Oh my, this place is awesome. I saw the reviews and it was a must try. We ordered the saganaki, the avgolemono soup, chicken souvlaki dinner, and a pork gyros dinner. The soup was amazing, you could tell it was homemade as the chicken had bones. It was beyond fresh. The saganaki came next, it was disappointing that the server couldn't get the flame going but all is good anyways. Then came the Greek salad that come with both dinners, as you can see the dressing was abundant and it was flavourful. Onto the Chicken souvlaki dinner and pork gyros dinner. You could tell this was made authentically Greek as they were delectable. The quality and taste was through the roof. This is a must try for any Greek food lovers and I HIGHLY recommend. First visit to Main St Greek did not disappoint :) The moment we entered the restaurant, we could smell the amazing meats cooking and feel the heat of the grill going. This spot gave us a real family feel with generous portion sizes, kitschy blue plates, & fast-paced and courteous service. There were also plenty of folks ordering takeout. The chicken gyros on a pita was stuffed with meat, fries, tomato, sliced onions, & creamy tzatziki. I only wish there was tzatziki on the side to dip the wrap into because it was so tasty. Also tried their pan fried cod - maybe not something you'd think of trying at a Greek restaurant, but it was delicious as well. I've been dining with family a lot lately - cousins, uncle, and aunt. Our latest outing took us to Main St Greek in Markham, first time for my cousins. We started with an order of Calamari, and Hummus with Pita. Both were thoroughly enjoyed, along with the complimentary fresh bread. Our meals also included a salad. My gf and I came for first time dine-in on a thursday night. We parked a bit north of the resto down the street (it was about a 10 min walk). We sat down and a server came over right away with water and some menus. We ordered the pikilia (which is basically a giant meat platter). The platter came with lamb chops, chicken and pork souvlaki, chicken and pork gyro and a sausage. It also included a large greek salad, tzatziki sauce and bread but we asked the server if we could sub the salad out for some carbs like rice or potatoes and she said sure (we subbed the salad for roasted potatoes). The meat was delicious! Juicy, flavourful and nice hefty portion size. Before sending our order through I double checked w/ the server to ask if it would be enough food and she assured me it would be. Good call! The roasted potatoes were fantastic too! Very lemony flavour profile and sooo tender. I do think if we ordered the pikilia again in the future we'd ask for rice though because the meat was very rich and I think the rice would've balanced out the flavours more. I've gotten take out here before but this is my first time dining in and what a huge difference it is! Come early as they close early and sell out of a lot of things later in the night during their dinner rush. I arrived with my partner on a weekend during prime dinner rush, and waited about 20-25 minutes for a table, and they were a full house! I skimmed through the menu that was on the wall and already knew exactly what I wanted to get. It's a super casual Greek restaurant so don't feel like you need to dress up here. After getting seated and we were ready to order, our server informed us that they were sold out of the fried calamari and all gyros - bummer because those were items I wanted to order! Just means I have to return to this restaurant to try to catch those item when they're available. However, everything else we got was so delicious: Hummus trio dip 5/5 I love dips, so when I saw that this came with three different ones to pick I knew I had to get it. Got a regular hummus, the one with eggplant (melitzanasalata) and the one with fish roe (Taramosalata). All three were so delicious and creamy that I couldn't stop eating it. My favorite one was definitely the pink one which was fish roe. It comes with pita and bread on the side. Greek fries 4/5 Delicious but something I think I could skip for next time. Only because there were a lot of other carbs on the table like potatoes, rice and the huge basket of bread and pita that came with the rest of our mains and dishes. Soutzoukakia - Meatballs with rice 2/5 I would say, don't get this item. It wasn't something I particularly liked and we only got this because gyro was sold out. It's just big pieces of meatballs in a tomato sauce served over rice. Comes with a greek salad on the side. No special flavor profile in my opinion. Skip. We got the following: - Saganaki - Chicken Souvlaki Dinner - Pork Gyros Dinner First of all, the portions here are pretty massive. We were given a boatload of bread (which went perfectly with the saganaki), and the salad that came with each of the dinners could have been small meals themselves. The saganaki was hot, rich, and sharp, with the signature flambe and "Opa!" as with all other times I have gotten this dish at other spots. The chicken souvlaki was juicy and tender, compared to the pork which was a bit lacking on that front. It was also unfortunate that some of the items were sold out such as the spanakopita and chicken gyros, despite it being early dinner time. There are a bunch of other spots in the area (as I'm not around often) which I will explore prior to coming back, but this spot is definitely solid for a Greek food craving. Yes, the decor is akin to generic restaurant and lacking in the trappings common for "Greek" restaurants. Do not be fooled, the quality of the food speaks volumes all on its own. We were in the neighbourhood and in need of a mid-week lunch. There's plenty of free off street parking nearby and we sought something other than a burger for lunch. The answer, Chicken Souvlaki on a Pita. Both