Super cute shop. Has some cool anime on the wall. They have a wide variety of drinks! Fruit teas, smoothies, milk tea, & then some different food items you can choose from. They have a kiosk for ordering to make it easy as well. I got a fruit star tea and it tasted pretty good. Only complaint was it was a bit sour from the lime. Still very good though. Also got their mango grapefruit tea. That was my favorite. Perfect sweetness, some fresh fruit in each sip, just overall perfect. I will definitely be coming back to this shop. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the person at the front register didnt even acknowledge me. I had to use the kiosk to order. Which isn't the end of the world. Just isnt helpful if you have questions about drinks. Still recommend anyone who loves fruit teas to give this place a try!

Drinks were delicious and it came very quick quickly after we ordered. Large variety of flavors to choose from. I recommend the grapefruit lychee freeze, lychee mango freeze, pineapple coconut, and mango coconut green tapioca.

We picked one of the hottest days to walk around China Town. I broke a sweat just crossing the street. Got a slight tingle in the back of my throat that strongly encouraged immediate hydration. So why not stop by one of the most favored boba and fruit tea shops. I had no idea what to order. Standing inside an establishment with nice COOL air allowed me time to carefully choose. I watched other customers leave with drinks in hand. Each one prettier than the next. Did I see matcha soft serve? Wow, next time. Peeked into the display case and spied the perfect combo for my drink; fresh strawberries and lychee jelly. Yes, please. A great compliment to the jasmine tea. Ice cold, fruity and every sip refreshing. We each chose different drinks and every one was happy.

Best ever bubble teas: passion fruit + pineapple freeze with tapioca! Try it. son's favorite: banana freeze with strawberry popping.

Everybody knows this place. No surprise here. Great bubble tea in China town. Don't get the food in my opinion it is not so good. But the bubble teas are great. Only reason I am writing a review is that after many samples I finally found the perfect combo: passion fruit + pineapple freeze with tapioca. Do yourself a favor and try one!

In general, my husband and I think Joy Yee is pretty darn good however, I never been to their dessert spot at Plus. But goodness gracious, I am very much a sweets gal and this Waffle Ice Cream hit the spot. When it comes to flavor, it was pretty much vanilla soft serve with chocolate on top of chocolate. Nothing can go wrong with that. And the waffle was delicious itself. Cooked perfectly.

Restaurant in china town. Had dessert there. I had the chocolate bubble waffle sundae and my friend had graham cracker version. Ice cream was really tasty but I wasn't the biggest fan of the bubble waffle. Very unique sundae. Quick service

Looking for boba's in Chicago Chinatown? Look no more..they have smoothies, boba's and fresh fruit freeze drinks! So many different flavors and selections. They uses fresh fruits for their freeze's. We ordered short ribs pho which was served in a huge bowl good for 3! The ribs were so tender. Bulgogi beef with rice, siomai, and coconut shrimps. We had 3 drinks , strawberry kiwi freeze with boba, mango freeze with boba and I forgot to take a pic of avocado freeze. Service to get in the food was pretty fast but after that you have to get their attention to get anything else you need. Space is huge but the good thing we didn't wait that long to get seated. It's a good spot for families since most foods are good for sharing. Parking- we went during marathon so every corner the road was closed so we had to park really far and then walk to chinatown but after the marathon they opened the street and they have a huge parking space.

Joy Yee Plus in Chinatown is a great spot if you're looking for refreshing drinks and lots of variety. I especially enjoy their cold teas, which are consistently refreshing and perfect when you want something light. They also offer a wide range of smoothies and sundaes,so there's plenty to choose from depending on your mood. I've tried their waffle ice cream once, but it wasn't really my favorite compared to their drinks. One standout for me is the taro flavor it's the closest thing to ube that I can get, and I really enjoy that familiar, slightly sweet taste. Overall, Joy Yee Plus is a solid choice in Chinatown, especially if you're going for drinks rather than desserts.

Going during the day is the best time to go. It can get very crowded and busy. There are 2 kiosk stations and they take orders at the register. The drinks have options of the amount of sugar. The lowest is 30%. The staff is a young group. They aren't friendly even if you say hello. There are tables to sit at but it's not good for big groups. Not sure if you can call in your orders. Don't forget a straw. They have it next to the pickup area. The kids at the register do not check on the ink or tape on the register. I could barely read my register. The drinks are good and we still get the same each time and sometimes we try something new. Strawberry Lychee smoothie, mango lychee and coffee milk tea are the regulars. Recently tried the 2 lovers which is coffee&tea with boba. We also like the mango sago with pomelo. Only 1 size for their drinks!!! Tipping is optional and there is no surcharge on cc.

