Tried out Juans inside of the Comstock Casino in Carson for lunch. After living in Texas all my life, we moved to Carson NV. I have had chili rellenos everywhere in TX. But I tell you what, the quality of this one is by far my favorite to date. My friend and myself both opted for the relleno side which was without rice and beans. Who cares OMG this relleno was the best. Ask for a lil extra of the homemade ranchero sauce that comes on it. It was to die for. To the point that we were both scraping what was left of the sauce up with a spoon lol. Now the cheese, I am used to white cheese, like the Oaxaca cheese etc. This was a more yellow and different consistency of most rellenos. This was not a problem at all. It was the most delicious ever!!! Now their salsa is homemade and spicy!! It was so addictive you could not quit eating it. Large chunks of veggies, not all pureed into an unidentifiable liquid. I will be taking my Husband here soon as he want's to try it now. Go give Juan Sr a lil company as he is back in the kitchen making it all fresh to order. Wish I woulda taken a pic of the salsa!! We saw this cute restaurant from across the street and wanted to give it a try. We're glad we did, the Mexican decor inside is even better. The margarita, although small, went down quickly because it tasted so good! The chicken fajitas came out sizzling and juicy, but the guacamole was a little thin and not very flavorful. This is absolutely one of the best places for Mexican food in Carson City if you're looking for a typical, yet modern Mexican menu. Tonight I ordered the chorizo and potato flautas. This place is laid back. You seat yourself. Not a very large seating area but decent enough. If you're on a budget then this is not the place to go! The only lunch special they had was a ground beef taco with a cheese enchilada and rice and beans. That was 12.99. Not much of a special for what you get! Most places have a few options for lunch specials and they don't usually cost as much. It was 9.49 for a Chile rellano ala carte. They had 2 and 3 item combos that were 16.99 and 19.99. All I'm saying is it's pretty spendy for a casino Mexican restaurant . I don't think the vibe is very good for the price. The food was not bad but I have had better. read more

Recently, we popped in for breakfast and once again it was delicious - I opted for the Simple Breakfast which came with eggs, potatoes and toast - I chose over medium eggs (cooked perfectly), home potatoes (these were lightly crisp and also cooked perfectly - loved the touch of bell pepper) and sourdough toast and the coffee was delish! Service is ALWAYS with a smile, no matter how busy it is, and each staff member goes out of their way to make sure that your experience is GREAT (like I said above). My husband and I literally said today, we have never noticed in all the years of coming here that everyone working here is smiling and trying to the best of their ability to make sure you have what you need and happy - WAY TO GO Juan's that speaks volumes! The restaurant and tables are always clean and ready to go for the next guests arrival and even though they are in a casino (why 1 star less - I can't stand the smoke) Juan and his staff make you feel comfortable and welcome. I'm always searching for that perfect tostada with a flat corn tortilla, but sometimes I have to settle for the flour bowl one. Well, this flour bowl tostada was the best one I've had in a long time. I live in Carson City and have been here twice now. Both times, the food was average at best. The staff/service was fine. All the reviews here that say this is the best place, must be friends of the family or work there. There are quite a few places in Carson City for mexican food that blow this place out of the water. I'm originally a So. Cal native and this place wouldn't even come close to the top 100 Mexican eateries in So. Cal! I hate to give negative feedback to a place run by nice people but I'm about the people that are going to pay the money to eat good food. Also... I'll start with the good, the staff was very nice and attentive. Other than that, this is by far the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Everything was bland and tasteless. We ordered the bean and chorizo dip, it was ok at best. My wife got shrimp tacos, and the shrimp wasn't bad but it tasted more like scampi than shrimp tacos. I got the salmon tacos, and it was so overcooked that it was almost salmon jerky. The tortillas on both were chewy, like they were microwaved. The beans were completely flavorless, and a little gritty. Canned beans have more taste. The rice was also flavorless and a little undercooked. We heard about their taco Tuesdays and Thursdays. These are real crispy tacos and not street tacos. $2 a taco or 2 tacos and a draft beer for $5.99. Great deal. We have not tried anything else in the menu. Plenty of chips and salsa. We have gotten Juan Jr as our server and he is friendly and attentive. Last 2 times we have come in he greets us and ask where have we been (we actually live over 20 miles away in a different city). However, the other waitress we have had twice sometimes doesn't come around for a while but stands in the corner talking to other staff. Still friendly but could be a bit more attentive to the customers. We still love this place and will come back next time we are close by. read more

I love Juan's tacos! They are so good and filling! The service is always friendly and quick! It is inside the Comstock casino and you seat yourself. They have a great deal on Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 tacos and a beer for $5.99 ! The tacos are wonderfully seasoned and stuffed in a crunchy shell filled with lettuce cheese and tomato. You have the choice of beef or chicken. I always get the beef! Their soup called fideo ( not sure I spelled that right) but it is sooo good! Chips and salsa are great! The salsa is so good, they make it fresh and some times it is sooo spicy, but it is sooo good too! They also have a good chili relleno and Chili Colorado dish. I sure wish there were more stars than five to give this place. My sister and I have lived in the area for over 14 years and visited for the first time. Don't know why we didn't discover it sooner. It was a wonderful family atmosphere, great service and food, and gigantic portions for decent prices, and ended up eating the leftovers for breakfast the next morning. We ate dinner there at a later time than usual, in fact, close to closing, and were were still made to feel at home and take our time. This place is highly recommended. The food is good, but what makes this place better is how kind the family is. Not only have they shown our family so much kindness in the last few months but today when we ordered through doordash they delivered our order to us after the dasher told me the restaurant was closed. My family has been going to Juan's for many years and have followed them to each of their new locations. The friendly and efficient staff always make our experience extra special. We love ordering their specials of the day and participating in the coupon offers we frequently receive from the restaurant and casino. Their Spanish sauce is one of the best enchilada sauces I've ever had, and if you ask they're happy to substitute it on many dishes in place of their red and green sauces. My favorite dish is their spin of a cheese enchilada "The Governor's Special", which is named after Governor Guinn. It is stuffed with shredded lettuce and smothered with cheese and Spanish sauce. If you're in the area on a Thursday I highly recommend stopping in for their Taco Thursday specials! They dish up $2 tacos loaded with tasty seasoned meat wth a multi cheese blend. I also must mention that they have one of my most favorite pico salsas! The table always devours it! Tip- If business is slow sometimes they will close early. I would suggest calling to make sure they're open, because in the past I have arrived and been very sad to find them closed.
