I recently purchased a refurbished Dell, from Office Depot. It was fulfilled by Joy Systems and so far, I couldn't be more happy. The computer arrived two days earlier than expected. This computer looks spotless. As I pulled out the computer, the papers said to look for an activation guide, etc. They were nowhere to be found. I ordered my Computer from Best Buy who sub contracted out to Joy systems. Right off the bat there were problems. First off Windows didn't act right on start up I had to do a reset on windows just to get it to work. Second the Virus protection they put on the computer acts like a Virus and is very hard to remove from the computer. All the problems I was experiencing after Windows was reset all seemed to magically go away with the virus protection they put on here. My mouse started to work consistently, My computer stopped turning itself off or just going blank black screened randomly. All my problems disappeared when I got rid of the virus protection they gave me on this machine. It was a Virus protection that I and all around me had never heard of. I'm not sure I'd buy another computer from this company. I'm just lucky I knew enough about computers to know how to fix my issues and what I didn't know my best friend did as I didn't by the service warranty. I purchased a Dell - Precision Mobile Workstation 17.3" Refurbished Laptop through Best Buy. The refurbishment was completed by Joy Systems. It came nice and clean and worked well... for about 9 months. Then when encountering issues, Joy Systems says its out of warranty and provides no support. Best Buy won't provide any support. Only option is to go back to Dell for extended warranty purchase. Might consider that as an additional cost to buying a refurbished system! read more

Bought a refurbished laptop from Newegg, supposedly "Sold by and ships from Newegg". Bzzzt. The laptop arrived shipped by this place. The laptop arrived with the wrong screen resolution, and Newegg washed their hands of the matter, telling me to take it up with Joy. No refunds. The technical support at Joy told me in broken English that the screen resolution setting was a driver issue and implied that I was a moron for asking about an exchange or refund. (Ever watched "Silicon Valley"? Jian Yang? I know who inspired the character.) Anyway, it looks like Newegg dropped the ball. Joy Systems certainly dropped the ball, and I'm out $300 because even Amex doesn't want anymore to do with this transaction. I purchased a refurbished laptop from Micro Center yesterday, however when I got it home there was some hardware missing. I returned back to Micro Center in an attempt to exchange the laptop, however I was told it was fix after a few moments of a rep walking to the back. At that point I refused the laptop and asked for a store credit to obtain another "gently used" laptop. I'm currently working from that laptop right now...so, so far, everything is good. About 1 month after writing my initial review, I began experiencing a "previous fan failure" error message each time the computer would boot. I reached out to Joy Systems to request help with this error and was ignored for more than a month. My computer became more and more unstable and then completely died (hard drive not functioning properly and then completely stopped booting at all). Once I followed up with them again, they replied saying they would send me a shipping label the next business day. After four days, I followed up with them as I had not received a shipping label. They finally emailed me a shipping label and also said they would send me a box so that I could safely ship my computer to them for servicing. They even provided a tracking number for the shipping box but it's been two weeks now and the status still says "Your packages is on its way to a USPS facility" meaning they haven't even dropped off the box to the post office yet. Within 6 weeks of purchasing this 'refurbished' computer, it began having problems and is now completely non-functional. It's been more than 2 weeks that I have been without a working computer. Purchased a laptop from Best Buy and it actually arrived early. I am not displeased with what I received as it contained a CD drive, which I did not expect. Unfortunately I found that the headphone jack did not work. Over the course of two days I spent more than 12 hours on hold for customer service, being dropped a couple of times, and maybe hung up on once. I won't even go into the "music and announcements" on hold. Count down from 180 minutes to 1, then back up to whatever? Get down to next in line and get dumped? When I finally reached someone, he answered my questions readily, but when it came to the headphone jack he had me uninstall the audio driver and install the "correct" one. It appeared to be the same, and did not work. I suspect it is a faulty jack or connection to said jack. Long story short, I was told that I would be sent a return label soon. That was almost a week ago, and have heard nothing. I do not wish to be without a computer, but have transferred all files, upgraded software, etc., and now apparently have to go through it again? Needless to say, I am not happy. 12+ hours on hold only to be told I will have to return it? Seems as though QC should have picked up the non-operative headphone jack. read more