The kiddos couldn't walk past this cafe without ordering a drink. There's 2 locations that sells bubble tea, the walk up and the actual store. We went to the store, you can order on the kiosk otherwise there's someone at the counter who will help you. Small cafe but has tables and chairs for dine in. Which was perfect because some of the kids ordered the bubble waffle with ice cream. The large size bubble tea were bottles, which was perfect. We can reuse for other beverage.

So the funny thing is that as often as I visit China Town, I never walk the entire strip. I usually head right to Joyee. This time, I walked and ran into their other location, Joyee Plus. They sell Korean ice cream and shaved iced, along with milk tees. I love the Taro Milk tea and smoothies, so I tried the Taro ice cream with Boba. Delicious! The drink was some kind of fruit tea slush.

What a fun stop! I almost wished I wasn't as stuffed as I was. I really wanted to try the ice cream. Drinks were served In fun, sturdy tumblers that refilled nicely. Large size for the price. Always appreciated. Delicious to boot. Order from the kiosk exactly as you wish, with plenty of ideas to help you pick from. Very clean with friendly employees.

Ask the Community - Joy Yee Plus

Does Joy Yee or Joy Yee Plus use dairy in their fruit smoothies? I'm lactose intolerant, but I know some boba places (vivi bubble tea) use a dairy free creamer for their teas.

Hello! I’m pretty sure some of the drinks use coconut milk and juices vs dairy and thought the smoothies used a non-dairy product but I’d just ask to make sure once you’re there :)

Are there any vegan options at Joy Yee?

Yes. There are several vegetable, noodle and tofu options. The iced drinks come as fruit smoothies without milk.

My two friends and I ordered the Korean fried chicken baos, two rolls of sushi (Panda Roll and Sake to Me), and Pad Thai to share. The Korean fried chicken baos were my favorite dish. The crispy chicken was glazed in a sweet and flavorful sauce, and each bao was also stuffed with fresh veggies that provided additional crunch. My favorite sushi roll was the Panda Roll because it included shrimp tempura and was drizzled with a combo of sweet and spicy sauces. The Sake to Me roll was also good, but I could have used some soy sauce to mix with the wasabi for additional flavor. The pad Thai had solid flavor, and I appreciated how it did not skimp on the protein. While I thought it would be jarring to consume such a wide variety of cuisines in a single meal, it was actually fun to share and try a little bit of everything.

A little more airflow or a different seating arrangement would have made the experience much more enjoyable. That said, the quality of the food and drinks made up for it, and I would still return to try more items on the menu.

The food was completely underwhelming, and when we shared our concerns with the staff, nothing was done to address them. The service was equally disappointing. Our server spent much of the time sitting on her phone while we waited for basic service like water refills, being asked about drinks, and receiving the drinks we ordered. We repeatedly had to get up and find someone just to receive attention. As for the food, the gyoza was bland and tasted like unseasoned pork. The lemongrass beef stew curry, which was highly recommended, arrived cold, had an odd texture, and lacked any real flavor. Most shocking of all were the drunken noodles. I've ordered them countless times over the years and always considered them among the best in Chicago. This time, I couldn't get past a single bite. Every dish was left unfinished. We didn't finish a single plate and didn't take any leftovers home--something that never happens for us. Between the poor service and incredibly disappointing food, this was an awful dining experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, after being a longtime customer, I won't be returning.

The waitress was so nice and I was able to put in an order for a Highball and Pork Okonomiyaki very fast. Sipping on a Highball while watching the food cooking up in the kitchen captured the exact vibe I missed from Japan. The Pork Okonomiyaki was unreal! A taste and quality I never thought I would be able to get back home. Sweet, Savory, Umami, all the flavors that make them so addictive. I can't wait to return and bring friends. They have Hiroshima style with the yakisoba which I also miss from my travels there. We are going to have to order multiple of everything. & MUST try their donuts, they look dangerously good.

Everything is cooked before arriving, so grills are for keeping yakis warm and crispy. They had a…read morespecial Mexican inspired okonomiyaki when we visited that fell flat on flavor. The matcha kakkigori also wasn't shaved fine enough to keep the ice from melting into Hawaiian style shaved ice. The Osaka style beef and traditional Hiroshima style yaki saved the meal enough to enjoy ourselves though, and were very flavorful. The restaurant itself is tucked right behind Morgan station but is so much bigger inside. The furniture and even dishware also felt like they were picked very intentionally to complement the grilling plates. The layout of the restaurant means it can be great for really any kind of occasion or group size.
