Love love love this place but lowkey have a love hate relationship here. My friend first introduced me to JTEA over 2 years ago. And I had started to go plenty. But then lately, even with inflation and post Covid, I feel the prices are steep for their drinks. Do I still come? Occasionally. Why? Because I absolutely love their brown rice jasmine milk tea, green milk tea, and their absolutely amazing fruit tea. What deters me from coming more is the fact that their fruit tea has now gone up to $7 pre tax. And when you ask for no ice, their drinks are only filled 1/3 or 1/2 of the way - at most. That's super frustrating considering after tax, one drink is easily $7. They also do not have a rewards program which i wish they would. Would be a nice little incentive for return customers. Staff is nice though and the interior is very clean. Cute decor but very limited space. I do wish they would have a table area. They only have high seats available so it's not a place where I can sit down briefly to enjoy my drink with a friend and/or my little ones. read more

When I saw this spot on a recent Yelp search, I knew I had to stop by and check it out since it has my same initials. Turns out that JTea is a cozy little spot in an unassuming strip center WEST of the beltway along Bellaire. The plaza has lounges, sports bars, massage / spas and a Pizza Hut for reference. The inside was nearly full on a Sunday night visit to my surprise. The first items I noticed when I looked up at the menu were their food choices. My visit was strictly for a drink though and after looking over the beverage choices, I quickly decided on the tiramisu milk tea. I love regular milk tea, but also enjoy trying typical dessert flavors if they can be executed well. This drink is pre-loaded with coffee-flavored jelly and a dusting of cocoa on top which you probably won't taste until the very end. When you place your straw at the bottom, you'll have the coffee flavor and if you lift the straw to the middle, you'll have the cream flavor. I really enjoyed this drink and figured they put a little thought into making/presenting it. It comes with a completely different style lid to showcase the cocoa and allow you to sample it too, as opposed to their other drinks which have closed lids. We ordered the Milk Green Tea with Milk Jello and Vietnamese Foam Coffee. I really enjoyed the Milk Green Tea, it wasn't too sweet and the jello was delicious. It kind of reminded me of Thai Green Milk Tea. The coffee was also very good, it was strong for my taste, but if you're coffee lover you will like this drink. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would! After running around to find the best boba place in Houston, JTea definitely won my heart and my boba cravings. I order the classic milk tea and there's something about this fresh milk tea that gives me life! From texture and taste, everything taste amazing. I actually got to come here three times before heading back home! The green milk tea jello is also delicious. I like this place because even though it's a small shop, this place is a real gem. I also tried the banh trang chon, and it tasted really good. The best Viet street food to go and they also have milk tea bottles to go as well which is cool. All the drinks are about $3.50+. This is not your average boba house. Ever wanted cheese and jelly cubes in your beverage? I never thought I would, but it's a surprisingly tasty combination. I had the #1 green tea flavor and felt like I had eaten a full meal. The drink is really creamy and perfectly sweet. This place has come quite a long way. They used to sell their drinks out of the back of a truck. They moved into a shared space of a night club, and finally opened this brick and mortar after continued success. They even have a fairly large food menu. The decor is pretty trendy but the space is quite small, so not too comfortable for lounging with friends for extended periods. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking to try something a little more novel than boba, but it's still a little weird to me. read more

Knowing the boba addict that I am, my friend took me here upon my first day returning to Houston and addicted I am.. 2 visits in 4 days to be exact.. Oops! First time, I tried sea salt foam milk tea with Hokkaido style milk, and it was perfect. I was a bit hesitant since I couldn't reduce the sweetness on this milk tea, but was happy to find that it wasn't too sweet to begin with. The boba was of the perfect texture and flavor!! I tried friend's "brown sugar boba" and thought it was a tad too sweet. Second time, I tried the green milk tea with pudding 25% sweetness, a sip of the taro milk tea w taro pudding (100% sweet), and some jasmine tea w milk foam (courtesy of their special promotion of the day- free with any 2 drink purchase). They were all good except the taro was obviously too sweet for my personal liking. I was surprised to find how fragrant and light the jasmine tea was as I forgot to request reduced sweet level. but I think I'll stick with my original order (sea salt foam with hokkaido style milk tea) or one of the milk foam teas (no milk) in the future. I love anything and everything matcha and was stoked when I saw a picture of an all green drink on Yelp. Already in Bellaire, I made my friend drive us about 2 miles out for something sweet after lunch. I actually said out loud that this place is my "spirit boba shop" because it was so adorably green filled with tons of faux plants like a fiddle leaf fig and framed prints of a monstera leaf and even an artichoke (probably because there's an artichoke drink). They also play EDM if you're into that - I definitely am and I was even sent over to the speaker to Shazam a song that we're still trying to figure out the name of. The music isn't very loud though, so don't worry if you don't love it because it's still very easy to have a conversation or play board games with your friends. I ordered the the milk green tea without the milk jello and opted to add matcha agar boba instead in an attempt to create the drink I saw earlier. The cashier was very patient in explaining what some of the starred items were and was quick in removing the milk jello from my order to add my agar boba. I've definitely had some places struggle whenever an order deviates from the pre-made options, so this was a relief. I like my milk tea on the sweeter side and found this to be the perfect amount of sweetness. Unfortunately, I found the matcha flavor to be lacking, so that probably has to do with a lower grade matcha powder. Overall, the drink was a great deal at $5 though! Service and people were really nice. I think I like the ambiance because it was nicely decorated. The teas however, were not that good compared to the usual teatop/gongcha/Sharetea/kungfutea. If you usually get less sweet definitely get less sweet or half sweet on these drinks, the redeeming thing was the signature milk tea which was insanely good on par with gong cha. JTea doesn't has a ton of drinks available but every drink is concentrated, unique and different. I wish that they have more tea (not milk tea) options. Milk tea no. 1 (green milk tea) - 5/5, it's blend of thai green tea and matcha. This drink brought the store to fame years ago, one of the must-try if you haven't. Milk tea no.5 (signature milk tea) - 5/5, it's actually brown sugar milk tea. The sweetness and creaminess are well balanced. The tea is strong for this one. Milk tea no.3 (classic milk tea) - 3/5, not my cup of tea, it's much sweeter, creamier and lack of tea. Milk tea no. 2 (hokkaido milk tea) - 4/5, my husband's favorite. It's milk tea with toffee flavor. Peach tea - 4.5/5, very refreshing and tastes much better than other places, even though I find it overly sweet for my taste. Sweetness cannot be adjusted. I had to wait for the ice to melt off a little. Aloe vera yogurt - 5/5, one of the most healthy and child-friend option. It's real yogurt made from dairy milk, it came with chunks of aloe vera and yogurt poppings. Royal artichoke - 5/5, also one of the must-try if you are craving for nuoc mat' from Vietnam. It tastes just the same, however, I believe the sugar cannot be adjusted as well. It came with a variety of toppings including aloe vera, chia seeds, crystal boba and grass jelly.