Chicken and Pork souvlaki are available and both are served in fresh soft pitas with the souvlaki grilled to order. That is, not half cooked already and then rewarmed on the grill. The result is hot, juicy, and flavourful. Contained in the pita and addition to your chosen protein are onions, tomatoes, a good tzatziki, and - surprisingly yet surprisingly good - a handful of french fries. The souvlaki on it's own makes a good light meal but feel free to pair it with an order of french fries or a salad if something more substantial is desired. Our favourite was the chicken souvlaki as the chicken was very juicy and tender. It was my first time trying pastitsio, which is similar to a pie/lasagna with potato and beef on top and ziti noodles at the bottom. It was flavourful and very good! The grilled octopus was not rubbery at all but could be a little more tender (however we did order delivery so that probably cooked it a little more). The pork gyros was interesting - different than other gyros I have had, where it is made of mixed ground meat and seasoning. This one they used actual cuts of meat with fat trimmings! Very delicious greek spot in Markham with quite a selection from wraps, sandwiches, salads, and other main dishes. I went with the gyros wrap (only $8.5) which I enjoyed and found very tasty. You could also add an order of fries for $4. The fries were okay. They also had their Pikilia where you could try a variety of their meats for $51. Decided to try this spot for takeout the other week, and I thought this was a pretty solid place for Greek food! My boyfriend and I both ordered the chicken souvlaki plate with rice, potatoes and the Greek salad. The souvlaki was delicious and juicy, cooked perfectly! Their tzatziki was also delicious as well! I tried this place for the first time last week on Saturday for dinner! I had passed by many times and finally had the chance to go. Upon stepping in, we were greeted by a friendly waitress and seated quite quickly, even though it was pretty busy that night. We ordered the Pastitio and the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner and both came with a hearty plate of salad and warm garlic bread. So much food! I really enjoyed all the food, and the poritons were very large, so I took home a good amount of the Pastitio as well. The roast vegetables were amazing! It was definitely a heavy dinner though, so if you don't eat that much you can share dishes. Amazing Greek restaurant at Main St Unionville. They are so welcoming. I feel like I'm being treated like family. We usually order the same items to share between 4 people when we come for dinner. Saganaki, flambé cheese, is a must order. Piping hot ooey gooey cheese.. what's not to love?? Fried calamari is a staple. I like that the batter is not too heavy. Trio of dips rounds out the appetizers. There are 5 to choose from. I forget the names of the ones we order, but it's the not tzaziki and hummus. For the main, we get the pikilia, which is a meat platter! It comes with 2 chicken sticks, 2 pork sticks, 2 lamb chops, 2 ground beef patty things that are delicious, and a sausage. The meat is wonderfully roasted and stays juicy with a good charred taste. You can usually get away with not making a reservation, but some nights it does get busy. It's more creamy than I usually like. Some pieces of the lettuce were wilted and brown, and some of the tomatoes were blemished. (It's okay, they redeem themselves on their other foods!!) Dip Trio (Taramosalata + Melitzanosalata + Tirokafteri) - YASSSS. These dips were so good! Taramosalata is a fish roe dip... easily the best one out of all the yummy dips. It's not super fishy tasting - the fish taste is balanced well with the saltiness. Melitzanosalata is an eggplant dip like baba ganoush. Also very good! Good garlic, lemon, eggplant flavour. Tirokafteri is a feta cheese and pepper dip. This one is also good, but a little bit too salty from all dat feta. These dips are also served with hot pita bread! Gyro Pita - it's STUFFED with meat chunks, fries, tomatoes, and tzatziki. Very yummy too! It's huge, cheap, and super filling! Pork Souvlaki Dinner - Fresh grilled pork souvlaki + rice + potatoes + salad + tzatziki. HUGE friggin portion, so worth it. I would highly recommend Main St Greek if you're craving for some authentic Greek cuisine. I've only been here three or four times from 2017 until now but I've had (almost) perfect experiences each time. I've ordered the Chicken Gyros Pita, Chicken Souvlaki Dinner, Mousaka, Calimari, the Greek Salad and the Village Salad. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. I always need my boyfriend to help me finish my meal. If you're only ordering one main, it comes to about $20 after tax and tip. The meat is so soft and juicy. The potatoes are made to perfection - extremely soft but not falling apart and so full of flavour. I love the rice because, again, it's so soft (I'm sensing a theme here!) I've tried many places (not just Greek restaurants) where the texture of the rice is so hard that it makes me wonder if it's even been cooked properly. The salad is delicious though I wish they would add more tomatoes! The Mousaka is the best I've tried (so far) in the GTA but still doesn't compare to what I had in Greece :( One thing I didn't like is that during my most recent visit for dinner, my friend and I had stopped eating because we were chatting. The server came over with a take out box and asked if we needed one. Shortly after, she came over with the bill. It felt like we were being rushed out of the place. As we waited for food at Main St Greek, I was trying my best to impart commonly known tidbits about the Greek culture to my little one. He marveled at the fact that Greek people would celebrate by smashing plates and the fact that they have an