Jimmy was amazing, informed, and reasonable. It's difficult finding genuine people in this industry who see an issue and offer a true and affordable solution. I will be recommending this place to everyone who wants their cars in good hands. My splashguard was ripped up and instead of installing the cheap replacement I brought for him to install, he cleaned it up, offered to find me a better cover, and was quick with a turnaround time to get it fixed. Will be coming back for future car needs. :) Thank you Jimmy!! read more

Jimmy is thoughtful and considerate in offering services and recommendation for car services. I just came in for a brake inspection and he let me know that I didnt need it yet and educated me on best practices and what is due next for my car. He even offered to change my oil since I was already there and honestly kind of forgot about it. He's well versed, patient, and does his best to take care of you. I personally wouldnt go to anyone else right now because I feel most other places would take advantage of someone who isnt car savvy. THANKS JIMMMYYYYY read more

Jimmy and his team really know their stuff! If you're looking for a tech / mechanic that you can trust, that won't over-charge (like the dealership), look no further. Shops like these are hard to come by, and I will happily be back. J's Auto Grage performed a routine oil change, on my '24 WRX. Everything went flawlessly, with no up-sells. Extremely transparent and friendly. Thanks again Jimmy! read more

Brought my jankie car in for some services and Jimmy and his team helped me through with everything that's needed and at a good pricing. I had hesitation at first because i had bad experiences, made loads of $$$ and everytime I bring my car in to get something done someplace else, another problem occurs after. But nope, not here, they made me felt trust and comfortable and they did a wonderful job with my car. I would highly recommend coming here for any services your car needs. My wife was traveling through Livermore when her maintenance light started blinking. I tracked down J's Auto Garage through Yelp and they got right back to me. I brought my vehicle in for a transmission and differential fluid change and the team at J's Auto Garage took the time to explain the process and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed. They even provided me some tips on how to keep my car running smoothly for longer. I dropped my car off later in the morning and was able to pick it up in the early afternoon. They were priced very fair compared to other shops I've gotten quotes from. I would like to add that their waiting area was clean and inspired confidence that they pay attention to detail and will do the work right. Since the service, my car has been running smoother than ever! If you're looking for honest, high-quality car maintenance, I highly recommend this place. I'll definitely be coming back for future services! read more

Best car service in Bay Area! Took my Nissan and my Suburban to get oil change, tires rotated, and aligned. Commuting for Sunnyvale to the Valley, this place is super convenient and the hours of service definitely help when trying to avoid traffic. Super fast service and the price is unmatched! I don't think I'll go to any other spot moving forward. I don't know any other auto shop owner who is down to get their hands dirty!! read more

1 star - Dishonest, Unreliable, and a Total Waste of Time and Money I truly don't understand how this shop has so many good reviews--until I realized Jimmy, the owner, actively asks (or rather begs) customers to leave them. That explains a lot. I brought my car in for a repair because Jimmy said he guarantees all of his work. Not only was the issue not fixed, but when I brought the car back under their so-called warranty/guarantee, it sat untouched for days. Every time I followed up, I was told it was being worked on, tested or just about finished. But when I showed up in person, it was still on the lift, clearly not touched at all. They lied to me repeatedly and wasted so much of my time. In the end, I had to take my car somewhere else and pay again just to get the work done properly. So I'm out all the money I originally paid Jimmy for absolutely nothing. The dishonesty and runaround were shocking, especially given the fake impression the Yelp reviews give. If you value your time, money, or peace of mind, stay far away from J's Auto Garage. Jimmy talks a big game, but the follow-through is nonexistent. read more

I would give this shop more stars if i could! Jimmy was great and had my car back on the road faster than i imagined. Especially with the convenience of having the parts on hand or on the same block. Great customer service & i recommend his shop to anyone. Very straight forward and genuine with his answers and knowledge. Thank you again ! read more

J's Auto Garage is the only place I trust with my car. Jimmy is an absolute gem--knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly trustworthy. His friendly demeanor and exceptional customer service set him apart from anyone I've encountered in the auto industry. What truly makes Jimmy stand out is his honest and expert advice. I have never once felt misled or pressured when it comes to decisions about my car. Beyond repairs and maintenance, he goes above and beyond by offering top-tier referrals for bodywork, car wraps, and more--each recommendation as reliable as his own work. I've taken my car in for various issues, from mysterious noises to routine tune-ups, and every time, Jimmy diagnoses the problem with precision, gets the job done efficiently, and has me back on the road in no time. After my recent tune-up, I could immediately feel the difference--it was like driving a brand-new car! Called and inquired about getting coil overs installed in my 2023 mx-5. Jimmy gave me a reasonable quote, made time for me and was very accommodating. Thomas and Patrick were very knowledgeable and explained how everything was set up after the install. Patrick even went on a ride along with me to address any questions/concerns with my first lowered car. Jimmy contacted me later to ask me how the coil overs were feeling and made sure everything was working as expected. Great service, friendly, knowledgeable, and respected my time. Will be back for more upgrades/maintenance read more

Quick, knowledgeable, friendly, and reliable service. Honest pricing. I was referred by a friend and will happily refer my friends to J's.

With so many miles put in this past season on my car, it was well overdo for a tune-up and brake maintenance. The team here was friendly, professional, and attentive to all of my needs. This was easily one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I've had with a mechanic. It began when I spoke with a technician who told me that if I towed my car to their shop, they could potentially have it diagnosed and fixed by the next day. That gave me confidence, so I paid out of pocket to tow my vehicle over immediately--thinking it would be worked on right away. But once the car arrived and I spoke with the manager, I was told they wouldn't even be able to look at it for another three days--maybe. That was completely different from what I had been told on the phone. Had I known that upfront, I absolutely would have shopped around for a more honest and transparent shop. I expressed my frustration about the timeline and the steep $180 diagnostic fee, and instead of addressing my concerns professionally, the manager said he'd "hook me up" if I left them a 5-star review. In the end, he reduced the diagnostic fee to $100, but it felt less like a gesture of goodwill and more like a bribe. It was clear he was trying to buy a good review rather than earn it with real service. Despite the shady vibe, I went ahead with the repair--$100 for diagnosis, $200 for the fix. Less than 24 hours later, the same issue happened again. When I called the shop, I was told I'd need to pay another $180 just to re-diagnose it. That's unacceptable. If the original repair fails immediately, the shop should stand behind their work--not charge the customer again for what appears to be an unresolved issue. The fact that I was being treated like a new transaction instead of a returning customer with a failed repair says everything about how they do business. Between the bait-and-switch on the repair timeline, the failed fix, the shady offer in exchange for a 5-star review, and the attempt to charge me again for the same problem, this place feels completely untrustworthy. I won't be back--and I recommend anyone reading this look elsewhere for honest, professional service. read more

My wife's RX needed an oil change, but with our busy schedule, it was tough to find a time that worked with other shops' availability. Jimmy was able to fit us in on a Saturday, and even when unexpected delays made us late, he was very understanding and still accommodated us. J's Auto Garage completed the oil change and a quick inspection in a timely manner. The location is also great--I was able to take the kids to Michael's while we waited and there are a couple of eateries if one is hungry. Would definitely recommend. read more
