My boyfriend surprised me with dinner at this hidden gem for Valentine's Day, which also doubled as our anniversary. It was a really nice spot for a special night... cozy, welcoming, and not overly loud. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the saganaki was definitely the standout. The wait staff brought it out and poured a shot of liquor over the cheese before lighting it on fire at the table, which added a fun touch without feeling gimmicky. Beyond the presentation, the cheese itself was excellent... crisp on the outside, warm and soft inside, and really well seasoned. Easily something I'd come back for. The mango ginger spritz was light and refreshing, not too sweet, the Australian lamb chops were cooked nicely, tender, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. We ended the perfect night with baklava and vanilla ice cream. It was flaky, just sweet enough to be shared between us. Portions weren't huge, but we left feeling content. We did have to make a reservation well in advance, which I'd definitely recommend. Prices feel appropriate for a special occasion rather than an everyday dinner. We found this gem one day and it's all I've been thinking about when I want Greek food! We ordered the kalamari, moussaka, and chicken souvlaki. All of the dishes were amazing but the one that stood out to me the most was the chicken souvlaki - the chicken was soooo tender and not dry at all, which is usually the concern I have when I order chicken. Everyone was really friendly and the restaurant's decor makes it feel very cozy. Next time I would reserve ahead of time so I can try sitting in the main lounge area. I am a very big fan of this fantastic restaurant in Thornhill! It is so unassuming on the outside as it looks like a house that someone lives in, but it is a beautiful establishment. There are some private rooms and even an upstairs event area when you walk in, and then there is an elaborate dining area in the back where a bright pink tree stands along with curvy pillars and greenery. I have been here for dinner twice so far, and both times we received amazing service. The staff really try to make your experience comfortable! Some of my favourite dishes I have tried so far include the Moussaka, the pastas and Seafood Kebab. However, you really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The pasta comes with a really big portion, and they load up on all the ingredients. I have also tried the Loukoumades for dessert and they are a delightful sweet bite to end the meal! The only thing that I would say is that I believe the servers prefer if you order an beverage along with your meal. I got a virgin mojito once which was very refreshing! Since my mediocre experience a few years ago, we haven't revisited this restaurant until very recently when our neighbor wanted to gather here. Everything improved a lot since my first visit! The renovation was redone and it looked really nice with the plants decorations now. The menu has changed and food was so much better than before. Everything tasted greasy and heavy during our previous visit. This time we ordered grilled calamari and beet salad to share. For mains, we tried their lamb racks, souvlaki chicken and salmon. Everything was delicious with portion on the smaller side. I especially liked the lamb and the grilled calamari. The chicken and salmon were also not bad. Disappointed Again -- Won't Be Returning I gave Santorini Greek Restaurant in Thornhill a second chance after a poor experience two years ago, hoping things had improved. Unfortunately, they haven't. The evening started off on a sour note when the waiter blew out the saganaki flame like it was a birthday candle--completely killing the presentation and the mood. I did not want his DNA in my system. When I politely raised the issue, he was dismissive and inattentive for the rest of the meal. That alone was enough to ruin my appetite, and I had to return the dish. The chicken souvlaki dinner ($35) was dry, lacking any real flavor, and the rest of the food was equally uninspired--bland, dull, and forgettable. Except the pita, that was great. For a place that charges premium prices, the quality and service were far below expectations. This visit was meant to be a redemption story. Hidden gem in Thornhill! This Greek restaurant is located inside a home within a shopping plaza. We came here for a late Valentine's dinner and were able to snag a reservation at 6pm. It was busy on a Friday night with no empty tables in sight, with the exception of two private rooms that I believe are reserved for family gatherings and such. The restaurant's interior was beautiful. We were seated near the table with a cherry blossom tree hanging over. As for the food, they bring out a fresh loaf of bread with a salmon spread that is so delicious! I think this was the highlight of the meal. We ordered the chicken souvlaki and lamb chops. The chicken souvlaki came with Greek salad which tasted pretty standard. The souvlaki came with lemon potatoes, veggies and tzatziki sauce. The chicken was on the drier side so needed to dip in the sauce. I found this dish was a bit too salty. The portions were quite generous though for the price and ended up taking leftovers. Our server was friendly and checked in on us frequently throughout our meal. Stellar service! I wouldn't coming back to try other items on the menu. We came here on Saturday around mid afternoon for a birthday party, and we were surprised at how big inside the restaurant was. While we didn't stay inside, the decor inside is meant to mimic the Santorini experience overlooking the ocean. Outside, their patio was shaded by a tent, and there was plenty of spacing and tables available under shade. While it wasn't busy when we got there, the food was excellent and the ambiance great (inside and out). We started off with the appetizers - Kalamari, octopus, mussels, and the Greek salad. Bread was provided complimentary, served with a humus. All were fantastic, but I would say the mussels were the winner for us with its white wine sauce that was soaked up by the garlic bread it came with and the complimentary bread. Definitely a redo and could act as a main. For our actual mains, we had the garlic prawns and Australian lamb chops (done medium). Both were cooked to perfection and were seasoned well. I will say that portions of their dishes were a pleasant surprised and while the cost was high, you were definitely getting your money's worth. Santorini Estiatorio is a hidden gem in Thornhill. Although it has been in the location for a long time, surprisingly it is my first time to visit this little Greek restaurant. The environment and decor is not something fancy, but very comfortable and local. We ordered mussel to start, then grilled seabass, lamb chop and