I helped my 75 yr old mother on limited income purchase a refurbished laptop from this company. I did a good bit of research online trying to find her a good deal, since this is a big investment for her (even though it was "only" $400). I scoured Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and a few other online sellers. I found joy systems, and from what I was able to determine, they seemed reputable. I figured with the extended warranty and 30 day return window, it should be ok. First issue: I wanted to talk to an actual person to verify that there would be no restocking fee if she had to return it within the 30 day return window, and that there WAS a 30 day window for that particular item. I couldn't get anyone on the phone. It says to contact them online. Their chat function is a joke: You will wait for literal days before they finally email you telling you to contact them via email. Second issue: once I placed the order, the order sat untouched in their customer portal until I reached out and asked them when it was going to be shipped (the shipping window indicated on their listings had passed with no updates). Then they replied saying it was going to be shipped soon, and then I got a tracking update. Who knows how long it would have taken if I had just waited on them. Third issue: the item arrived WITH THE WRONG CHARGER. If you have not dealt with the drama of finding a suitable charger lately, I'll tell you that it's a full time job trying to find the right charger for a device due to all the different fittings available, so we were at their mercy for getting a correct charger. I contacted them right away to let them know they'd packed the wrong one and insisted they expedite the correct one so that she wouldn't lose too much time from her 30 day return window. The laptop only stayed on for a few hours that first day, long enough for me to put my mom's personal documents from her old computer on there. This, of course, meant that if we needed to return it, we'd have to wipe that info first. DAWN replied to the email about the charger pretty quickly, and even provided a tracking # for the replacement charger. It was not sent priority mail, though. It was only regular mail. And I watched that tracking number for 2 weeks. The entire time, USPS never received the charger from Joy Systems. I emailed and called them multiple times. Each time, they gave me a new excuse for why USPS was saying the item had never been dropped off to them. Finally, they agreed to send a 2nd correct charger and actually expedite it this time. That tracking ALSO sat with no updates for several days. And wouldn't you know? BOTH chargers were finally brought to USPS on the SAME DAY. They both arrived to us on the same day. They lied the whole time. And the whole time fighting with them about not having mailed the charger and losing valuable time from the 30 day window, I knew that we couldn't even return the laptop if we wanted to, because her info was already on it, and I couldn't delete anything until I had a charger!! And as many times as I begged them to find the ACTUAL PERSON who had supposedly taken the charger to the post office, they refused to do any digging to find out the truth. So my mom lost 17 days of the 30 day review period because of this company's incompetence. A reputable company would have extended her return window to allow for their mistake, but Dawn said that was impossible. Why? Joy Systems makes their own policies; they can adjust them to make things right with their customers! The icing on the cake? I used my cell number for my mom's account so they'd contact me if there were any issues. And this company obviously sold my phone number to spammers, because I have not made any new accounts or purchases involving my phone number in this time frame, and as soon as we set up this account for this order, I started getting bombarded with spam texts. And it's all stuff to do with fake technology & software warnings, just like you'd expect from a sketchy business in the tech industry. Don't do business with these people. read more

So far, I have used this computer about a month since buying it Last August and the computer died 3 weeks later. I bought it through Best Buy, but when I went for service, they said I had to send it to Joy Systems. We have been traveling since August and when I got to Quartzsite, I had no address and they sent it twice by FedEx and the post office would not accept it. I had a general delivery address. The first of January, I was able to get an address and they sent me a box. I returned the computer the middle of January and received back in February. I loaded a video editing program and 30 gigs of video. A week later, the computer would not boot up. I called and they had me take the battery and RAM out because the flashing lights pointed to that. I asked if I could keep the SSD and he said yes. I took it out and reinstalled it. The computer booted up. Before I could get memory to back up my files, the laptop died. I tried the battery, RAM, and SSD, but nothing worked. I took out the SSD and ordered an adapter to USB. I could not view my files. Today, they received my computer and I sent the SSD two day delivery. It cost $16.00 to mail. I now have 4 trips to town, the drive to Best Buy, postage, and cost to print the label twice at the library. That is a lot of money for using a computer 1 month out of 8. No one has yet apologized for my experience. I am stuck here until they return it and the temps are going to bee in the 100s. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. The staff embody every stereotype about tech industry people of having no really communication skills or depth. My experience has been not fee valued as a customer and as a result, I'll NEVER use them again for anything. Early this month I bought a Dell laptop from Best Buy (it was refurbished by Joy Systems). On 7/8/25 I go to Best Buy to pick up the device. Later that night I attempt to set it up and I'm unable because I'm getting an error message that the computer needs to shut down! This happened 4x. So I call Joy Systems and the first person I spoke to stated that my issue sounded common and may be related to update issue. Really? Why send out the computer if it's not ready to use?! He didn't help me through it, only saying that he could send a usb with an update in it. I call again later and get another tech, she also was no help, I read off what the screen said and she had no clue. Then she tells me that the first rep didn't collect the info that he was supposed to from me! I was told that the usb was coming regular postal mail! Really? A label was made for it on 7/9 and I didn't get it until 7/17 or 7/18! By 7/15 I leave a negative review online and I'm sent a UPS ground label to send the computer back. I sent the computer back to Joy Systems the same day. I'm given a $30 gift card and was told it was for my "inconvenience" but it wasn't. When you fill out the review and provide a screen shot of it (like the company directs you to do on their website), you're supposed to get the gift card. I paid over $500 for this DUD of a machine! Not worth it, go elsewhere. 7/18 I see they received the computer back, I ask them to update me and they said yea we'll get to you Monday 7/21. They never did! Then I get a UPS notification that something was coming from Joy Systems to arrive on 7/24. So I contact Joy Systems to inquire (7/22/25) about what the real issue was with the device. I'm told that it was replaced. Ok, but why? What was going on with it? No answer, as if I didn't ask a thing! The tech was using an acronym I didn't know, I asked what it meant, again no answer. Their lack of communication is unbelievable if you're not in the present moment experiencing it. Emails were from so called tech support was chuck full of grammar mistakes and misspellings. All that on top of PISS POOR communicatio, simply outrageous! So I don't know what the issue was, I don't know what type of laptop is coming, I don't know what to expect period! Never spend your hard earned money on a system from Joy Systems. Spend where your valued and appreciated as a customer. read more

