Very disappointed as they used to be so good. Ordered Super Nachos with chicken and a quart of red salsa to go and they charged me $29.94 with an added "adjustment" of $1.15. Per the menu the super nachos with choice of meat (I chose chicken) was $14 for the dinner size portion. No mention of an extra charge for meat. The chicken was so dried out I couldn't even re-heat it when I got home. So disgusted and won't be back. Such a shame - hopefully the original location in Red Bank hasn't gone down hill to. read more

The food is ok, nothing to write home about. The quality had gone down recently. I have going here for years as a central location for friends to meet. However, we went there recently and it was awful. The manager was rude and nasty. He demanded we order right away. It was Saturday night and the restaurant was only 35% full. Lots of empty tables. He says they are very busy and he demanded we order our dinner right away. We didn't have a chance to have our appetizers. We thought he was behaving like that only with us, but he clearly was behaving that way with the table next to us. We overheard him in the same demanding tone. Needless to say, none of us want to go there again. I can understand people having a bad day. I always tip well. Keep in mind we all work hard and we want to relax and enjoy our meal and de-stress on a Saturday night. Not a good experience. read more

What happened to this place? I was here with my family about two years ago and had the best Mexican food we'd ever had. The guacamole is table made and was fantastic. Fresh and very tasty. Perfect. We returned again on 8/3. The guacamole was tasteless. We had to add salt. The entrees were uniformly awful. I had a seafood burrito that was cold in places. It was obviously pre-made, frozen and reheated. Worse, it had no taste. Others at the table had steak based items. The steak was anything but fresh. It was tough and had no taste. The service was ok. I really enjoyed the food here. I ordered the tacos with chicken. It comes with a side of rice, beans, and sour cream. You also get a choice of mild, medium, or hot sauce for you food to be cooked in. There were three tacos and the price was around $15. There was so much food I couldn't even finish it, so it was worth the price. Overall the workers were friendly and all professional looking. My waiter was very responsive and refilled our water and asked if we needed anything multiple times. The decor is nice with family photos and some paintings on the walls and art on the back of the chairs. You have an option to bring your own wine/beer if you want. This may be my favorite Mexican joint that I have found in the area thus far. Close to work my girlfriends and I tend to hit this place up now and again and my mouth waters every time that day comes. The restaurant although located right on Rt. 9 is a super cute little spot, and inside the decor is fun and festive. The wait staff is attentive and is constantly bring more chips and salsa as needed. My first experience there landed me with the largest vegetarian burrito I have ever seen in my life. Packed with veggies, beans and cheese and then topped with an avocado sauce, the dish was to die for. Trying for a healthier option the second go I ordered up the ceviche which was so fabulous. Absolutely Delish... From the Guacamole made at the table to the entrees, everything was spectacular. I have been to the other Juanitos in Red Bank and expected nothing less than very good, but I enjoyed this location even more than the Red Bank one. The Burritos had an excellent filling (not just overstuffed with rice). The combination entrees were done just as well as anything else we had ordered not to mention its a good way to sample a few different things. The rice and beans were well flavored. The highlight on the table was the duck special. Im not sure what sauce is on the duck, but it was incredible. We asked for some sauces on the side, and each one had its own great qualities. This place is incredible! My favorite cuisine is Mexican and when I came to this place it did not disappoint! They make the guacamole right in front of you at your table so you know that it's fresh! We went to Juanitos on a Saturday evening and were pleasantly surprised to get a table quickly. There was a bit of a wait for our food but it was busy. When our plates arrived they were barely warm so we sent them back. I don't know what they do to reheat but mine returned with melted sour cream, warm avocado and mushy lettuce. In a word, disgusting. When the manager finally showed up he sait our food was cold because mine had sour cream. My daughter didn't have sour cream and the manager said that hers wasn't cold. Definitely a solid four stars in my book. I drive past Juanito's frequently since it sits at the corner of Aldrich Road and the dreaded Route 9, but have never stopped in. I was craving Mexican food the other night and decided to finally check it out for an early dinner. While munching on my complimentary chips and salsa, I looked over the menu, noticing the typical arrangement of entrees. The three enchiladas sounded appetizing, so I ordered two chicken and one steak with side of beans and rice. It didn't take long for my plate to arrive and I dove right in. Both the shredded chicken and tender steak were excellent and the small sides complimented everything very nicely. The only thing stopping me from giving Juanito's five stars was the cost. Maybe I'm just used to other inexpensive places, but $14 for my combination plate, as well as $2 for a glass bottle of 8 oz. Coke, seemed a little on the high end for around here. Regardless, everything was so good, I will probably come back here, just not as often. read more

Incredible Mexican food - almost all of it VERY authentic. We go to Juanitos when we can afford to eat out. Start with their Guacamole - it is fantastic and they make it in front of you with fresh avocados - it is the best guac I've had outside of Mexico. Their pico de gallo is fantastic and fresh! My wife's favorite is the taco salad with beef - the beef strips that are served with it are so tender and flavorful - I need to know what they marinade it in!!!!! My favorite is the stuff poblano pepper & burrito combo. Everything is great - the soft drinks are served from glass bottles, so no free refills - so don't be afraid to get a glass of ice water.
