The wine selection is lackluster, lots of $9 stuff for $12.99. But the real issue was the pedantic and probably racist cashier. When requesting a bag, my wife asked if they had a larger size. Cashier goes off like it's some kind of outrageous dealbreaker of a request: "you said you want a bag, this is what we've got, and if you don't want these you're not getting a bag..." It was way over the top, and it seemed clear he felt he could talk down to her like that because she's a woman of color and speaks with a slight accent. It also tracks with some previous reviews. A quirky and cute, itty bitty teenie weenie wine store with a carefully edited selection of new and old world wines and excellent customer service. Based on my request for a less common grape varietal they didn't carry, they were able to steer me towards something similar that I had never tried before. This is the best wine store on the planet. I used to live across the street from here and while I'm generally too lazy to drag myself up the hill to go here regularly, I still make a trip at least once every other month or so. The staff is nice and incredibly knowledgeable. The selection is excellent (especially for such a small space!) and very fairly priced. Plus they have the cutest seasonal decorations. Seriously - check out the Halloween display right now. It's awesome! This would be a 5 star spot based on everything I already mentioned but I haven't even told you about the best part: they have a frequent shopper club! You get a punch card and get one punch for every bottle you purchase (wine/liquor it doesn't matter!) Once you get 12 punches, you can redeem it for any bottle $15 or less for a buck. What happened Juice Box? Used to be the best neighborhood source for wine: convenient, helpful staff that could point me towards a great-tasting wine for less than $13. "I'm having __ for dinner," I'd say and I'd walk out with three bottles each costing around $12 and all great. If they were sold out of the wine you like, they'd sell you another great wine. Johnny, the grad student, maybe steered me to one eh wine out of the 300+ bottles I bought from him. I went in yesterday. The cold rosés were all $18+, three varieties being more than $23. I sometimes buy a $20 bottle. I like wine. But I was directed towards a "dry" wine that was not great and definitely not better than the $13ish easy-going-down bottles I was getting last summer. The people working in there nowadays maybe drink wine sometimes? They maybe care if you buy wine? The woman who's there most of the time absolutely doesn't gaf if you buy wine. If you're gonna have the nerve to charge Cobble Hill prices on Prospect Ave, you better have a knowledgeable staff. I love wine but I'm not a wine connoisseur. This place takes the guesswork out of choosing a good inexpensive bottle in no time. I never feel overwhelmed and pretty much every bottle we've bought here was delightful. We used to live in the neighborhood but even though we moved we still go back often to stock up on bottles. I'm always discovering new wines here that I've never heard of but that quickly become favorites. I also really enjoy their ever changing store front decor and right now they have a wonderful stock of Rosé wines for the summer. read more

So Church Avenue's wine and liquor store closed near my apartment hopefully only temporarily. While out on a covid socially distanced walk I noticed this little gem and filed it down into the ole memory bank to check out once my supplies and rations have emptied themselves. Don't be misled by the name 'Juicebox'. I didn't investigate deep enough if they had any beer but nice selection of wines. It's a slightly more refined selection than my local wine store that's closer to me but they definitely still have affordable selections and even a $9.99 shelf! It is a tiny shop though so the selection is a bit more curated. I haven't even opened the bottles I got yet. But excited for the rose and chilean red wine I purchased. The store is super clean and presently only allows 3 people inside to shop at a time. So I felt pretty good about my decision to check out a new spot. This was a great neighborhood addition when it came about some years ago. It fits the bill when you need something fast and cheap. I wish they carried more biodynamic wines, more wines in the $20-$28 range which is where you start dealing with smaller producers. They only have a couple of​ wines that are in that range but they are mostly lower end and then jump to $40+. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. They have lots of bourbons and good whiskey options. It's just their wine, it could be a lot better of a selection. I prefer Slope Cellars if I'm looking for something actually good. Nice to have in the neighborhood though. read more

Quaint Wine Boutique in Windsor Terrace I went in to restock my wine collection but I was unable to find any of my favorite wine's. I asked if they carried the naked grape or once upon a vine and the attendant had never even heard of the brands. I thought that was a little odd. Especially since I am no wine snob. Maybe that was the problem? They boast a grand selection of boxed wines but I was very underwhelmed by their selection. Perhaps the selection was a tad to eclectic for my palate. read more

Right around the corner from the Ft.Hamilton subway station and open till 9pm every night. Good selection of wines and some under $10. I haven't been blown away by anything I've purchased here, but I'll keep trying. They have a wine punch-card for frequent buyers! Chilled wines are kept behind the register, so ask if they have what you want there. Pretty good, edited selection of liquors too. Staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, they make excellent recommendations. One time, I went in on the way back from a run, and the guy gave me a little discount because the bottle he recommended would have put me just over the $20 I brought. These guys are friendly and knowledgeable. They go out of their way to recommend and are sure to make you feel at home. Juice Box carries an excellent selection of spirits as well (sorry, no beer); many distilled in Brooklyn! Surprise!!!! They do tastings too and are apt to have you try something new. If they know you, they go out of their way to show you something out of the ordinary. Give them a try next time you need a bottle for dinner or to share with friends and family. Some wine shops (like the one on Prospect Park West) treat you like you have never tried wine before and that you aren't even sure that it is made from grapes. A great little wine shop that's the perfect pit stop when you're coming out of the subway from work and looking to take the edge off the day. The punch card frequent buyer program is great, and the owners/staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also were very nice in supporting my neighbor's non-profit fundraising event by supplying the wine for the "wine and hors d'oeuvres" night. They also have a very solid collection of spirits, including a great offering of scotches that I'm slowing working my way through. My only wish is that they had more selection in the $10-12 bottle range, as it seems most of their offerings are in the $16-20 point. I know, I'm cheap. read more

I don't recommend utilizing Juicebox for any wine deliveries, it won't come at the time they state, they won't give you a delivery time frame of when it will arrive after being 30 minutes late. We all understand Covid Times, but it shouldn't take over an hour to get alcohol delivered. read more

We looked around for a while and realized that many of the brands and varietals we like were there, at about a 40% markup. We were not surprised at all, considering certain trends in the area.
