Tried this spot on a weekday night and it was quite busy! The food in general is just okay in my opinion. We ordered a variety of meat, rolls, and other apps. They also have a self serve salad, soup, and dessert bar. I find that they had a better variety of menu items, but it felt more like quantity over quality here. The meats just weren't that good and I also didn't really like how they marinated their meats. There sushi on the other hand is good - specifically their rolls. I visited once in 2025. At the time, a staff member comes to your table and reminds you repeatedly that you have 2 hours to dine in. This person collects your order (old school with a pen and paper, no iPad ordering system here) before you get a chance to read through the menu (which you pull up on your own phone upon scanning a QR code) so you are just scrolling through the menu and calling things out as you read it as they stand over you and wait until you have placed your first batch order. The meat was really good. Sushi selection wasn't the greatest but some good quality cuts of the raw fish. Basically, dont come here only for the sushi or you will be disappointed. They are all overly garnished for eye candy appeal in my opinion. I definitely left feeling full. Small buffet with appetizers and deserts. First time coming in for my birthday. It was a Tuesday evening and I had reservations for 530. They had a strict 2 hr seating and last call. By the time I left at 730, there were still tons of people waiting in line on a Tuesday night! This place is pretty popular and the service was great. I actually liked it more than gyubee. They had more variety, snacks and sushi. I really liked the wagu roll, the shrimp tempura was very fresh and everything I thought was good! They had a snack station and dessert station with shaved ice, ice cream and little puddings like lychee yogurt, creme brûlée. It was $44.99 mon-thurs and kids $20.99, 0-4 yrs old is $3. Wow, this place was busy! First off, the parking lot for this plaza is always hectic - and especially so during weekends. We went late afternoon on a Saturday and parked all the way in the back near Ithaca. We had reservations so we were seated immediately and they noted our 1 hour 45 minute dining time. During the entire time we were there, there was a wait! We were a group of 11 and got two grills but it felt like three would've been much better. However, they don't have enough seating for how busy they are so I get why we only got two. We got the special lunch menu, which is priced at $29.99. It's normally 3% off if you pay cash but they also had a promo where if you follow/like their social media AND pay cash, it's 5% off. The service was great. They kept coming by to check on us, seeing if we needed anything else, changing the grill, etc. I think this price for the lunch special is pretty great. Of course, there is a good variety of bbq meats as well as sushi, and other ready-to-eat items that you can order. The sushi specifies how many pieces it comes with. I ordered some that only came with 1 PC (which is what I wanted) but they ended up giving us a whole plate without asking... which meant that I had to finish it ~_~. Service was amazing with the waiters always around to take our orders and take away dishes. However, the food lacked some flavour and the floors of the restaurant were so slippery and definitely a falling hazard. I found myself skating around the restaurant whenever I got up to get some food from the cold bar or dessert bar. The cold bar tongs were quite sticky and gross to hold, letting me know that they aren't cleaned frequently from everyone touching it. Appreciated that the portions of each plate we order was small so that we were able to try a lot of items on the menu. Like that they had raw takaki, but their sushi weren't that good. Had to come check out Gyuyaki's special hours AYCE BBQ after hearing about a friend's great experience. We made a reservation, so we were seated right at noon. If we hadn't, we would have waited for a long time. The beef, especially the thin cuts, were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The salad bar had many items, among them was wasabi and lettuce, which went with the ayce bbq very well. There was also a dessert bar with some small puddings and a shaved ice machine (which sadly broke down). The downside was that they were not clear (and could not, would not answer questions) about how many slices one order was. We could order 2 servings, 5 servings... still get a single plate all the same. Better to just order one by one and keep topping up I guess? But it was slightly confusing and frustrating. The service was impeccable. I liked that they kept coming around to take additional orders, and exchanged the grill proactively. And the dishes were cleared in no time. I was surprised to see the handwashing sink in the washroom dirty. There are only 2 stalls and not accessible. They may have a separate accessibility washroom. Free wifi - you can scan the QR code. Service - 4/5: They will call out your name when your table is ready. I appreciated the Japanese greeting when you are brought in to your seats. Most of the servers speak in Mandarin, a few in Cantonese. Their English is ok, enough to communicate. You scan the QR code to access the menu. They have a regular menu and special menu. I didn't look into the special menu. 1.75hr seating time, last call in the last 15min of seating time. There were a few birthdays and the staff come out with LED light wands. The happy birthday song is broadcasted from their TV screens. My only complaint - the grill is on max and it takes so long to make food. Food - 4/5: we tried -prime kalbi -black pepper beef brisket -beef tendon strips with truffle salt -beef tongue -angus steak (thick cut) - highly recommended -signature beef short ribs -pork belly (thick cut) -signature pork chuck -foil grilled: salmon with sake, clams with sake and butter, cheese corn, mixed mushroom with garlic - don't order