New Yakiniku Legend bbq at Hillcrest Mall! It's between Sporting Life/Paris Baguette and the old Hudson Bay entrance. The restaurant is huge and spacious, however making reservation is mandatory or else the wait is going to be long. I made reservation for mother's day two weeks in advance. I got a text the same day asking me to confirm the reservation. I got there right at 5pm for my reservation and it was already PACKED. I had to make my wait to the front to show them my text. Instead of texting you again to let you know the table is ready, they just yelled your name so you should stay nearby. We got our table within 5 mins and the server told us there was a 2 hours limit. We got a bunch of meat to start off and walked up to the salad bar for some side dishes and desserts. You could go up and get your own drinks or the server could get it for you. The drinks by the fridge are $1 each and it's not something you would see at normal restaurants. They hired a lot of servers and they all spoke english, which was good. The hot dishes and sushi came a bit later but the meat came quick. Our favorite was the brisket and rib steak. It's a must order!! So tender and juicy. Yummm! No additional discount for cash (probably because of mother's day) and no senior discount. We will come back when the crowd dies down a bit.

Tried their AYCE lunch menu, which was totally worth the price. The meat quality was really good. The chicken was juicy and tender. I seldom eat beef (even steak) because it's often hard to chew, but their beef slices were very soft. In fact, all of the beef items on the lunch menu are worth trying. Their Signature Capelin Fish was also a highlight. The fish was deep-fried and coated in a sweet and sour sauce. Even the bones were crispy enough to chew and swallow. Their beverage and desert were also great. Selected beverages were only $0.99 for a whole can/bottle which you'd pay for $2-3 each outside. The Matcha Red Bean pudding was smooth and had a strong matcha flavour. Service was attentive and fast. The staff would order for you. The place looks new and clean, seems to have recently opened. Their floor however tends to get sticky, hope it won't become super sticky as they continue operating. I would come back again for their dinner menu. Keep it up! Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 4.8/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - 5/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 4.6/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 5/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 5/5 OVERALL - 4.88

I've been wanting to try the downtown location for a long time! Finally, they are opened uptown at Hillcrest mall. Yakiniku Legend is located beside Sporting Life near entrance 1. They have a salad bar where there is cold shrimp, corn, vegetables and you can add your own salad dressings. They also have soup such as fish maw soup which is unique. The meat were fresh and nicely marinated. Along with shrimp seafood, clams, The rolls were tasty. The desserts were so so, except the ice cream machine, you can get vanilla, matcha or mix. Service was very attentive, friendly service, our waitress promptly takes our order and collects the dishes when we are done. The seatings were comfy and nice lighting. After we are done dinner, we can go shopping at Hillcrest, very convenient!

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

That's because every other guest was a well-known "regular" -- a very good sign. We were ushered through the tranquil restaurant and seated at the sushi bar, a zen ambience. We chose the $55 sushi+sashimi omakase lunch course, and it didn't disappoint. The eight pieces of nigiri featured a somewhat typical selection of fish (and hotate/scallop), but slightly edgy and unique in the choice of seasoning and flavours, prepared by Chef Takinami with all the pomp and ceremony and you would expect from fine omakase. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed from piece to piece; the wait staff were attentive as would be expected from a high-end Japanese restaurant, on par with omakases that cost three times as much. Overall, incredible value on the meal, for both the food and experience. We couldn't help but look around at what the regulars were enjoying (in addition to their omakase nigiri) -- botan ebi nigiri with deep fried shrimp heads, chawanmushi, cooked dishes featuring monk fish livers, tempura appetizers and more... some great ideas for our next visit!

We were brought to a table that was just being reset, and when asked to switch to a larger table, they had no issue with it. We asked for pu-erh and tieguanyin tea for the table; they brought us two pots of tieguanyin. Relatively easy fix but when we asked for pu-erh they almost brought us heung-pin. The wait staff was okay, most were pleasant. A few didn't look very happy to be there, maybe they were bored, it wasn't busy. I did find it was somewhat difficult to get their attention when we were looking for someone. Some of the food was served hot (dry fried beef noodle, glutinous meat dumpling) but unfortunately most of the food was warm, at best. The beef noodle was actually very tasty, and probably the best item we had. Sadly, the part that really leaves me uneasy is their fish tank. Three out of the four tanks were empty with green algae, with a dead fish at the bottom of the fourth. The optics really don't serve the restaurant in a positive way whatsoever. Honestly speaking, I lost my appetite once I realized what I saw.

The food was good, as expected like a typical Chinese dinner. The portions were decent and the food had good flavour. It didn't wow but hit the spot. They don't have complimentary soup but we ordered their daily soup and it was reasonable priced. The highlight was the complimentary dessert which included a sweet potato sago, mango jello and almond cookies. The service was very good though. They were so attentive and quick to action. I believe this is the same owner as Yumi Legend.

We told ourselves that we would monitor the waitlist on the drive. Started to drive/chat and randomly checked the waitlist to see 38 parties already joined. I swear it didn't feel like 10 minutes had even pass. We joined at 5:56pm and got seated just after 8pm. My friend and I did a lot during the two hours so I would recommend doing something in the meantime to dine here. Dinner was great here. Ordered the shaoxing wine drunken chicken pot and added additional veggies, wonton and mushroom. Salt and pepper corn is a must try. Lemon tea was so refreshing here. Servers come by for soup refills and they help clear the impurities of the soup. Great service overall. Although on the pricier side, this was still 5 stars overall.

We ordered chicken broth and it was rich and flavorful, ingredients were extremely fresh, and the quality of the meats and seafood really stood out. Every dish we ordered tasted amazing nothing disappointed!!! Since this is a Hong Kong style hot pot, the environment was super comfortable and truly felt like being in Hong Kong. The vibe with Cantonese songs playing in the background while we enjoyed our dinner, which made the whole experience even more authentic and relaxing. If you're craving hotpot in Toronto, Loon Fong Hotpot is a must try!!! I'll definitely be coming back again!!!

It was a really nice spot for a special night... cozy, welcoming, and not overly loud. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the saganaki was definitely the standout. The wait staff brought it out and poured a shot of liquor over the cheese before lighting it on fire at the table, which added a fun touch without feeling gimmicky. Beyond the presentation, the cheese itself was excellent... crisp on the outside, warm and soft inside, and really well seasoned. Easily something I'd come back for. The mango ginger spritz was light and refreshing, not too sweet, the Australian lamb chops were cooked nicely, tender, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. We ended the perfect night with baklava and vanilla ice cream. It was flaky, just sweet enough to be shared between us. Portions weren't huge, but we left feeling content. We did have to make a reservation well in advance, which I'd definitely recommend. Prices feel appropriate for a special occasion rather than an everyday dinner.
