkey ciabatta sandwich which came with potato chips that I ended up throwing out. I wish they would have asked me if I wanted fruit. Oh well. . It was good overall, though I would personally recommend toasting the ciabatta a bit more so it's crispier, ensuring the lettuce is fully fresh with no wilted spots, and making sure the avocado is extra fresh with no discoloration. With those tweaks, it would be even better. The menu itself is impressive, and they have a wide variety of juices, smoothies, and healthy food options to choose from. The only downside for me was the weather; it was raining lightly, so I wasn't able to sit outside to enjoy my breakfast. There's no indoor seating, but they do offer several outdoor tables for nicer days. This is the PB location of Juice Kaboose with the other store being in downtown La Jolla. The suite was small and tucked behind shrubbery in the Pacific Plaza which has a congested parking lot during peak meal hours. There was one high-top table inside for seating and a few small tables out front on the sidewalk. The business was mainly order, grab, and go so it's convenient for those on the run with busy schedules. Six menu boards hung from the ceiling above the service counter. Acai and Pitaya bowls were listed on the far left board. Moving right, the next two boards displayed the House and Power Smoothies. Veggie and fruit juices made up the fourth board. Wraps, salads, and sandwiches showed up on the two far right boards. My goal was to get some liquid refreshment, and the choice was a Ma's Special from the House Smoothies. The ingredients were banana, strawberries, pineapple, and orange juice. About five minutes later, a 24 oz cup was ready for pickup at the side counter. For $8.95, the product was fairly standard in taste and size. I didn't request any extras like yogurt, sherbet, or agave nectar which came at no additional charge. Shots could be added for anywhere from $2.25 to $3.75 each. Aloe, chia, and turmeric were some of those selections. I ordered an available bowl and added almond butter. They slapped the hardened almond butter on the top and it was so awful i dumped it out with half the fruit. When i got to the açaí (which was right away) it was completely melted. They wouldn't refund it because i had left to go to work and couldn't bring it back. I threw it away because it was melted and i was on my way to work. The person who contacted me to tell me they wouldn't give me a refund was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. Needless to say i won't be back and hopefully i saved you the disappointment and wasted money. IN RESPONSE TO THE BUSINESS' response to my review: There was no lid on the açaí bowl and yes i added almond butter that was plopped on top and hard. You never ever mentioned needing original payment to refund you were extremely rude telling me there's no way to refund when i don't bring the bowl back even after i explained that i left to head to work and couldn't bring the melted bowl back to you. Açaí bowl should be removed from the menu. They're stored with the açaí base pre-blended so there's like a shaved ice texture to them. The açaí is very dull and lacking flavor. New girl at the counter was arrogant and unhelpful. They got my DoorDash order wrong and also overcharged for mods I didn't make. She told me to cancel the order on DoorDash and place a new one. I cancelled the original order but didn't get any refund for it and she refused to give me the sandwich that was already sitting there made. I walked out of there pretty pissed and with no lunch even though I was charged for a turkey ciabatta. Resolved the issue with DoorDash and they were great. Responding to owner: OK buddy, your employee of 6 years was rude and unhelpful. Why am I going to be charged for a cancelled (wrong) order and then charged again for a new one? You want me to pay for 2 sammies and only giving me one? Yeah no... All I wanted was a turkey ciabatta regular. No extra turkey. My DoorDash receipt didn't have any special notes on it either. When I did order, they unfortunately ran out of Sherbert which is one of the free add-ons you can include, but it was only 9am so I was surprised! After ordering, it only took a few minutes before they called out my order. - DRINKS - Tropical Smoothie ($8.00): Mangoes, Pineapple and Papaya blended up with Orange Juice. You could tell it was real fruit with some bits of fiber in the smoothie. Nice balance of flavors, and you don't usually see Papaya as an option, so that was unique! I've come to this place many many times and haven't been disappointed yet. I usually come at lunchtime and there is a small line but they get through it pretty quick. I suggest coming here for a fresh squeezed watermelon juice, or an açai bowl, or their vegan burrito. Parking is very easy and convenient. The food is made in a timely manner. I just started working t here a couple of weeks ago and I've come in a few different times already. First of all the service is great. They're always friendly and patient (I can be indecisive when I first visit a restaurant). It's small shop and they have seating for about 10 peopl They offer all sorts of smoothies, juices, shots, and food items. My favorite thus far is the mudslide smoothie along with the tuna melt, and Spicy Baja quesadilla. Their mango smoothie is good too though. The pricing seems fair given the price of food nowadays. Pre-pandemic I would have probably thought they were expensive, but they are right in line with other juice places I frequent.
