I've been a loyal Joy Time customer for years but no longer. I opted for a wax service and in addition to the wax I got a wicked staph infection. I will NEVER go back. It was an MRSA infection so in addition to being generally uncomfortable, you get the added freak-out of having it be antibiotic resistant. So, my $20 wax cost me 3 doctor co-pays, 2 prescription co-pays and two personal/sick days at work. Do not go there. They're nice folks and I don't wish ill on anyone but I also know that I got staph there. read more

I got a mani/pedi at Joy Time Nail during World Cup season. I wanted to "represent" my favorite soccer team by painting my nails with their jersey colors. Simple, right? Not at Joy Time Nail. o_o A young girl "took care" of me there.. completely messed up my look and made fun of me for wanting such "strange" colors. Since she didn't know what she was doing, I had to go for whatever she was capable of doing. I was so disappointed. An older, sour looking woman talked about me in her language (Pointing and laughing makes me think she was talking about me. It was pretty obvious.) I felt so uncomfortable that I couldn't relax at all and I left feeling more stressed. Totally unacceptable. They also constantly remind you that everything you want costs "extra" and they will make you pay for your service in the middle of it, instead of waiting until the very end. They advertise mani/pedi for $32 but I ended up paying a lot more due to my "strange" request, which I didn't even get anyway. Although this place is near me, I prefer to drive miles out of my way for great service. Thanks, but no thanks. =) read more

This place is the absolute WORST nail job I have ever gotten. I got the Nexgen and through the whole process I had to keep asking the lady if she had ever done nails before because she did not know what she was doing. Not only did my nails come out crooked, uneven, bumpy... But when I asked them to fix it they ended up even worse. They tried to send me home with nail glue all over my hands and nails that were completely messy (I took pictures). Finally the only option was to take the nails off and they sent me out of the salon with my nails wrapped in foil, making me go to another salon and have to pay the new salon to take them off for me. I went twice because it was close to my work. I was impressed at first but then within a few days my nails started lifting. The 2nd time they started lifting the same day! I was leaving for vacation so I couldn't get them fixed. They ended up chipping and breaking off over the next 10 days which ruined my real nails. This was the beginning of June and my nails are still recovering. I am hoping by next week they'll be strong enough to start getting them done again but not here. read more

I've been coming here with my mom since I was 4 (I am now 18) and I've always been happy coming here. I've always gotten pedicures and started doing Nexgen with Naomi for a couple years now and she does a fabulous job! They take extra care to make sure their facilities are super sanitary and the tools are always sterilized. Great service and great experience overall! BETH (one of the owners) is fabulous! She does my dipping powder nails (cannot remember what they are called) and is a perfectionist. My nails are perfectly shaped and all nails are exactly the same length. I am sorry to hear some of the negative reviews here. But, I have been going here for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! My dear mom, God rest her soul, went there for 7 years to Beth and had the same great experience that I did. I cannot rave about Joy Time Nails enough. I am 23 years old and have been coming here since I was in elementary school. I live in the surrounding neighborhoods so it was always convenient for me. Anytime we had family in from out of town or friends we would bring them here with us and they always rave about them. I typically go to Naomi, but am happy with whoever I get. I have done my crazy pedicures in my day, shellac, pink and white, colored power, you name it and they will do it exactly how I like. Even if they start and I don't like the color, they have no problem if I ask them if we can start over (I am indecisive sometimes) I have tried many other nail salons in Dallas/Plano and the price also doesn't even compare. You really get your money's worth here and I am always satisfied and happy whenever I leave. I went to college in Lubbock and would actually wait to get my fills done for when I could come home from school to come to Joy Time Nails. After graduation I moved to Houston and having tried salons in Houston and I am still loyal to them, I wait to come home to Joy Time to get them done! I have become so close with the staff as they have with me, they know by name and it seems everyone who comes in they know by name as well. It's not hard to make a connection to their relationship with their customers around Christmas time as their back wall is filled with family Christmas cards sent to them. I have been going to Beth at Joy Time for about 7 years. I love this place! Every time you walk in they are happy to squeeze you in, even if it's last minute. My gel nails always come out great, and last for about 2 weeks. I'm a hairdresser, and my nails are constantly underwater and getting color on them, and for them to last that long means they're high quality! Prices are great too, and I never feel like they are talking bad about me or anyone in the shop. Also, every tip is always appreciated, even if it's only a few dollars. The best! read more

My review is only based on pedicures. It is an in and out place with no thrills. You MUST bring your flip flops because if you forget you will be walking barefoot to your car. There is only one level of pedicure service, but does the job when I don't want to spend a lot of money. Their instruments come in the sterilized bag, they are gentle with my feet, they have been nice the few times I have been there. They are always busy. I do not think I would do my Nexgen nails based on what I have seen, there. read more

I have been going to Joy Times Nails for over 10 years. Kevin does a great job on my manicures. I have done several kinds of manicures and all have been very professional and lasted well. Beth has done my pedicures as well as my husbands and we both are very pleased with her work. We both have ingrown nails and many callouses which she takes great care of. So, the place is ok on the inside, nothing fancy, no free wine and all that but I have been going to Joy Time for a solid 9 years and it is awesome...the prices are seriously the best in town, $21 for a spa pedicure (sea salt scrub, hot towles, leg massage, etc) and only $27 for shilac manicures...that is unheard off. These people are super sweet and always remember their regulars. I have gotten pedis at multiple places and paid $40+ and a week afterwards the nails will start chipping. Joy Time is the only place i have been to that continuously stays for up to a month...you have to use OPI polish though. Got my parents hooked as well. They drive from Rockwall to get their nails done here! I 100% reccommend this place to anyone wanting to keep their nails looking great and not wanting to break the bank:) read more