The battery cover on the bottom is a little bent so that it doesn't click on all the way, but it's still secure and functional. I ordered a refurbished HP EliteDesk computer through Staples. They sent the computer, but they also sent a DELL power cord. It obviously does not fit. I reached out to Staples - they sent me through to Joy Systems. Joy Systems is asking for the computer serial number in order to "advise me on how to proceed." I do not have the serial number, as I am not at home. When I get home, it will be past normal business hours, which further delays resolving this problem. I sent them the order number from Staples. They refuse to work with me. I must go home and get the Joy Systems Serial Number for the computer before they will acknowledge that my order is missing the power adapter. I am frustrated that this continues to delay my ability to even use the computer I purchased. This is day 2 of trying to resolve this problem. Tomorrow will be day 3. I just need the power adapter for the HP EliteDesk. You have my original staples order. Why can't you help me? read more

This is a mixed review. Their customer service through the phone is a flat ZERO stars. Their performance with handling a warranty issue,... remains to be seen. The performance of one person, Shaun, is a full 5-stars. JS should feel graced and lucky to have a Rep on board. I first called JS because my computer didn't have Office installed and I wanted to confirm the software specs. So I called their service # (this happened a few weeks ago on a Friday) and I was caller #21 and it was about 1pm. I $hit you not, I was on hold for 5 hours, FIVE HOURS and I made it down to caller #17. I have no idea (unless nobody was at the phones) how you get down from 21 to 17 in five hours. I left the house and came back more than once to hear my phone still on musical hold. So I obviously got nowhere on that call. I emailed, telling about the horrible experience. One of their reps, Shaun, did get back to me, got back to me promptly, he even called me back. So he was able to get me the specs to my computer and it did specify clearly what was supposed be on there (unfortunately Office was not, so that answered that). Forward a couple weeks when I'm installing drivers so my computer can work with my printer. It came with a CD,,... hmmm.. the drive doesn't seem to be able to read the CD. The drive opened when I clicked on it, it seemed to start/run properly, but after about 35-40 seconds, it is still reading the disc. 5 minutes later, it is still reading the disc. I pop in a different disc,.. Hmmm, still reading that one... I think there's an issue with the drive? I call up Tiger Direct, who then transfer me to JS. Recalling how my last phone call went, I am not staying 5 hours. Me thinks I'll email Shaun instead. Not only does he respond within 20 minutes (and I'm still on hold with JS), he prepared a shipping label to send the computer back. Whoa! Now that is service. So I'm about to send the computer back, so we'll see how their servicing is. read more

Bought a Pre Owned HP EliteDesk Desktop Intel Core i5 8GB Memory 500GB Hard Drive thru Best Buy. The tower arrived broken, the side panel (door) wasn't lined up right. The front panel was halfway loose since the tabs were broken. The plate where the cd/dvd drive would go was also loose. I opened the side door and noticed that besides tabs, it was dirty inside (dust bunnies and even the fans had dirt accumulated). I recently bought an HP Elitebook 840 G5, refurbished, from Joy Systems, thru Staples. There are numerous things wrong with it, but by now, it's past the 14 day from purchase cutoff (though I see in the paperwork, I have a year's warranty). I took it to Staples, and they were zero help. They told me everything was working fine, but it isn't. Mostly, I am having problems with the F3/F4 brightness keys (possibly an HP issue), also the function key, also, the power adapter. Staples guy told me power adapter was fine, but when I got it home again, I couldn't get it to charge. I have since ordered another adapter. OK, I guess I can live with a lemon computer, so long as the basic things work, but it is disappointing. I will never buy refurbished again, or if so, will go thru Microcenter, or some other place (I usually go thru Microcenter, but when I was there, their stock was very low). I have only partially been able to fix the HP Hotkey/brightness keys not working problem on my own (at least I don't get the annoying popups, now). Sometimes the brightness keys work, sometimes they don't (but before, they didn't work at all, with popups). Very glitchy machine. read more

