JP was very responsive and prompt. He told me it was going to be 250$ to fix my drivers side door lock. I came the next day to get it fixed, but then he had me call the Honda dealership to go get the part myself which was a 30 minute walk in total. The part cost me 50$. Then he charged me an extra 50$ for the "additional part" to be fixed when he was just doing the job that I asked him to do since the beginning. They quoted me a very reasonable price ($10/each or $30/four) to copy my old car key onto a couple blanks I already had for it. When I got there, my old key was too worn out to copy, so they looked up the manufacturer's code and made me two factory keys for a very fair price (an extra $50. Note: I have a really old GM vehicle; don't expect your newer car to be that cheap). I had actually been having problems with my ignition lock cylinder being really wonky and having to wiggle it around a bunch to get it to turn. With these new keys, that problem has been completely solved. So they weren't just trying to talk me into a more expensive option, it was something my car actually needed. Joseph was really my hero! My key was freely spinning in my ignition and would not turn the car engine off. I was panicking trying to figure out what to do with a vehicle that I couldn't turn off. Many locksmiths I called were already closed or gave me bad advice (one person told me to let the gas run out). One helpful resource knew what the problem was but he thought it would be hard to get the car part. He said JP Automotive Locksmith was my best bet. I called Joseph at 6pm on a Friday night and he said he could help me. He waited for me for over an hour until I could get there. When I arrived he immediately started taking parts off under the steering wheel and safely turned the car off. Lost my keys, Toyota dealership wanted to racket me, this guys made me two keys for a decent price... Full story : I thought the dealership were there to service their clients, I guess I was wrong ! They wanted to charge me $250 for the key AND $300 for programming it. Let's be real here, the cost of the key is probably $1 for the dealership that buy it in bulk. Let say $10 to be conservative. So they're making over $500 profit for a 30 min job ! The locksmith I'm sure have to pay more for the part and manage to charge half and make a comfortable living... He explained to me the two step process of setting up the transponder on the car key, of which I'm sadly to admit, I only knew one and thought there was only one. Progress not perfection I like to say. Either way, I got my new second key for my 2009 Honda Fit. We bought our 2014 CRV used, and for whatever reason it only came with one key. "Not a big deal", I thought at the time. My wife would be the one driving it the most, while I drove our older Fit to work. Fast forward through a couple of years of "Not a big deal" and I'm going to drop my son off at school and then take to CRV to the shop for an oil change while my wife takes our daughter to a doctor's appointment in the Fit. I showed up unannounced with my van's driver side door's key unable to interact/activate the locking/unlocking mechanism. Joseph looked at it and said it might cost $80 to fix if we had to take off the whole custom-conversion'd door apparatus. Well, we tried, but couldn't get the dang thing off. Then, instead, he managed to quickly reattach the latching mechanism through the little peep hole in the side of the door and charged me $30!
