I think I left a review before but It asked me to leave one again so I will. This is absolutely one of the best places for Mexican food in Carson City if you're looking for a typical, yet modern Mexican menu. Tonight I ordered the chorizo and potato flautas. Oh wow that's all I can say. The customer service is always awesome and you'll always see Juan is walking around making sure everything is ok as well as his amazing wife. The waitresses are so sweet. The decorations alone are enough to go in. It's super awesome inside.

Taco Tuesday & Thursday plus a full menu that has a plethora of amazing homemade family dishes - YEP that is what you will find if you come to Juan's Mexican Grill. They even serve breakfast - OMGoodness how can it get any better than that!! How about homemade complimentary pico salsa and chips and let me share an inside secret with you - if they aren't to busy ask for the special hot sauces from the back, but be warned they are not for the faint of heart, these are flavorful, tasty and HOT!! Taco Tuesday & Thursday all the locals know that these are by far 'THE BEST' tacos ever!! Stuffed with seasoned ground beef and shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato and fresh grated cheese - OMTASTY!! Please don't forget to ask for the Special, '2 Tacos & a draft beer for $5.99' w/complimentary chips and homemade pico salsa - yummmmmy!! Prepare for it to be a bit hectic but it's well worth it and as you will read in my review below again the staff will always greet you with a smile and go out of their way to make your experience GREAT! Now for me, my other go to meals are their two enchilada plate or Governor Guinn Special enchiladas that come with homemade beans and rice plus those tasty complimentary chips and pico salsa. Recently, we popped in for breakfast and once again it was delicious - I opted for the Simple Breakfast which came with eggs, potatoes and toast - I chose over medium eggs (cooked perfectly), home potatoes (these were lightly crisp and also cooked perfectly - loved the touch of bell pepper) and sourdough toast and the coffee was delish! Service is ALWAYS with a smile, no matter how busy it is, and each staff member goes out of their way to make sure that your experience is GREAT (like I said above). My husband and I literally said today, we have never noticed in all the years of coming here that everyone working here is smiling and trying to the best of their ability to make sure you have what you need and happy - WAY TO GO Juan's that speaks volumes! The restaurant and tables are always clean and ready to go for the next guests arrival and even though they are in a casino (why 1 star less - I can't stand the smoke) Juan and his staff make you feel comfortable and welcome. GREAT food and GREAT service - we LOVE Juan's Mexican Grill and the staff!

I…read moreordered the Wild West Tater and honestly was expecting a fairly satisfying, but ordinary, baked potato with toppings. What I received was an amazing blend of super tender pork in a slightly sweet but tangy BBQ sauce, mac n' cheese, and a perfectly cooked (not hard or dry), very generously sized potato (big enough for two). On a chilly day, when you're hungry, this absolutely fits the bill. Warming and savory, but well balanced, and not greasy. After some bowling or billiards? Perfect. I was thinking this was probably the best flavor, when I saw the rotating ad for....a spaghetti potato pie. Will have to come back and try other varieties. The cashier was very helpful and patient explaining the menu. Checked the website and looks like they update the menu with new options too. They say they're "dedicated to perfecting the art of the baked potato," and they're doing exactly that. Along with it, they're also serving up one of the best craft-style fountain sodas, Stubborn Soda. Don't hesitate to make a little detour (or order delivery) to try this place. TIP: Located inside the HomeGrown Bowl center: from the main entrance, head down the hall to the right past the arcade; also near a side entrance.

They told us not to order over the phone, only online. OK, fine, but it seems like you shouldn't turn away business just because we used a phone. We got our order placed online instead. My wife received a confirmation email and then an email saying our order was ready for pickup. She arrived at the restaurant, and the lady working said she had never gotten an order and hadn't started on it. So my wife waited for the food to be prepared and finally got it home. The food was good. The mac and cheese potato is really good. The mac and cheese was a star. The shepherd's pie was ok, but a little shy on the meat and needed some more seasoning. At least the portions are large, and you'll likely be able to split an order into two meals unless you're super hungry. The inside of this place is small and located inside the bowling alley building. Nothing special about the ambiance. Takeout is probably the way to go. This place should be 3 stars. However, I am going to cut a little slack and assume it was a one-off experience. So for this review, I am sticking with 4 stars. When I return, I hope the food is up to par, and the service improves. I would love to write a 5-star review for this small local business.

