Couch on scaffolding about to be lowered

Funny story.... We bought a couch that didn't fit down the stairwell in our house. After trying to return it and couldn't, we started brainstorming what we could do to get the couch into the room we bought it for... Luckily we were doing some exterior house work and already had scaffolding erected and we're able to find JP Moving - one of the only moving companies willing to take on moving a couch from an upper floor to a lower floor via the outside of the house. I should mention that our house is built in a steep incline and the couch move was at least 35 feet above ground. JP Moving Services was super responsive and showed up on time. They strategized how we were going to lower the couch to the space below and wrapped it up in moving blankets and then plastic wrap to protect it. Despite the complex move, the POURING rain and it being 35 feet in the air, everything went as planned and we successfully got the couch in its proper room. I am very grateful for such a great moving team and thought they did a really good job. Highly recommend.

A few years ago we bought the world's heaviest table. 300lbs+ of solid glass. The perfect combination of heavy and fragile. "No worries" we figured after it was delivered - "we'll never have to move it out of here". Then x2 job moves took us out of state and we had to put it in and out of storage. Both times we used Jiri and his team to help disassemble, move, reassemble it. They're careful, methodical and conscientious (and strong). Highly recommended for moving problematic, valuable items.

Our Casper Cal King Mattress in a very large box got delivered. My wife and I could not take the large heavy box upstairs. It is very heavy 145 Ibs. I contacted J P Moving Services via Yelp. Jiri - the owner was able to come to the my house that evening. Jiri was able to pickup the large heavy box all by himself and brought it upstairs a few steps at a time. He is very strong ! Jiri then move the box into the bedroom. I cut open the box. Jiri took the compressed mattress out and rolled off the plastic wrap. He then placed the compressed mattress on our bed frame. I cut open the last compressed plastic and the mattress start to decompress. Mattress start to get bigger and bigger. Jiri then move the large deflated Cal King size mattress on the bed frame. Thank you, Jiri for your wonderful moving job. Finally tonight we can enjoy sleeping on our new mattress. If you need a good moving job, go to Yelp and contact , J P Moving Services. 5 Stars + Thanks, Jiri !

Booking: I sent an inquiry directly with the company due to their stellar reviews, and they were able to schedule me in for my preferred time/day. The overall process was really convenient, especially because of their flexible time window. Moving: the two movers, Herman and Aleksei, were incredibly efficient and very sweet/patient throughout the move. I appreciate that they handled both my expensive & economical items delicately. Also, I wasn't completely prepared on my end with the move such as knowing details like where to park for loading/unloading or even which items to move vs discard, which I had been dreading for weeks. However, thanks to their expertise and versatility, the move was stress-free. And a huge shoutout to Herman for his guidance and coordination that really ensured a seamless experience. Overall, this company lives up to its 5-star rating, and I highly recommend Herman & Aleksei if they are available!

Paid a little over 2.5k to move a 630 sq ft 1b/1b 3 miles and had 3, and eventually 4 movers. Overall I'd say it was good, not great When I scheduled I explained I had two walkins with lots of clothes - they assigned me three people when I likely needed more as I had a walkup. We ended up totally missing the window for the move which is more my fault but I had asked the people who confirmed if they felt it was reasonable. They helped move the hanging items (which I expect) and had me pitch in to pack the glass despite having asked for them to send someone to do this. It's not an issue but I do think there was a general lack of communication bw the movers and the ppl who helped book that made the day less efficient than it could have been. I'm happy to pack those things as it gave me an outlet for my moving anxiety and saves me time ofc but even without packing glass it still took 9 hours When I realized we were pretty behind it was very easy to get someone else last minute at noon, so that was helpful and everyone coordinated quickly to make it happen. All the guys were also very respectful and carefully wrapped my furniture (table, 4 chairs, coffee and side table, large tv, bed and heavy lifting frame, chair desk and small wine fridge). I think I have a lot crammed in to a 1B and was overall a good experience, though not quite as smooth or efficient as my previous SF moves Pros: Crew is friendly Didn't break anything, including my fancy stemware Cleaned up after themselves removing wrap and paper Very efficient by helping me add an extra mover at a reasonable cost ($50hr) Cons: Timing ended up being totally off :( not their fault completely but I tried to communicate several times during booking I had a small elevator window and a lot of stuff Pretty pricey for a 1 bed 3 mile move

