Kitchen glassware packed by the movers
    Indre C.

We recently moved from Kirkland, WA to Greenwich, CT. My experience with this moving company was far from satisfactory. While the staff and movers were pleasant, my overall experience was marred by several issues. Firstly, the movers did not handle my stuff with the care I expected. My dresser and nightstand ended up chipped and scratched during the move, a computer monitor and kitchen glassware were also smashed up, which was disappointing. The most significant problem, however, was the disappearance of valuable items like my expensive men's bike and a pressure washer. When I reached out to the company and filed a claim, I was told that because I had signed the paperwork upon delivery, they had no liability for the missing items. This was extremely frustrating. If you are considering hiring this moving service, my advice to you would be to act as your own supervisor throughout the entire process. Create and maintain a meticulous list of all items packaged and ensure you check off each item as it is being delivered. This extra step may seem unnecessary, but my experience has taught me that it is essential when dealing with this company. Moving a household is already a significant undertaking, especially if you have children to manage during the process. The added stress of ensuring every item is accounted for during the move should not be the customer's responsibility alone. It's deeply disappointing that this company could not take responsibility for their mistakes and left me with missing items and no recourse for recovery. EDIT: I didn't see a way to reply to Wills comment below so I'm adding it here: Hello Will, I appreciate your response and would like to clarify my perspective on the matter. You are indeed correct; I opted for the 60 cents per pound coverage for the move. However, it is essential to note that this decision was influenced by advice I received from your staff. They suggested that I should not invest in the more expensive coverage since I would be pre-packing some items myself. In hindsight, I am relieved that I did not opt for the higher coverage because the items I packed personally arrived at their destination without issue. It is the packing done by your crew that is a cause for concern, as evidenced by the photos. I would be more than willing to accept some level of damage to my belongings if I felt that due care and consideration were given during the move. I have relocated across the country more than ten times in the past 20 years, and while some damage and minor losses are expected during a move, they have never occurred to this extent. For instance, the dresser and nightstand were not even wrapped to prevent scratches, and some boxes appeared as though they had been carelessly thrown off the truck. While I have experienced missing items in the past, they typically involved replaceable components, such as slats from a bed frame (as a side note, even though I signed for the paperwork for that company as well they ended up replacing the bed without issue). In this instance, the only missing items are intact possessions that could readily be resold. Regarding the paperwork, you are accurate that I signed it at the end of the moving day. However, I am left to question whether I had a viable alternative. At the end of the day, for the first time that day, I was handed numerous pages of documentation that required my signature, and this occurred when the moving crew, consisting of six or seven individuals, was eager to conclude their work due to several hours of driving ahead of them, made even more challenging by adverse weather conditions. They were tired understandably, they wanted to get going home, I was what was standing in their way. Throughout the day, the contents of my four-bedroom home were brought into my new residence and distributed throughout various rooms. I was under the impression that one of your crew members was responsible for the inventory as items were brought in. Given the decentralized placement of my belongings and the absence of a copy of the inventory until the end of the day, conducting a comprehensive inventory of each item as they were scattered throughout the house would have been a laborious and intricate process. Having the crew wait around for an hour or two while I went through hundreds of items, while also trying to manage my 4 and 2 year old, didn't seem like a feasible option. Based on other reviews I have read since my move it doesn't seem like this is a unique situation to your company. In the very least this should prompt a policy change on your end of how items are inventoried once delivered. The client shouldn't have to micromanage the moving crew. This isn't an issue of money but an issue of respect for your customers, their things, and their time. A client comes to you with an expectation that their things will be reasonably cared for and moved from one location to another. In this case the expectations were clearly not met.

Let me start with the good: Bill Adams is a good estimator and guy...unfortunately he doesn't do the the actual move. After a good experience moving WITHIN CT, we used Joyce to move to SC...big mistake. Do not use this firm to move out of any State. They destroyed 47 of our items, and the damage occurred when they moved from 1 moving truck ( original one) to another larger truck in Bristol, CT, and crammed our stuff in with another client. Our 6 Month experience attempting to get insurance settlement was horrific...and we ended up with about a $4300 claim with was far below the $10k worth of damage and replacement costs....absolute nickel and dime us to death. For this we paid good money to move (over $10k) and good money for an insurance policy.....which was a joke. Beware!

This review is overdue! We moved two months ago on 8/18/23, and it was such a good experience I'm sorry it took me this long to write a review. My boyfriend's new company selected Joyce as our movers for a corporate relocation from San Diego to Dana Point, CA. If you're not familiar, these cities are about an hour away from each other without traffic. So, we were fortunate not to be moving across the country buuut I was still pretty stressed since moving is never easy and I'm used to vetting companies before choosing them. Wow, what a relief we had a pleasant experience from start to finish with the Joyce Redlands team: Chris Mora, Ashtin Loya, and Luis Mariano. These gentlemen knew each other well, and it showed in their work. Chris's team listened to my concerns, answered all questions, and bent over backwards to make sure we felt comfortable every step of the way. At one point I gave Chris a difficult request... we had a new Tempur-Pedic mattress and the salesman told me when we bought it to keep the mattress horizontal when we move and never stand it upright. I asked Chris if this was possible, and he was surprised (I guess this isn't something people ask for lol) but said he'd work his magic. I was so impressed when he showed me later how his team rearranged everything on the truck to make room for the mattress to lay flat on the floor for the entire move. It wasn't practical but he was willing to do it for me. Big thank you to Chris, Ashtin, and Luis for going the extra mile. They helped us to unpack some of our things in Dana Point and removed as many boxes as they could before they left. Shout out to Deirdre Wittmann for coordinating our move and calming me down every time I called LOL. Attaching a pic of the movers on our old patio in San Diego with their permission. I would hire them again!