appetizer where they light cheese on fire. While Main St Greek doesn't offer flaming cheese, it does offer pretty good Greek food on the north east side of town. The two food items that I can comment on are the chicken souvlaki dinner and the fried calamari. The calamari was a pleasant surprise. I mean you can't go wrong with a deep fried dish at most places but they do it better than the next guy by having a very light and non-greasy batter. The squid was also not super rubbery like a lot of places. The Chicken souvlaki is also better than most places around the area. The skewer of chicken was succulent and the concoction of spice was marinated from the surface to the core of the chicken chunks. The potatoes were made with the regular varieties chopped up. The potatoes had a sauce with it and not of the grilled dry style. With the sauce I just found it a bit over spiced. Sometimes it's good to let the natural taste of the potato do the talking. Parking is slightly a pain in this area. But still way better than downtown Toronto since the parking is free at least. It is children friendly with highchairs of sight. Atmosphere 3/5 Clean and country style like setup. Bright and sunny due to the windows. But it didn't look like a Greek restaurant. Service 3.5/5 Nice and friendly with average service. Food 3.5/5 It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. It was decent but nothing really popped. To be honest, I am not the biggest fan in Greek food. So slightly bias here. But it is still better than some other Greek place that I have tried. Overall it is pretty decent, especially with the options available in the area. Walking up and down Main Street Markham we were starting to get hungry; Yelp comes to the rescue again! In this little strip comprised of three short blocks there are a number of quaint restaurants BUT what draws people to Main Street Greek is comfort food at reasonable prices. I had the Spanokopita for $4.75 (Spinach, feta and phyllo pastry) and my friend had the Chicken Gyro ($7) with a side of fries ($3). The Spanokopita tasted good but I think it would have been better if it was warmed up. The Gyro was tasty (had fries inside) but the pita was a little harder than I'm used to. Now the fries were sooooo delicious - crisp and hot right out of the fryer. Main Street Greek is comfortable, homey and clean, with friendly wait staff, serving up good food at a good price. This nice Greek restaurant in downtown Markham has good food and a laidback vibe. The restaurant is located in the heart of Markham, next to many other shops and eateries. The interior is nicely decorated and feels very open. The staff was a bit curt, but that didn't detract much from the overall experience. You can get your food for takeaway or for dine-in - I chose the latter. They have a nice variety of Greek dishes, including gyro sandwiches, souvlaki, lamb, moussaka, and more. I ended up getting the roast lamb, which was tender, delicious, and a large portion size. Most dinner meals come with potatoes, rice, and salad - but in my opinion potatoes AND rice is just too much carbs, so you can substitute out one of them for roasted vegetables, which is what I did. The roasted vegetables were quite good, though the potatoes were pretty bland - they could've used more seasoning. The salad was very nice - I got the horiatiki salad instead of the traditional Greek salad. Overall it was tasty food and a relaxing meal. I finally had a chance to go back to Main St Greek. This time we didn't get take out and actually ate in. I decided to try the pork souvlaki dinner this time and my hubby had the gyros dinner because he really liked the quality of the meat the first time we were there. Pork souvlaki dinner - quality of meat is really good. My rice was overcooked and very oily. I still don't care much for the potatoes as they are over seasoned and too mushy. Gyros dinner - same great quality of pork as the souvlaki dinner. My hubby also felt that the rice was mushy and oily. As if they did something to revive it, but it was a major fail because it didn't work. He ordered fries instead of potatoes. Both dinners came with "Greek" salad. It was smothered in dressing which is still too bland. Maybe a hint of lemon can freshen it up? I took a couple of pictures of the meals - i'll post them shortly. Food came fairly quickly, service was good. BUT we were never asked if we enjoyed the food or if we would like another soft drink or more water. It wasn't busy, only 2 other tables with 4 or more people that were waited on and looked after more frequently than our server came to our table. Came here for lunch with a group of 6 but only 4 order because we just ran out of time. Had their veggie wrap with no feta and a side of fries. The food was pretty good but the server here was miserable. She literally talks over you while you are talking. Since the food was taking long to order and then to make we asked for our meals in "to go" containers. Maybe that's what threw her off? No idea. I would come back but only if this was my only option for Greek (there's always Markville) Parking can be a hassle as there is only street parking. read more

I heard this place was good so I decided to try it ordered through phone good customer service I ordered the chicken souvlaki since I don't eat rice they gave more potatoes I wish they made their own hot sauce like jimmy the Greek oh well you can't get everything it's pretty good this place is doing well especially during Covid the chicken soy alike was very tender juicy and really good seasoning and they give a lot of food which I like, the potatoes I prefer crispy but I think it's supposed to be soft the meat is actually pretty good not as good as Kandahar but pretty decent good job main st Greek hope you stay around for a long time read more