so many as they take a long time to heat up. They are good once heated out. Be careful removing the foil. It is really hot -vegetables: zucchini, okra, king oyster with soy marinated -drinks: crysanthemum or the sour plum soup. They have the same appearance and colour so you'll have to try it out. As we did not order spicy, most of meat are marinated in a sweet marinade. There is a dry spice mix and soy sauce at the table, as well as communal sauce bar. I didn't need to use any except for the zucchini and okra. They have other things on the menu like sushi but we didn't try any. Recommendation: it seems like you cannot reserve unless it is a large group (1 reservation was for a group of 8). And this wasn't just a novelty either - the sushi was tasty (though flashy, so if you want simple & classic sushi, this is not the place for you; some pieces fell apart too). The meats were of pretty good quality too. There was a self serve appetiser/dessert bar, with 3 non carbonated drinks included. The appetisers were decent & there was even seafood boil (though it was meh). The restaurant was very busy and without a reservation the wait would have been long, so I was glad we booked ahead. Service was quick and our grill was changed regularly, which I really appreciated. They also have desserts, beverages, and salad bar items available on self-serve, and everything looked fresh and well prepared. My only real disappointment was with the meats. I understand they need to balance costs for AYCE, but some of the cuts felt mixed together in a way that wasn't as enjoyable, and trimming could have been handled better. It would also help if there was clearer communication about whether the meats are ordered by piece or by dish, since it created some confusion throughout our meal. On the bright side, the sushi rolls and fried items were much better than expected for an AYCE spot. However, the meat selection is limited in comparison to the other spots and the cuts weren't the best and the self-serve salad bar, soups, desserts, and drinks is probably where they try to make up for it. Their washrooms aren't the cleanest too (it reminded me of congee queen lol). What a restaurant... This AYCE restaurant has been heavily advertised up by the media, but didn't live up to its hype. First off their waitlist situation is atrocious. There is an option to join the waitlist online, but it does not work. Rather, you have to check in with the hostess and then you can join the waitlist. Unless your party is five or greater, you can't book a reservation through their website. After an hour and a half of waiting (we were told it was a 1 hour wait), we finally got seated. Our server was ready to take our order and we started to tell our server everything we wanted. Even after only choosing one set of (almost) everything on the menu, the waiter decided to make a weird comment about whether or not we can finish the all food -- and proceeds to mention that they will be an additional charge if we waste anything. This happened as soon as we sat down, and I thought that this was very offputting and already set a bad tone for the night. After the first round, we didn't think that it was too much food, especially since everything was so small. FOOD: The food was not that great the box sushi rice was falling apart and some meats were not seasoned correctly (beef with truffle salt... but didn't taste any truffle) and some didn't look fresh. The bibimbap had too much sauce while simultaneously having no flavour -- same goes with the soba noodles. The food on the menu definitely looks better than in person. My favourite food item of the night was the self serve bingsu station but I am confident I can recreate it at home. Relatively new JBBQ place on Hwy 7, in that plaza with inadequate parking. They've got a couple of unique things going for them. One is the AYCE sushi along with the regular grilled meat stuff. The sushi looks impressive with all its fancy ingredients and gold flake but it wasn't anything special. A little underwhelming honestly, but I get that it's more of a gimmick than anything. Another gimmick is their shaved ice machine, which I totally buy into. What a fun idea! The quality of the meat was decent. I don't particularly remember it being a stand-out, nor do I remember being disappointed. Just right. I think the unique thing about Gyuyaki is their variety. Really love the different things you can get as well as the dessert bar. Service was good as servers came by often and changed out our grills frequently. I came here for my birthday after hearing it was opened by the same owners as Ichiban AYCE Sushi, which I've always liked. Booking was easy, and we got a 7:30 PM Sunday spot. We were seated quickly, and service was friendly and fast. The place isn't huge but fits a good number of people. One thing to keep in mind is that groups of five only get one grill, which isn't ideal when there's a 1 hour 45 minute time limit. It also felt a bit cramped. Our table had a divider down the middle, and the three wide chairs on one side barely fit unless everyone squeezed together. Their biggest table seems to seat about eight comfortably, maybe ten, and those get two grills. That said, the waitresses were great about changing out the foil grills regularly without being asked, which was a nice touch. And if the lights at your table feel too bright, it looks like they're able to adjust them. I saw them tape over the lights for the table next to us to help dim it. You order through a QR code, but the system could be better. The menu is split into separate tabs, and opening one closes the others, which makes it slower to browse. Some items are labeled "coming soon," which just adds unnecessary clutter and confusion. Most dishes are one to two servings, so it would make more sense to use smaller plates, especially with how limited the table space is. A few times we got large plates for just two pieces of sushi, which felt a bit excessive. I tried almost everything