I can't believe I'm actually going to give this review a one star review…read more Great Basin Brewing has been a favorite of ours for well over a year almost 2 years now. It's been our go to place. Today being Father's Day, we were out and about in town and decided we would eat there. All the way there I kept bragging to my grandson how great this place is and it's our go to spot. yada yada yada. It wasn't very busy and we were seated very quickly. The service has always been pretty friendly. The service today was adequate and I'll get to that in a second. My grandson ordered the pork belly, Mac and cheese. I kept saying how that is a really good choice and he's really going to like it. My wife ordered the half rack ribs with fries and coleslaw. I had what I think is called the butchers platter with ribs, chicken wings, and pork belly. The food arrived and looked pretty darn good. But that's where it ends. My wife kept saying how salty the food was. And I got to thinking about that as I was eating my wings with the so-called Memphis dust flavoring on them. Those were equally salty so I thought wow OK maybe it's just our taste buds. Then I tried my ribs and they were also salty. I tried my wife's ribs just to see if they were that salty and come to find out they really were and dry. The fries that came with my wife's food tasted like they were old like they've been sitting out for a while. The coleslaw was also bland. After bragging about the pork belly and cheese, my grandson stated that it was pretty bland with very little flavor. So I tried it just to see what was going on and sure enough it was really lacking something what I don't know. I'm thinking garlic because it was pretty darn bland. I honestly hate to give a review like this because I really like this place as I said before it's been our go to spot. Now, as far as the service the server, she was very friendly, but that was pretty much it, after getting our food she didn't even check on us until it was about time for us to leave and she brought us our check. It's just kind of weird because there's a couple of servers here that are exceptional. So I don't know what's going on, but this was a very big letdown for a couple of regular customers. As usual, the place is clean and spacious with plenty of TVs to enjoy sports. In the end, the beverages were about the best part of the meal. It was Father's Day, so my beer was free so thank you for that maybe this was just a rough day. I don't know. I don't know if you have new cooks or what but this was pretty bad considering how much we like this place and how good it has always been.

I was heartbroken when "the little nugget" in Reno closed because of the pandemic. When I heard…read morethat the awful awful burger, (awful, big, and awful good! ) is at the Carson City nugget, I wanted to get here for sometime, but I haven't. The casino itself is a simple casino that caters more toward the locals. Old, but comfortable. I can't speak for the games, because I didn't play. But it just reminded me of an old-fashioned casino that goes way back when. They changed the name of the coffee shop to the capital city Grille. They did a good job with the remodel, it's bright and fresh, and it still has that old-fashioned coffee shop vibe, Unlike the crowded space with just a few tables that was in back of the Reno casino. Also, this place is not open 24 hours, like the one in Reno was. I retired from drinking a long time ago, but I still kind of remember that 3 AM stumble into the Reno nugget diner for an awful awful. Ah, the memories... The service was good. Right off the bat, my waitress advised me that she was the only person working, yet she still got to me pretty quick. There was nothing like the original awful awful at the Reno nugget, but I would say that this burger is a worthy heir to the throne. It's more of an "upscale awful awful", but it still holds the mantle of awful big, and awful good. When you order, they ask how you want your burger cooked. I asked for medium, and that's how it came. She also offered me several different options beside the fries. For me, fries, no question. I wanted the entire experience. At the old nugget, you'd get a giant basket of fries, which I could never finish. The burger reminded me so much of the original awful awful. It was immense! With my first bite, the memories just came flooding back. Instead of an onion bun, it now comes on a brioche bun, and as I ate the burger, the bun started to disintegrate a little bit, just like it used to do in Reno. It's hard for a bun to hold up to that much burger. All of the fixings were fresh, and my "awful awful sauce", just as good as always, came on the side. That was no problem, I used part of it on the burger, and the rest of it I used as a "fry sauce" which I love. , the fries were skin on steak fries, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and absolutely delicious. I'm not sure what they seasoned them with. Somehow, I managed to finish the whole meal. It's more expensive than the original, but hey, prices for everything have gone up. The price was still very reasonable. No, this isn't the Reno awful awful, but this place has done an awful awful good job of keeping the tradition going. (See what I did there? :) I will be back. Thanks.
