It's basically carbonara pasta with bone marrow you scrape off from the bone. Sauce wasn't very flavourful and a bit too watered down. Still a good second visit.

I found it funny cause almost every item has the "favourite" symbol but everything tastes good! I love the decor inside. Lots of lights, florals and greenery. There is limited seating though since it gets busy - Maybe 10 tables of 4 on the outside perimeter and another 5 tables of 4 on the inside. We got the razor clams, 12 wings and beer special (after 8:30pm), smoked beet and pig ear salad, brisket and ribs and bun bo hue. The 12 wings and beer would have been such a good deal except the drink was pretty watered down. We brought it up to the waitress so hopefully they change that in the future. The wings were crispy,m and delicious. The razor clams tasted good too, but it only comes with 4. The smoked beet and pig eat salad was one of our favourites! Unique, flavourful and good crunchy textured. The brisket and ribs were another favourite. Tender and flavourful. The bun bo hue was good too. Service could have been better. One of the waiters wasn't that friendly. We still had a good time though and enjoyed the food. I would come back to try their other dishes.

There's a Dickey's Barbecue Pit that I pass by often in a plaza on the southwest corner of McCowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue. I'm often here for Shoppers Drug Mart, FreshCo, and Tastee Patties. While using my Uber Eats app last month, I was in the western part of Markham and noticed that there was a Dickey's nearby. I saw that the competition plate was discounted by 20%. I went ahead and ordered it for takeout. The competition plate consists of brisket and brisket burnt ends. I got to choose two sides. It came with a buttered roll. I got these sides: - Coleslaw - Baked beans I got my estimated time to pick my order up. I took my time getting there. Over the years, I have seen a number of businesses come and go in this plaza. Before Dickey's established its eatery on Woodbine Avenue, just north of Highway 7, it used to be Rooster's, a men's grooming store. Most businesses in this plaza are food and drink. It makes sense to me why it didn't survive. I found a parking spot fairly close to Dickey's. I backed into the spot and then walked in. I was the only customer in the eatery. A friendly man came out of the kitchen. I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order. He nodded and got my food for me. I thanked him and happily left with the goods. I drove home and ate everything for dinner. The competition plate was smaller than I had expected. Mind you, I've been spoiled having Crosstown BBQ's proteins for the last few months. The portions are generous at the latter. I realize that photos are deceiving. On Uber Eats, the brisket was sliced. My brisket looked like it was chopped up for someone who wears dentures and can't handle chewing thick slices of it. I don't know if the brisket was extremely tender that I got it in shambles. It was strange. The brisket was good. I didn't need to chew it much. It had good flavour. The brisket burnt ends were disappointing. They were definitely burnt to the point where all the moisture was missing. They were tough and not enjoyable to eat. I recommend passing on them unless you enjoy chewing on tough meat that worse than jerky and trying to hydrate it with your beverage. I liked the coleslaw. It was crunchy and mayonnaise-based. The dressing had good flavour. I got the baked beans. They were okay. They reminded me of opening a can of baked beans and seeing a small little fat cube. It didn't taste homemade. I don't mind canned baked beans, but I was expecting more ordering it from an eatery. Maybe the Dickey's sandwiches BOGO deals would be better. I should give this place another try, but I wouldn't get the competition plate again. (299)

Upon stepping…read moreinto the establishment, their menu was overwhelming and I really didn't know what I should get as a first timer. I figured a 3 meat plate lets me try multiple items all at once and is perfect for sharing. The 3 meat plate comes with your choice of any 3 slow smoked meats, any 2 homestyle sides and bread. I opted for a brisket, sausage, and chicken breast - which was highly recommended by the worker there. Got a slaw and macaroni for the sides. Tbh, I thought it was quite disappointing in both portions and taste. The sausage had a mushy texture, chicken didn't really have much flavour and definitely not a must get as suggested by the worker, and brisket was dry. I understand the $30 price point, since smoked meats aren't cheap, however it really did lack the flavour and smokiness overall for a bbq spot.

Both had long lineups around lunchtime, but I liked that this spot offers the option to pair your meats with either noodles or rice. The duck was meaty and plump, with beautifully glistening skin. The roasted pork was perfectly seasoned, featuring that addictively crisp, crackly skin. The BBQ pork was equally impressive, tender and juicy with a glossy, caramelized exterior that balanced sweet and savory flavors really well. None of the meats felt overly fatty or heavy, and when paired with steamed cabbage and your choice of noodles or rice, it made for a really satisfying meal. The vermicelli noodles were thick and chewy, and they come with a side of broth in addition to the soups. The soup itself was light with a pleasant herbal note. The noodle broth, however, had great chicken flavor but was slightly too salty for my taste, so I ended up diluting it a bit to fully enjoy it.

There has been a long debate as to left or right BBQ shop to reign supreme. I find the flavourings of HKS to suite my taste buds more. Not to say Excellent is bad but just not what I was brought up with. To each their own. The combo prices have slowly crept up over the years from the 5.99 two meal combo to the current 9.99 price point I enjoy the BBQ pork and duck as the pork has a nice meat texture with crisp skin along with the duck that is meaty and not too fatty with a nice seasoning to infuse through the meat while roasting. The shop is in a food court and if you are looking for a romantic meal for 2... this may not be your ideal destination. If you are looking for more of a HK hustle and bustle with a side attitude if you take too long to go with your meal, this is the place for you. Do prepared for a long queue to get your meal during the prime weekend times that may be up to 40+ minutes to get your meal
