Sesame Chic with Shrimp Lomein

This is my fav Chinese go to spot. They are on point with everything. Love their Singapore phomay ? Shrimp Lomein, which I always get with jumbo shrimps extra. Sesame chicken. Great service and great ambience, mostly a pick up spot. But you can definitely sit in and eat.

Js takes COVID19 precautions seriously. They have installed clear protective barriers around cashiers and food prep.

I am a bit surprised there are not more recent positive reviews of J's. We have had their food a few times over the years and it has always been good and reasonably priced. J's was not our go-to place for Chinese or Sushi but was a secondary option until recently. The COVID situation caused some closures and forced us to look for alternative options for delivery/take-out and J's turned out to be a a good option. We have ordered Chinese/Sushi delivery and take-out from J's several times recently and have been consistently happy with the quality, quantity, accuracy, timeliness, and value received. They have a good COVID pickup process - I have called when I arrived for pick-up and they bring my order out to my car wearing a mask. I typically arrive early but they always have my food ready at the time scheduled.

Storefront Chinese takeout place that punches way above its weight with fresh skillfully prepared Asian food. Incredible value.

Better sushi than Sushi X. The ginger and wasabi paste tasted old. Crab Rangoon was good.

If you're in the Capital Region and appreciate authentic Asian cuisine done right, Ala Shanghai…read morecontinues to set the bar. The fried sea bass with sweet and sour sauce was absolutely superb--perfectly crisp on the outside while still tender and flaky inside, balanced beautifully with that classic tangy sweetness that doesn't overpower the fish. And of course, the soup dumplings are always on point. Each one is delicate yet packed with flavor, with that rich broth that bursts out the moment you take a bite. It's the kind of consistency that keeps you coming back because you already know the quality will be there every time. What also makes this establishment stand out is the ambience. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance--comfortable, lively, and welcoming without feeling rushed. You can tell the place runs on pride and discipline. The owner and waitstaff are always diligently moving, making sure every table is attended to and every guest is taken care of. That level of attentiveness is something you don't see everywhere anymore. For me, this has become my go-to Asian bistro in the Capital Region. Great food, strong hospitality, and a kitchen that clearly respects the craft. If you know, you know.

We had tangerine chicken (one of the specials of the week), sautéed pea shoots, veggie fried rice, the dumplings, spring rolls, and the scallion pancakes. If all I had were the pea shoots and the fried rice, I would have been satisfied. The service was great. The tea was smooth. The room was dark. I can't explain it fully, but it reminded me of a few restaurants I experienced in China. The place was packed! I was able to take a photo of the inside after a few people left.

Tamarind Thai in Latham is one of my favorite Thai restaurants!…read more There are several dishes that are already "accidentally vegan" meaning it is a plant-based meal that doesn't include any animal products like eggs, butter, dairy milk, seasoning or sauces made from seafood or mollusks. Their curry dishes are all accidentally vegan, and you can keep them vegan when you add a protein by choosing either steamed or fried tofu. The staff is so polite and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes and can help you customize your meals if you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten intolerant, or have any other food sensitivities. On this visit they were decorated for the holidays. Beautiful red, silver, and white balls hung from the ceiling, string lights, pine garland, and a flocked Christmas tree in the front window all made the restaurant cozy and inviting. I had the curry fried rice with spring rolls and unsweetened iced tea and my husband had the hot vegetables entree with white rice and a side of sticky rice.

Many people get take out from here which I will admit, we have done twice but we really enjoy dining in at the restaurant because it's fun. The staff is really nice and extremely helpful. When we say vegan they know what we mean which is difficult sometimes because a lot of people have misconceptions about what that entails. You have to think about what ingredients the noodles were made with, do they contain egg or not. What sauces are traditionally used, is it a fish sauce? Is something cooked with butter? So just saying no meat, eggs, or dairy doesn't always make people think about everything but this restaurant gets it. Also people ask well what about gluten? It has nothing to do with being vegan it is related to having celiac disease. Bottom line, if you have food allergies or sensitivities, they know what is in their food and they will tell you or offer suggestions to help you out. The spring rolls, the gyoza, the crazy noodle (drunken noodle), curry rice, fresh rolls, all of it has been good everytime we go. This review is long overdue, Tamarind is just so good if you need vegan or vegetarian options they have a lot of plant-based menu items. The unsweetened iced tea, that's my jam! Love it!