seafood pasta. I should say all the entrée are very authentic. Also portion is large and price is reasonable. Lots of family gathering group at that night. I am a little disappointed on the Baklava. We stumped upon this place by pure accident. Were hungry, called the place and even though it was almost closing time, they agreed to wait for us and keep the kitchen open. Our party of 9 were pleasantly surprised from ambience to all the dishes that we tried were authentic and tasted phenomenal. This place is perfect. I have been to many Greek restaurants and this one is simply the best, hands down. Authentic food, beautiful ambiance. Every dish we tried was amazing. Fresh bread was impossible to resist - soft inside, crunchy outside. Saganaki cheese was big and fired up to perfection. Greek dips appetizer came with pita and yet again - amazing. Grilled calamari is the best I've ever had. Saganaki shrimp is finger licking good. Tomato based Sauce they use is full of flavors! You have to wrap things up with dessert and Greek coffee (which was prepared at the table). Baklava ice cream is my new all time favorite flavor. I have to add that interior is also picture perfect. Personally, I love the ribs - served smothered in barbeque sauce; or with an oregano rub, with barbeque sauce on the side for dipping. I prefer the latter, but that's just me. Other great bets are the saganaki (fried cheese that's flambeed tableside - opa!) and the grilled fish. Also, the lemon chicken soup appetizer is always delicious. Only 6 km away from North York, this beautiful Greek mansion opens into a spectacular internal terrace adorned with cherry blossom trees and classical Greek jars and vases. We had a family dinner there on a Sat afternoon, I ordered the classical Musaka dish which is a must to try if you're there. The oysters and the Italian wine were also the highlight of my experience. I needed to find a place that my friend and I could go to chat, nibble and have a glass of wine. We had a lot of catching up to do after all this Covid lockdown. We made reservations and upon arrival we were greeted and seated very quickly. We sat on the outdoor patio. Menus, cold water and bread with a hummus spread were placed on the table. We tried this restaurant which I've never been to before but it's been around for 20+ years. When I first walked in I was like "Wow this place is so pretty"! Very clean. Tables spaced out very nicely. Staff was excellent. They start you off with some delicious bread with a scoop of garlicky hummus which was delicious. We ordered fried zucchini with tzatiki as an appetizer and it was very good. Unfortunately we ate half if it before I realized I had forgotten to take a picture. Our meals were absolutely delicious but I do have one very small negative comment and that is that there was quite a bit of oil on the bottom of my plate. Unfortunately I don't like my food drenched in oil and there was quite a bit of it. Still it was delicious. We also got fried honey balls with chocolate and caramel sauce and ice cream and it was the perfect ending to our meal. Got quite a bit, enough for 4 to share. Santorini Grill is now my to go to Greek restaurant for uptown... This restaurant is huge... It is a Summer House that is built 1858 over 150 years ago..and Santorini Grill has done a marvellous job to converted that into a nice charming restaurant. The inside is modern and cozy... and there are a lot of separate section of private ares that you can host a private party.. or in the Summer the huge patio..or in the main dining area with skylight and big windows... Santorini Grill maybe the place that converted me to become a lamb lover... Lamb Souvlaki on Pita Bread ($14) - Cooked Medium is nice and tender.. and well seasoned.... - Pita Bread Soft and Fluffy - Mixed Salad has the perfect dressing and oh so good Feta cheese I will be back again.... Surprisingly, one of the best Greek restaurants in the GTA is not in the Danforth but all the way in Markham. You enter Santorini and are immediately hooked with it's whites and blues and curved lines and sunken seating areas - all of which transport you to Greece. Service was a bit slow and curt, but then you get to the food and you forget your impatience. Because the food was really good - Santorini reminds you what Greek food is supposed to taste like when done properly. We had: - (Free) bread came with a really yummy salmon dip. We were going to order the dips they had on the menu but this was good enough. - Halloumi cheese with fig spread and diced tomatoes: The halloumi was nice and firm, though some people may find it a bit rubbery. The fig paired perfectly with it - I ended up just rolling the cheese over and over again into the spread. - Octopus appetizer: The octopus had just the right level of saltiness and was chopped into small pieces which made it good for sharing. The surprising star of the dish though was the bed of mushed eggplant that the octopus was on. - Grilled calamari: We got this for our main and it was a big enough serving for 2. I know many people here have reviewed the calamari though I think most have got it deep fried. Definitely try it grilled - done so well it melts in your mouth. And the red cabbage they pair it with has a sweetness that contrasts the 'milkiness' of the calamari and perks up the dish. - Truffle chocolate with devil's cake: Standard tasting, which was a bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the meal. We asked if they offered homemade Greek yogurt and sadly they have discontinued it. I know you may find it a bit weird to head to Markham for a good Greek meal (vs downtown Toronto or to the Danforth). Put the biases aside and head over to Santorini - it's definitely worth the trip. read more

We were craving Greek food, and so I yelped for one, and Santorini Grill popped up and off we went. First off: looks are deceiving -- the outside does not even begin to tell you how elegant it is inside the restaurant! We got the chance to walk through before heading out to the patio. The outdoor seating is very nice (and I am assuming even more so when the sun sets). A waiter greeted us immediately, and provided us with menus. We ordered soon afterwards and then were given bread, hummus and other snacks (complimentary). So our food arrived and while it tasted good, I honestly could not process how it could be priced so high (especially when I compare it to the establishments on the Danforth). I don't mind paying more, but when I do, I would expect it to show through the quality of the food, but I was disappointed. The grilled calamari tasted bitter (because of the grilling -- but not sure why it would taste bitter), the pork souvlaki was nothing spectacular, but my husband did like their Chicken Supreme -- but again, not for its price.