Got a refurbed HP 840 from them through Groupon, which was an amazing deal. The set up didn't go 100% smooth but with their help it was fine. I've had it for about 3 months now. Randomly the mousepad stopped working and started working again, battery life is a little short, and the fingerprint scanner had to be uninstalled and re-installed. Hello, I recently purchased a Dell laptop from Joy Systems. This particular Dell laptop was listed on the Joy Systems website as having 8MB RAM and a 256GB hard drive. --------------- Imagine my surprise that the Dell laptop I received only had 4MB RAM and a 128GB hard drive. --------------- I purchased this particular laptop for my school age son to do remote learning based on the information I was provided on the Joy Systems website. The need for this particular laptop was immediate. --------------- So I contacted Joy Systems about my issue with their product and spoke with Emmanuel. After asking him if this particular Dell laptop was upgradeable (in the hopes of having Joy Systems just ship me another 4MB RAM chip and a correct size hard drive and I would simply upgrade the laptop) and being told that this model is not upgradeable. Emmanuel then provided me with a couple options to remedy their error. All the options involved shipping of laptops, which is not an option in my particular case because my son would be without a computer. Plus the fact the original laptop had already been setup for my son to start using immediately. Re-setting up a 2nd laptop isn't a viable option either. --------------- I explained to Emmanuel that my son required a laptop for school immediately and there isn't an option for him to be without a laptop at this time. I then ask Emmanuel if there wasn't some way to perhaps get a portion of my purchase price credited back to my credit card to off set the lack of RAM and SSD storage on my Dell laptop. I asked if there was a manager to speak with and I was told no one was in at that time. Shockingly Incompetent, not sure how they maintain being a authorized Microsoft refurbisher. Though I intend to find out. I bought a computer from them through Office Depot. They shipped the computer, the computer out of the box would start up but that's about it. It would crash very often without me even putting any software on it. I contacted Office depot who then in turn contacted Joy Systems. Joy systems contacted me more than a week ago saying that they were sending out a replacement hard drive. sent me the incorrect tracking number, then sent me a different tracking number which also turned out to be incorrect. Called them today took 20 minutes to find out that there is a different tracking number and it was only sent out yesterday. I ordered a refurbish laptop from Walmart, and HP Elite book and it was delivered from Joy Systems. It arrived fast and the wrapping was beautiful, bubble wrapped and all. Also had documentation for Windows activation and numbers for customer support. The machine was in great cosmetic shape, but the instructions to activate windows were not accurate. I am not a technician so I needed step by step accurate instructions, but unfortunately I wasn't able to activate it with the instructions provided. Called customer service, on hold for more than 30 minutes... very upsetting. The recording gave me the option to leave a message so they could call me back, but they never did. I googled articles to help myself with this and finally found some videos with tutorials that indeed helped me. I tried different options and ended having to reinstall Windows. That seemed to work fine, but since I am not an expert, didn't feel too confident about this quick fix. I ordered two more laptops, also from Walmart and also HPs, to see if maybe they would be better. They also came from Joy Systems. Exactly same deal, wrapped beautifully, but both of them with software issues. I did the same thing, had to reinstall windows in order for the laptops to work. Very stressful. I ended up returning the last two, one because it had lots of exterior damage, the other because it had screen issues... I don't know how to explain it... but the colors came on and off randomly... definitely something not right. I ended keeping the very first laptop because it is the one that works best, but now, after a month, I am starting to have issues with the touchpad, so I don't know what to do. The price was excellent, and the laptop is really nice, but I am not feeling too confident about keeping it. It is very sad their customer service was so unhelpful, because that could have made me feel more confident about them. I feel like they don't even care... Maybe I had been more knowledgeable about systems I could have fixed these issues without stressing out, after all the machine is nice and the price is great, but I am not, and I wish the instructions they sent were more accurate so I wouldn't have had to go online looking for help. If I end up returning this one too, I might give the refurbished machines one more chance because the way technology is now a days, it's not worth it to invest big $$ in something new that will be obsolete in a couple of months, but I don't think I will buy from Joy Systems again. I hate to give a negative review after such a short period, but literally just finished the 2nd day of usage and i am already having constant issues with freezing(requiring hard reset each time) and the touch mouse pad is sticking. I certainly question this company's QC after reading numerous reviews with similar issues on day 1/out of the box. This is unacceptable, even for a refurb and especially in the $500 range. read more

I purchased a Joy Systems refurbished laptop computers for business thru Walmart.com and everything was perfect except the keyboard came with an extra #4 key and all keys after that one were one space to the right of where they should be. Spoke to a friendly customer service rep who joked that I lived along her route to work and she could toss one to me as she passed. I purchased a refurbished Dell E6430 laptop. I would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between this and a new laptop... I see no scratches or dents, and it even has that new laptop smell! Windows 10 activation was painless, and I love that the computer did not come with any pre-loaded bloatware- just plain Windows 10, with all the necessary drivers. I bought a refurbished laptop from Joy through Walmart.com. I was delighted to see that the laptop was shipped in only 2-3 days. But that is where my trouble began. After receiving the laptop, I quickly found that the laptop would not fully start up. It would ask me for my location and product key, then it would restart and do the same again. I called Joy's tech support line and they said they would send me the recovery software (which is not what I wanted to hear, how could you send me something that didn't work?). It took almost a week for the disk to arrive (I don't understand why he did not send overnight). Then I realized he sent me a disk and the laptop does not have a disk drive (he needed to send a flash drive). As you can imagine, I'm not impressed by Joy with these events. I plan to return this piece of junk to Walmart and complain about the idiots who sent it. read more