In order to avoid their 3% Credit Card Fee, I sent them a Cashier's Check. One would have thought that with guaranteed funds they would have shipped the computer out... Nope! had to wait for a Cashier's Check to clear. About two weeks after I put the order in, I get the computer and I am generally pleased with what I got. Some things that could be better. 1. Your payment process. 2. How about a real Dell Power Adapter not the Replacement one that I got? Knockoff. 3. OS Restore media should have been included. Purchased a refurbished computer and the items listed as included was inaccurate. I was specifically looking for a computer that included wireless and an hdmi connection for my monitor. Both were listed but the computer had neither. I would have never purchased this computer had those items been accurately shown to not be included. So once my computer arrived I had to go and purchase a VGA to VGA cable for my monitor and a wireless adapter for internet. This being a refurbished unit, I was skeptical that the performance was not going to be great...but was surprised to see that this micro dell was super fast! Though my only gripe was that the housing had a sticker for an i5 processor but in fact I purchased an i7.. So far, so good.. I purchased an HP ProBook 640 G1 refurbished through Walmart.com.. I paid a little less than $300 for a computer with great specs. . (2.6ghz I5 , 8gb ram, and 128 SSD) I'm leery of HP's but this was a good cheap buy for what I needed it for.. and like I started with, "so far, so good.". I really need to do some video editing on this to try a few things.. I can tell you with the SSD it boots up insanely fast.. I was surprised.. I had no issues with setting it up... All the updates took forever, but that happens with almost anything you by electronic nowadays... On the bad side of things, the aluminum by the keyboard was bent up by the power button so the laptop had some issues fully closing.. I pressed it down a little , but still is quite noticeable... No software or hardware issues though... As of now I would recommend this company... But we will se the longevity I can get out of this... read more

Both systems received from Joy Systems were faulty out of the box. Both had "disk read error" occurred on boot. And wouldn't boot after restarting. Had to get our IT guy to come to show us a work around. And even then... blue screens often. Their support has been lacking or unresponsive. :( read more

I've separately bought 3 reconditioned laptops from this company through their Amazon storefront. The first one was fine but the other 2 were defective. Not only were they defective, but they had faults that would have been easy to find by any competent Quality Assurance department - one had speakers that didn't work and the other had a screen that was so badly misaligned that blank triangular patches were visible on all sides - see attached photo. I was particularly disappointed that, after the first defective laptop and asking them to be sure that the replacement worked, that the replacement was also defective. The customer service department was helpful in getting the defective laptops shipped back at their expense and issuing a refund. But based on the number of negative reviews here describing units that were either dead on arrival or had other obvious faults, their QA Department has a lot of problems. Based on my history of receiving 2 out of 3 laptops that had defects that should have been easily noticed before shipping, I would not recommend this company. read more

Bought a computer 2 years ago--a small form factor HP. I sent it back in to Joysystems many times and they replaced the computer due to the internet going out. This was when they had a year warranty. They don't anymore and I suspect it's because if the bad condition of their computers. I believe they absolutely know these computers are garbage AND SELL them ANYWAY! I finally started taking it to a tech here where I live and he told me to scrap it that it was junk, but I wanted to get some use out of it.Well...the motherboard went completely out after 2 years. I have always bought refurbished computers and this is the worst ever. I think these are just scrap garbage parts, like what you'd get from a junk yard for computers. I just received my HP 820 EliteBook refurbished laptop that I bought from Best Buy and have been using it for a week. The computer is in immaculate condition....it looks brand new, literally not one scratch. Everything is speedy and works perfectly. Honestly I expected "refurbished" condition, for only $300, but i am pleasantly surprised that it looks brand new considering I got a generation 5 Intel i5 chip, a 500GB solid state drive and 8GB of ram, all in a 12.5 inch laptop. Now, there is no HDMI port, so I have to buy a $5 adapter that connects to the Display port, but a bit of obsolescence is understandable considering the price. Usually do not add warranty but for under $10 I did. Great communication and a good chromebook. Chromebooks are great if you do not print. If you try to print with a noncompatiable printer to the google cloud it is a real challenge, but can be done. read more
