Came to Yakiniku Legend for a family member's birthday dinner with a reservation for 8 people at 8 PM on a Thursday. Everyone had arrived by the time we got there, so we were seated right away. Once our orders were placed, the food came out surprisingly quickly, which was impressive considering how much we ordered. There were plenty of beef options, and honestly, almost everything we tried was worth getting. My personal standouts were the Miso Marinated Steak, Prime Kalbi, and Sweet Soy Marinated Short Ribs. For pork, the Miso Pork Belly was my favourite. For chicken, I only tried the wings, but I really liked that they were sliced from the wing to make them essentially a single bone, which made them much easier to cook and eat. The vegetables were fresh, with my top three being the Cheese Corn, Garlic Enoki Mushrooms, and Pineapple. I didn't personally try the seafood, but there were four seafood selections available. For sides, I tried the Edamame (no salt) and the Brown Sugar Sticky Rice Roll. There were also sashimi and sushi options. I really enjoyed the Beef Tataki and Smoked Salmon Tataki, followed by the Golden Salmon Roll and Hokkaido Scallop Roll. For rice, I went with the Bibimbap, and for noodles, I tried the Cold Noodles. The flavour was good, but the portion was extremely small -- basically only about two bites. The pop drinks were refillable with a one-time fee, while the other drinks were available for an additional charge and had to be requested from the server. They're displayed near the condiments and dessert area. And of course, dessert! My personal favourites were the Matcha/Vanilla Soft Serve, Mango Pudding, and the Coffee and Matcha Pudding. There is a 2-hour limit per table, but I personally felt that was plenty of time. We were able to order a lot, try a wide variety of food, and leave extremely full. If anything, I probably overdid it and should have taken it a little easier! One thing I really appreciated was the seating. There was noticeably more space between tables compared with many other AYCE Korean/Japanese BBQ restaurants I've been to. The restaurant also felt well-ventilated and comfortable, which makes a big difference when you're sitting around a grill for two hours. Overall, I felt the experience was well worth the time and money, especially for a group dinner or birthday. This restaurant is always busy with a long line up. I came on a Monday evening, and it was packed. I paid $55 per person for a weekday dinner. Service was okay, it was hard at times to flag down our server and some of our items kept getting missed, but it was okay, they immediately tried to get our order correct. Meats are fresh and flavourful. Their salad, appetizer, and dessert bar have a decent variety. They have a soft serve machine. Seats are very comfy and spacious. The spot is really solid that I've been back twice within a month. First time I made the mistake of coming on Father's Day, and the Yelp waitlist was oh so wrong with the estimated seating time. It was off by 2 hours. Second time on a regular day, the waitlist was much more accurate! But the food and selection here is so good that I keep thinking about this meal over and over again! We were quite thrilled to try this new place out, and it was pretty busy! They don't take reservations for groups under 6 so just be prepared for a bit of a wait. I think that's pretty typical for most of these types of places now anyway. I loved the open salad bar. You can grab your sauces and salads yourself, along with some fruits and desserts. The tataki's were fantastic, both salmon and beef ones. I loved all the veggie and beef options available for bbq-ing, and they had great sushi options too! The scallop sushi (hokkaido roll) was the best one I think, and they also had fried capelin fish, which is a childhood favourite of mine. Absolutely enjoyed the wide variety of selection. Their short ribs were also really lovely. Sweet and well marinated. They had a large drinks selection and some specials going on for some asian pops. I was able to pick a few and take them home to enjoy, which was lovely. The only thing I didn't like were the desserts. Most AYCE desserts are meh. So absolutely delicious. I can see why this place was slammed. Each cut of meat was perfect, especially the steak which we ordered multiples of. Meat aside, the self serve salad and sides bar, which included soup, was a great touch as well. The food here gets a 10/10 from me. Given how busy it was, it was a bit hectic - from the moment we stepped in, we had to wait a while for our table. We also had a massive table of over 10 people so it was a bit challenging to order sometimes (our fault). Recently visited this new Japanese BBQ spot and was really impressed from the moment I walked in. The restaurant is beautifully designed and spotlessly clean, which set a great tone. The meat selection is wide, and the freshness really stood out, especially the unmarinated cuts. They let you actually taste the quality of the beef, and I personally preferred those over the marinated options. The sushi was also a pleasant surprise, they use just the right amount of rice, so the fish takes center stage. On the downside, a couple of things could be improved. Flagging down a server for additional orders can be tough when it's busy, ordering extra per round helps. Also, the dessert area felt a bit narrow and awkwardly placed; it could use a better station setup to avoid congestion. Overall, the food quality makes it worth a visit. I made a reservation for my group of 7 on a Monday at 8pm. We got seated at 8:20pm. I believe reservations are only for groups of 6 or more. Like almost every other table there, we were also celebrating a birthday. For the celebration they play the HBD song on the speakers, bring out a LED board, a mini cupcake with candle and streamers too! It's a fun place. We paid $43.99/person for AYCE. Drinks are not included but soft drinks are so cheap, at $0.99-$1.99. Their drinks are not just the standard pop like Pepsi. There was a big selection of Asian drinks, most I've never heard of like fermented sparkling plum juice. There is so much variety of meats including seafood, a salad bar, sushi, desserts and a soft serve machine offering matcha and vanilla. I would say the quality of the meats here were very good. We had pork belly, short ribs, squid, garlic shrimp, cheesy corn, enoki mushrooms, and much, much more. You can easily get your money's worth especially since you have 2 hours to dine. I would just skip the beef finger meat as it was chewy. I especially like the bbq seasoning powder they provide. Our main waitstaff was Jason. He was incredible. Another fantastic addition to the Asian BBQ scene in the GTA. Yakiniku offers high quality meats, all self-cooked on a personal grill. They have a salad bar where you can also get all the fixings for your Korean style wraps like lettuce and kimchi. They also have different types of sushi for order, including raw beef and torched sushi. It's a truly pan-Asian experience. The restaurant is located inside a huge space within Hillcrest Mall. Despite its size, it's incredibly packed just because people in Toronto love lining up for stuff. The good thing is you can put yourself on a waitlist an then go shop around inside the mall. You'll need that flexibility because it can take 1-2 hours to get off the list. The price is on par with other BBQ places, about $50 for dinner. Overall a pretty good experience. We have also been to the McCaul location, the RH location is wider and easier to sit with more space. There is also a cold bar to pick up some salads and soups before starting your bbq. New Yakiniku Legend bbq at Hillcrest Mall! It's between Sporting Life/Paris Baguette and the old Hudson Bay entrance. The restaurant is huge and spacious, however making reservation is mandatory or else the wait is going to be long. I made reservation for mother's day two weeks in advance. I got a text the same day asking me to confirm the reservation. I got there right at 5pm for my reservation and it was already PACKED. I had to make my wait to the front to show them my text. Instead of texting you again to let you know the table is ready, they just yelled your name so you should stay nearby. We got our table within 5 mins and the server told us there was a 2 hours limit. We got a bunch of meat to start off and walked up to the salad bar for some side dishes and desserts. You could go up and get your own drinks or the server could get it for you. The drinks by the fridge are $1 each and it's not something you would see at normal restaurants. They hired a lot of servers and they all spoke english, which was good. The hot dishes and sushi came a bit later but the meat came quick. Our favorite was the brisket and rib steak. It's a must order!! So tender and juicy. Yummm! No additional discount for cash (probably because of mother's day) and no senior discount. We will come back when the crowd dies down a bit. read more

Tried their AYCE lunch menu, which was totally worth the price. The meat quality was really good. The chicken was juicy and tender. I seldom eat beef (even steak) because it's often hard to chew, but their beef slices were very soft. In fact, all of the beef items on the lunch menu are worth trying. Their Signature Capelin Fish was also a highlight. The fish was deep-fried and coated in a sweet and sour sauce. Even the bones were crispy enough to chew and swallow. Their beverage and desert were also great. Selected beverages were only $0.99 for a whole can/bottle which you'd pay for $2-3 each outside. The Matcha Red Bean pudding was smooth and had a strong matcha flavour. Service was attentive and fast. The staff would order for you. The place looks new and clean, seems to have recently opened. Their floor however tends to get sticky, hope it won't become super sticky as they continue operating. I would come back again for their dinner menu. Keep it up! My boyfriend and I went to Yakiniku Legend at Hillcrest Mall with a few friends for lunch on a Saturday, and wow... this place was PACKED when we arrived around 1230pm! They just opened at 12pm and it was already a full house, so we joined the Yelp Waitlist (thank goodness for that!) and ended up waiting about an hour before getting seated around 130pm. The lunch menu has fewer items compared to the All-Day menu, but there was still a pretty good selection to choose from, including Black Pepper Kalbi, miso beef and pork, beef short ribs, seafood, sushi, and more. The beef was generally quite tender, and I especially enjoyed the thicker cuts like the kalbi and beef short ribs. They also have a self-serve salad and appetizer bar, a dessert fridge, and an ice cream machine, so there was definitely no shortage of things to eat! The lunch selection may be a little more limited compared to the All-Day menu, but there was still enough variety to keep everyone happy. I made quite a few lettuce wraps which increased my appetite and I would say I ate my worth for once! Our server, Terrence, was also great! He was attentive and would check in on us whenever he passed by, but he also mostly let us enjoy our meal without constantly interrupting, which I really appreciated. If you're celebrating a birthday, they offer 20% off for the birthday person during their birthday month, and this does apply to the lunch menu too! I've been wanting to try the downtown location for a long time! Finally, they are opened uptown at Hillcrest mall. Yakiniku Legend is located beside Sporting Life near entrance 1. They have a salad bar where there is cold shrimp, corn, vegetables and you can add your own salad dressings. They also have soup such as fish maw soup which is unique. The meat were fresh and nicely marinated. Along with shrimp seafood, clams, The rolls were tasty. The desserts were so so, except the ice cream machine, you can get vanilla, matcha or mix.
