I literally joined Yelp! so I could leave this review. Went there over the weekend with my kids. The owner of this place should go to anger management classes. The way he was treating the poor waitress was the most abhorrent things I have had to witness. The owner was screaming and I mean screaming at the waitress and dropping f bombs to her left and right, the owner would go into the kitchen all you would hear was screaming and banging in the kitchen. He also had the absolute gall to scream at an ELDERLY employee saying that she didn't know anything! Also, when the phone would ring for pick up orders he would scream into the phone for the people "to stop calling!!!!" This man should be investigated for abuse because this was absolutely horrible to watch. Obviously he doesn't need the business he's bringing if he has the nerve to tell people to stop calling. And if people think maybe he was having a bad day...no...I've heard from countless people that this is how he behaves to the point that some Doordashers have stopped going there for this reason, he also screams at them too. I will say that although the waitress was being humiliated, berated and belittled she still had a smile on her face each time she came to us, she was wonderful and extremely kind and whoever she is I hope she gets a wonderful job so she doesn't have to take this from this animal who calls himself an owner! read more

I typically do Chinese food here and it's alright, today I ordered veggie pad Thai and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. The noodles were completely mush.. the vegetables were not fresh and also mushy. Flavor was disgusting, I could not eat it. It was bad enough that I drove back to requested if I could maybe swap the pad Thai for lo mein.. they were kind enough to agree which I was thankful for, however I was bummed because I was really craving pad Thai and wasn't looking to drive far. I have gotten take out Chinese food from here on a couple occasions and it was ok. The other day my boyfriend and I decided to dine in for sushi. We ordered five rolls, my go to for any new to me sushi place is the rainbow roll, and spicy tuna mostly because every sushi place has these options. We also ordered the Alaskan, Dynamite and Philly. The rainbow roll and the dynamite were pretty but had no flavor. In fact none of the rolls had much flavor except the spicy tuna which had a minimal spice. We ordered hot tea for the table and it kinda tasted like dishwater. Most of the plates had chips in them like dings/nicks. Even the crunchy things they bring you at the beginning had an off flavor and the dipping sauce was watery and tasted like apple sauce. It was unanimous we will not be returning here. Let me start off by saying this is the only local Chinese food restaurant so they automatically get points for that. The food is good, the restaurant is clean and the service is quick, the only off-putting aspect is that the hostess has about as much personality as a wet dish rag. It's very awkward as a customer to be friendly to restaurant staff, only to have that friendliness met with uncomfortable silence or flat, emotionless responses. This doesn't hinder me from frequent visits to Joyful House, but I can understand why someone who places importance on friendly service would be slightly disappointed. This is a nice place. Nice decor. Really nice looking bar. We stopped in for lunch and ordered the general tso and roast pork egg foo young lunch special. It came with fried rice and soup or egg roll. Everything was really good. The fried rice is a star. Not too greasy or overcooked at all. The crabrangoon is very good too. I have gotten food twice from Joyful House with mixed results. The first time i ate in and had a bento box lunch which was amazing and some steamed dumplings which were surprisingly good. The next time i got regular Chinese combo plate take out and while it was alright it was nothing special. The dumplings were just okay the second time. I go here often service is fast and friendly and for a small restaurant in the middle of nowhere they have some of the best sushi I have ever had!