My wife already left a review but they deserve as many accolades as possible…read more We hired OBM because they quoted us the lowest price, but they were also the best and I highly doubt other movers would've gone above & beyond the way they did. We had a challenging move from downtown S.F. to Berkeley, to a house that is in the middle of multiple construction projects. Yet they made everything feel easy. I had gotten food poisoning the day before and we were stressing because we hadn't yet finished packing. But it was no problem--they loaded the truck with the items that were ready to go while we packed the rest. Make sure to ask for Joseph and his team (Fernando and Victor). They arrived a little early so they'd be ready and were the utmost professional while also being a warm and friendly team of guys. We would have them over dinner any time. Because of Joseph I'm now convinced that moving is both an art and an athletic feat. We had a recliner (100lbs) and a treadmill (200lbs) that were too wide to go through a doorway--and yet he maneuvered them effortlessly through without a scratch on either.

DO NOT USE ROYAL MOVING & STORAGE…read more My experience involved deceptive billing, $1,348.35 being taken and later refunded after I fought the charges, a $204.85 tip intentionally added without my knowledge or approval, manipulative tactics by management, damaged property, and a missing item. I was quoted $627 to pack and move my business property into Royal's storage. The crew was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. but arrived around 10:30. I did not receive the invoice until the move was complete and my property was already at Royal's Oakland facility. The bill was $2,048.50 before tip and included: * 5.5 billed hours, although Royal's records show 10:31 a.m.-2:58 p.m.--4 hours and 27 minutes of actual work. * $480 for complimentary moving pads. * $100 for bubble wrap the return driver confirmed was never used. * $90 for wardrobe boxes advertised as complimentary. * $100 for an item supposedly over 300 pounds, although the return driver confirmed none existed. * A $204.85 tip I never approved, authorized, or knew about. I had already given the crew a $60 cash tip based on the $627 quote. When I saw the inflated bill, I specifically told the driver not to charge my card because management and I were disputing it. A manager later confirmed that management had also told him not to process the payment. He processed $2,253.35 anyway and intentionally added a $204.85 tip for himself without my knowledge or approval. I did not discover it until I received the invoice the next day. This was not an accidental selection or billing error. He was told not to charge the card, charged it anyway, and deliberately took another $204.85. That is theft. Royal tried to claim its payment screen automatically defaulted to a tip. The driver's own screenshots contradict that explanation: they show "Tip Amount 0," "No tip," and "Add No Tip." The tip had to be selected and added. I spent five or six days dealing with multiple managers to recover my money. Rather than immediately correcting the bill, management used manipulative tactics and selectively quoted portions of Royal's website and estimate while ignoring language contradicting their claims. Management first claimed moving pads and blankets were different. Then they claimed the $480 was charged because the pads would remain in storage and would be refunded when returned. Royal eventually admitted this supposed charge was not disclosed anywhere. The return driver confirmed that pads and blankets are the same and Royal does not charge storage customers for them in any capacity. He also confirmed no bubble wrap was used and no item exceeded 300 pounds. Royal eventually corrected the legitimate bill to $905 and refunded $1,348.35. This was not a discount, compensation, or goodwill. It was my own money being returned after invalid charges were removed. Royal did not discount the corrected bill by one penny. Management admitted the intentionally added tip was unacceptable and should never have happened, but later confirmed the employee was still employed. Royal cannot credibly say intentionally taking a customer's money is unacceptable while retaining the person who did it. Once management knew exactly what happened and chose to keep him, this became a reflection of the company--not merely one dishonest employee. It told me everything I needed to know about Royal's character and business ethics. The problems continued. During the billing dispute, I told a manager I was worried about my stored property because this employee and his coworkers still had access to everything my business owned. She guaranteed my belongings would be fine. When Royal returned them, a massage table and water dispenser were damaged and a TV wall mount was missing. My documented replacement costs were $316.13. Royal did not respond to my claim for about a week, then twice claimed it had not received emails that showed as delivered. I finally had to resubmit everything through a text link. Royal offered only $200 as a "gesture of goodwill." Partially paying for property damaged or lost while in its possession is not goodwill. It is another refusal to take full responsibility. Mistakes happen. What defines a business is how management responds. Royal defended invalid charges, gave explanations contradicted by its own records, made me fight nearly a week to recover $1,348.35, retained an employee who intentionally stole more than $200 from me, and refused to fully cover documented damaged and missing property. In my experience, Royal Moving & Storage cannot be trusted with your property, credit card, or money. I strongly warn others not to use this company.
