3.5 STARS Came here on a Sunday. Was able to make reservations last minute. When I got there, it wasn't busy. Came hungry, so the three of us ordered a lot on the first round to try a little bit of everything. Some of the meats were really good and tender, but some were really chewy and tough. The sizzling hamburg steak was on the salty side, the salmon carpaccio wasn't fresh and had a fishy aftertaste; the beef carpaccio was okay, but after a while you get sick of the creamy sauce they have on top. Pumpkin soup was okay, but you can tell they add in too much butter, you get sick of it after having a couple spoonfuls. Sushi was underwhelming, like most Japanese bbq places that do offer sushi. The cold noodles were chewy, they don't use soba noodles which was not bad. The crispy fish bites came out crispy and delicious. The brown sugar rice cake was also surprisingly good as well. Services were amazing though, we had Vivian. She was quick and attentive, and took our empty plates away as soon as she saw them. Since it was soft opening, I believe in a month's time, hopefully they will get busy and improve. Gyubee is still top of the list in terms of ayce Japanese bbq.

Had a great experience at this bbq restaurant! The Black Truffle Hotate and cold noodles were my absolute favourites -- both are must-tries! Great food and a satisfying dining experience. Definitely coming back!

We tried the All day menu. The ribeye steak was a good size. The giant beef slices were fresh and tasty. My family had quite a few bowls of pumpkin soup. They have miso salmon and sake steamed clams. The sushi rolls were smaller in real life compared to the photos. Those were okay and nothing to write home about. They have stone bibimbap, stone grilled Hamburg steak was unique for AYCE! I really enjoyed the Morioka Cold Noodle. For dessert they have Almond Milk Pudding, Crème Brûlée, and chocolate and vanilla ice cream! Comfy seatings and friendly service!

All of their meats were fresh, well tempered (not stale/straight out of the freezer). Condiment bar was self serve and had a wide selection to customize your sauce. Their veggies were also very fresh & the appetizers such as wings & the squid ink dumpling were AMAZING. Soft drinks are also included in the Premium AYCE price at $45/pp after tax. All of their waitstaff we interacted with were kind, patient, attentive, and helpful. Their seating layout is also notable-- each individual table was enclosed, it gave a more cozy/private feel rather than loud & overstimulating despite dining during peak hour. If I could critique even just one thing, it'd be the dessert options, almond pudding and ice jelly were a bit disappointing to end the meal with cuz they weren't great in our opinion, but not problematic enough for me to dock a star. Next time I'm craving hotpot, Daimaru will absolutely be at the top of my choice list moving forward!

Back again and incredible again…read more Small tip. You don't need to order on only one phone. As long as you scan the bar code, you can order from any phone. Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Sumoki Yakitori offers tasty Japanese-style skewers and small plates. The grilled items are cooked just right--smoky, juicy, and full of flavour. There's a good variety to choose from; chicken, beef and vegetables. We ordered "Age Mochi", "Chicken Oyster", "Momo", "Negima", "Tsukune + Egg Yolk Dip", "Cheese Momo", Hiza (Knee Cartilage)", Beef Tongue", "Beef Tenderloin + Chimichurri", "Garlic Sprout Maki", "Mentaiko Carbonara Udon", "Yaki-Onigiri (2 pcs)", and "Breast w/ Wasabi". Every skewer was fresh and tasty. My favourite was Beef Tenderloin with Chimichurri. We paired our meal with beautiful drinks that hit the spot: "Yamayuzu Matcha" and "Fairy Yuzu". To finish on a sweet note, we ordered "Grilled Mochi (Sweet)" and "Dango", which we enjoyed.

My favorite was the torched salmon belly, I haven't had that in a chirashi bowl before. I also liked the seasoning of the rice. My friends ordered the miki dinner and it came with amazing variety. There are only about 4 to 5 spots in the front, and while there are some smaller plaza parking lots nearby and another parking lot across the street, most of the spots are marked for whatever store they're in front of, so park at your own risk. Upon entering, there aren't that many tables either. There isn't a lot of room for bigger groups but they can merge some of the tables together. The biggest issue for us was definitely how long and uneven the wait for the food was. We ordered at 12:15 PM and got our salads about 10 minutes later, but after that, the food came out pretty sporadically. The first actual dish didn't come until 12:44 PM, which was the tempura from the two-person set. Parts of the other meals and the rest of the two-person set slowly came out between 12:46 and 12:49 PM. The 30-piece sashimi and sushi set didn't arrive until 1:04 PM, almost 50 minutes after we ordered, and the actual salmon teriyaki which was just a small salad, salmon teriyaki and steamed rice from the bento was the last thing to come out at 1:09 PM, about 54 minutes after ordering. By that point, we had already finished the entire two-person set and another person had finished their udon and sushi combo. It's just not ideal when you're eating with a group and some people haven't even gotten the main part of their meal while everyone else is already finished. It also didn't seem like it was only our table. The table in front of us had a pasta order that seemed to have been missed. We heard the server say it was about to be ready, and then heard someone from the kitchen respond with something along the lines of, "There's another order for it?" So I do think the timing and communication between the kitchen and servers is something they need to improve on. We were served our salads first, but didn't get our miso soups until we asked for them. They were planning to serve them with the meals, but since we had already been waiting so long, we ended up just asking if we could have them first. For food, I got the two-person lunch set for $52, which came with a large veggie udon, 9 pieces of sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi, an additional 6 pieces of a classic roll, and tempura. We chose the spicy scallop maki for our roll. The sushi and sashimi were good, and the tempura was good as well. The veggie udon was a little disappointing though. It had one bok choy, a few pieces of mushroom, and then was mostly just strands of onion. The spicy scallop maki was also just okay since I couldn't really taste much scallop. Price-wise, I do think it's a little on the higher side for what you get. The quality was good overall, but for the price I would've liked a little more, especially considering the wait. Between how difficult parking is and how long and unevenly the food came out, I'm not really in any hurry to return. I think the wait bothered me more because we were eating as a group, and by the time two people finally got their food, the rest of us were completely finished. If they can improve the timing of getting everyone's meals out somewhat together, it would make the experience a lot better. 5% off with cash.