Moving day can be stressful and not having a well planned estimate will cause issues…read more We were quoted $1,300 - $1500 for two men and a half day. We were asked to send pictures of all our items so they can fine-tune the estimate and make sure they are properly prepared to meet the customers' needs. We followed their request and sent pictures of EVERY item to be moved. Subsequent to sending the pictures the estimator said that after reviewing the photos he would like to add an additional man and increase the time based on his review of the photos. Their proposal was increased slightly ($1,500 - $1,700) (we had no issues with the request), and we awaited their arrival on moving day. Moving day came the workers on the truck were very nice. However mid-way through moving things went south fast. The workers broke an expensive glass bar cart and called to inform their home office. The original estimator then called to say we had more stuff than anticipated and the truck was full. The stuff was exactly what was in the one dozen photos sent two weeks prior to the move. These photos contained all the furniture and all of boxes that we had packed for the move. He then proceeded to state that we "didn't inform them there were boxes to move" (a complete lie). We calmly said two of the pictures sent to you (which the workers on site actually had on their cell phones) have a stack of boxes in the family room and another from the garage. He said well, "people move their boxes themselves sometimes'". Our response was simply questioning why we would have sent the pictures, at their request, if we intended to move them on our own. After arriving at 11:05 and deciding they were done at 5:30 sharp, the movers left over 20% of the remaining contents. They said they needed to move what they have in the truck and "they would come back the next day", but we would be getting another quote for the remaining move. When I questioned the additional quote the gentleman from the home office then revised it talk track to say he would not be able to insure he could come back tomorrow (Saturday, knowing the house was being sold) and stated and he would do it in 3 days (past the date of the house being sold) but the quote had to be signed to get on a possible schedule. He carried on saying "couldn't disrupt his clients already on tomorrows schedule". I guess its OK to disrupt a client by leaving 20% of the job behind. His quote for completing the move arrived the next day and the move would now be almost double the original price! Needless to say we quickly found an honest and reputable company for less than 1/2 of the additional quote from Two Movers. Two days later they sent a final bill for $800.00 more than his revised estimate, bringing the total moving cost to more than twice their original estimated when added to the additional mover we had to hire. We informed them of their error in number of hours billed, and reminded them they didn't complete the job, and that they broke the bar cart. Their response was that the bar cart isn't covered as they were not specifically informed of it in the move list, but they would give me $50.00 for it even though it was included in the pictures we had sent which prompted them to increase the original estimate. They said any items not specifically "written" on the contact were not their liability! The reality is they received pictures of all the items being moved, they double checked those photos well enough to increase the estimate to include an additional man. While we hope for a fair resolution that accurately accounts for actual hours worked and the damage to the property they caused, we have so far not heard back from them revising their billing or received any apology for the distasteful experience Update : The owner called apologized for the stress and miscommunications and we settled on a fair amount for the work they did The owner was very nice and concerned about our experience and perception of his office staff because it's not what the majority of his customers experience according to him My advice ask a lot of questions and list as many of your bigger or more expensive/delicate items upfront so you can openly discuss how they will be handled. Ask about travel timing billing and supplemental insurance for your property

We could not have been happier with this experience!! From the detailed quote provided by Steve, who was quick to respond to questions, to the actual day of the move, everything went...well, smooth is the best word! No storage cubes, no organization--just a disgraceful setup that looks like it was abandoned years ago. Almost $1,200 , and from the very first pickup (less than a two‑minute drive, with items already packed), the nightmare began. The contents were tied to an eviction, and the rightful owner desperately needed access to essentials--credit card, cash, and medicine. Smooth Move held those items hostage for over a week, forcing needless suffering just to retrieve basic necessities. And as if the humiliation of their "facility" wasn't enough, they capped it off by overbilling my credit card just under $200. That's not just incompetence--it's exploitation. Smooth Move isn't a storage company. It's a scam dressed up as service, a disgusting office space pretending to be legitimate. Save yourself the agony: avoid them at all costs.

If the answer is Move King, LLC....RUN. I got ripped off, big time. I was completely taken advantage of and my valuables showed up shattered beyond repair. To this day, they refuse to take accountability. I've moved over 15 times in my life. I've worked with reputable movers and shady ones, but NOTHING comes close to the absolute trainwreck that is TopTier Moving (a name so ironic it's almost offensive). They quoted me about $3,600 for my move. Reasonable. But when the movers actually showed up, Move King, LLC, TopTier's third-party vendor that they never warned me about, they immediately told me the job would cost me an additional $3,000. No discussion. No explanation. Just a bait-and-switch right at my front door. Let that sink in: before a single item was moved, I was already being held hostage for $3,000 more than I agreed to. And it only got worse from there. My TopTier "point of contact," who was really just the sales guy who convinced me they were a reputable company, ghosted me immediately after my initial payments were processed. He never once answered a call or email after I paid. Move King tacked on ridiculous charges like $300 because the hallway in my building was "too long." That's not a joke...they literally charged me by the foot to walk. Every step they took seemed to cost me more money. I ended up paying over $7,000, nearly double the original quote. And what did I get for it? A shattered ( and brand-new) $1,300 Google TV, broken in transit despite paying top dollar for boxes and "protective wrapping." So much for professional care.