and was happy with the quality, especially the sushi and steak. I liked the drink options (AYCE soft drinks, green rice tea, herbal five flower tea, and plum juice), but keep in mind that the soft drinks might only be free during their soft opening. I also liked the creamy lobster bisque, even though it didn't really taste like lobster. I just wish it was plain like a typical lobster bisque and not filled with so many mushrooms and crab stick. For dessert, there's DIY shaved ice with a toppings bar, an assortment of pudding (my favorite was the pomelo mango pudding)/mousse/yogurt and ice cream (green tea, mango, and vanilla). No crème brûlée or melonas! There's a 2% discount if you pay cash. No birthday perks or senior discounts. Price is fair for what you get. There's still room for improvement, especially with the seating and ordering system, but for a soft opening, it's off to a decent start. It was a busy night and upon entering, they told us we had to wait 30 mins and then another 30 mins...but we finally got our table at around 7:25. So beware even with a reservation, you'll be waiting close to an hour. Parking is also horrendous! We were seated at a booth with 1 grill for 6 people is not ideal. We were originally a group of 7 and even then they wanted to put us at the same table with 1 grill?! Our server once we got seated was nice. He explained where we can get our drinks, salad, soup, and dessert. He was also very efficient with the ordering process and the food came out very fast and no orders were missed. Not sure what his name was but a slightly older gentlemen. He kept checking in and asked if we wanted to order more food. I found the bbq meat to be okay but would have preferred it to be more marinated. The star of the show was actually the sushi. The Truffle Pepper Roll is a must get! The lobster bisque was also pretty good and there was a good selection of appetizers (seaweed salad, mango salad, beansprout, seafood boil, etc) at the self serve salad bar. The drink section had pop and orange juice. I didn't see until later but the dessert station also had plum juice and herbal tea. The dessert station had shaved ice and yogurt/pudding. June 10, 2025 - I heard this restaurant opened pretty recently I went to check it out with a friend. It serves Japanese BBQ and Sushi and we ordered an assortment of both. Everything from Beef, Pork, Chicken, Lamb and seafood. The food was extremely high quality and seasoned very well. The meats were nice and tender and easy to eat. Upon entering the establishment I checked in with the hostess for my reservation for 4 and she said that all parties needs to be here in order to seat, even tho I told her they were parking. My family is a big fan of AYCE sushi spots but decided to try this Japanese bbq and sushi spot for a change. The service was lovely (Frankie was our server and he was pleasant and kind and very patient with our group as it was our first time). I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance as when we arrived there were several groups waiting to be seated but we got seated right away as we had a reservation! The food- I'm not a meat eater so I did find that there weren't as many non fried pescatarian or vegetarian options. I had majority of my meal from the salad bar and a few pieces of their sushi. My group who did enjoy meat LOVED the meat options, they came out quick! The only issue was as a table of 6 we were seated in a big booth which made it difficult to share the grill between 6 people and hard for those not seated at the end to head to the buffet bar. We visited Gyuyaki Friday evening around 7 pm. The parking lot was veerrrry full and we had to park pretty far away from the restuarant. The interior is nice and loud as there was a lot of people. We made a reservation so there wasn't any wait time. There was 6 of us but we were seated at a table with one grill which we didn't like. The server was friendly but was busy so he wasn't attentive to us which caused us to wait longer to put our orders in. This restuarant has a soup, salad and dessert bar. I loved this. The soups were so good! I'd recommend the lobster bisque or miso soup. The dessert bar was pretty standard with ice cream, shaved ice, toppings and a varity of puddings. The actual menu has a good variety. The quality of the meat is amazing. I loved the kalbi and short ribs. The sushi is good but not amazing. Gyuyaki is probably one of my favourite Japanese all you can eat barbeque spot in the GTA. They have a variety of appetizers, sushi, as well as a salad, soup and a dessert bar. What differs this spot from any other all you can eat barbeque, is their service and quality of food. Staff were attentive, efficient and friendly. Each table had a time limit of 90 minutes - and they will let you know ahead the remaining time. We were a big fan of their beef and pork cuts - they were seasoned well and very flavourful. We took advantage and tried all of their sushi rolls which were beautifully presented and delicious. I loved that the rolls weren't too big - there were less rice, and more toppings which I liked. This is definitely the spot to visit if you're craving Japanese bbq, sushi and yummy desserts. (We also loved their seafood boil and bingsu!) read more

I came here on a friend's recommendation, and I'm glad I did! It was one of my best meals this year. As soon as I sat down, I helped myself to hot soup and condiments from the salad bar before diving into plates of thinly sliced meats. The quality was solid across the board, with the standout for me being the #102 Black Pepper Beef Brisket. Beyond the meats, their sushi game impressed me. Creative rolls like the #602 Gyuyaki Roll and #608 Rice Paper Pepper Salmon Roll gave familiar flavours a fresh twist. For just $1 more, unlimited drinks sealed the deal. Desserts were just as plentiful, from chrysanthemum jelly to ice creams and shaved ice with toppings. At $31.99 for the lunchtime special, the variety and value are hard to beat.
