After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. The restaurant is small but wide, with all of the tables lined against the walls. Large stickers adorn the corner of the wall that's closest to the entrance and decorations line the leftmost wall as well. There are also picnic tables outside, so if there isn't any room to sit inside, there is plenty of room outdoors. We walked up and ordered before sitting down. Daughter had the lenguas tacos and thought it was juicy and delectable. She thought the texture was perfect. I had the Mixtos Alambres (chicken, steak, chorizo) and thought it looked weird, like a cheesesteak that missed the hoagie. But, it actually tasted like the perfect cheesesteak. He wished that they'd provide a bun. But, even better, they provided 4 warm tortillas and the diet's over. We were happy! Lastly, Hubs had the campesina/steak quesadilla. He ordered this because he thought we ordered the 2 best items. He can actually say that this was the best quesadilla he's ever had. He's never ordered any standard sounding meat items in Mexican places because it's usually cooked into shoe leather. But, this came out flavorful and moist. Service was quick and friendly. Food is great but check your order thoroughly before you leave. They left out an item and would not fix the charge despite my return to the storefront. Suddenly the counter person could not understand that I wanted a refund for the one item not given and did not know how to do that on the register. If you like tacos, and want something truly delicious, you absolutely need to stop by Tacos Los Compas the first chance you get. These are true, authentic tacos, and are served up just as quick as the junk you get from places like Taco Bell, AND for about the same price. An easy decision, if you ask me! Situated in the "heart" of Brick (near the Hospital, a sort of middle-ground between the 08723 and 08724 sides of town), this little shop is a true gem. Walking in, the decor is festive and open, as well as incredibly clean. The kitchen is in full view, often with a delicious al pastor shawarma rotating on the spit, with a pineapple on top. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and more than happy to explain various menu items if you have any questions. Two large beverage dispensers bubble away with horchata and jamaica, a great choice to wash down the tacos with. The menu is small, and consists of tacos, quesadillas, and alambres. I'd love to see more restaurants do this, as it allows the staff to focus their attention on making those items even better. It shows here; every single thing I've tried has been incredibly flavorful, and the prices are very reasonable, as well. Tacos are purchased in packs of 4, usually around $10 (at the time of this writing), putting the cost about the same as a taco truck. A pack of 4 tacos is a perfect portion for lunch, although if you're very hungry or have a big appetite, it might not hurt to order a quesadilla or something extra. Since the menu is simple, the food is prepared quickly, and I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes for my food. My personal favorites so far are the campechanos tacos, as well as the al pastor, though you really can't go wrong with any of them, imo. Tacos Los Compas is a very welcome addition to town, and one that is well worth a visit. Be warned, you might find yourself hopelessly addicted, as I am! Usually get Al pastor tacos and they're very tasty and recently they added a soft taco version which the difference is the tortilla is flour instead of corn and they add some different toppings making it more of a American version of taco I guess I could say? Regardless both versions are very good. Quesadilla is top notch also I've had a few and they don't disappoint.
