I really like the vibe here and the place is quite clean. They are available during convenient hours and I appreciate that a lot because I prefer late evening time slots. If you would prefer a female masseuse then you'll need to call ahead and confirm the timing for the appointment. If you walk in, they are still usually pretty well staffed with male staff. Twenty-five dollars for an hour-long foot and back massage...Too good to be true?? Uh huh, I sure thought so too until I paid a visit! When you walk in the strip mall shop, you are surrounded by dim mood lighting, trickling water fountains, and hanging paper lanterns. The shop is very clean debunking my original concern that came to mind regarding having my feet bathed in a cheap massage salon. Each of the bamboo soaking bins has a disposable plastic liner that is changed with each client. Per all the Yelp reviews, I called ahead and requested Harry as my massage therapist. I was walked back by him to a cushioned leather chair slash massage table and handed a card menu with options. #1: Hour of feet/back was my choice. He used his hands like mallets, knuckles like rolling pins and fingers like pinchers to crack my toes. Harry utilized aspects of foot reflexology and detox involving various pressure points. The foot massage was performed with lotion and steam towels. He then moved to both arms, legs, buttocks and the nape of the neck. Harry rubbed me in places my partner never has---he was not shy but I was not complaining. The neck and back massage was very rough and hard which I prefer. I have experienced many massages, including very expensive ones, and this was one of the best and most reasonable. I will definitely be back, particularly for a full back/neck massage. I've been reviewing "foot massage" places for a while now and finally went in today. I was nervous after reading many reviews about how painful massages were at these chinese massage parlors due to the language barriers (not being able to communicate "softer" with the staff?). When my masseuse asked me right off the bat "you like soft?" I was able to relax a bit. Don't get me wrong, "soft" still means deep tissue massage, but it wasn't painful. Okay, now to the actual massage. I don't know why they advertise these as "foot massages" because it is a FULL BODY massage. One hour of massage for $25!!! (plus tip). After he massaged my back for a bit (while my feet soaked comfortably in a hot tub of tea) and then worked on my feet for a while, I thought it was over. Then he started on my thighs (which I never really got massaged before and realized was a tickle spot..AWKWARD!). Then more arm work AND then flip over and full back/upper back/shoulder massage!!! He worked the crap out of my upper back/shoulder area which is always my problem area. Awesome. As far as the salon facilities, it was really nice. Simple, non-tacky design. Dim lighting, but not creepy. Relaxing music. One big room of massage chairs. They were huge and comfy and clean/new looking. There were only like 2 other people there, so it wasn't crowded...I didn't have to wait. You can hear some snoring and other massage noises pretty clearly. There were also more private rooms in the back for full body massage options (which aren't they all full body massages???). Anywayyy... Great massage. Great price. Nice staff. Nice place. read more

My first visit was kind of awkward but the massage was perfect. The second visit was very nice. Friendly faces greeted me and waved me goodbye as I left. I got a 60 minute Swedish massage and it was wonderful. Pros: 1) Rooms have weighted magnetic curtains that are very private, and there is a cute lotus light above the bed along with leaves above it as nice decor. 2) Employees are very nice and courteous. Good hospitality. 3) Masseuse was very good at asking if I was doing okay. Cons: 1) my first visit was uncomfortable because no one that worked there was communicating with me about what I wanted. I pointed to the service I chose and they took me back. Not a single conversation. The massage was great but I didn't hear a single word. Language barrier most likely. 2) my second visit there was a few things that I didn't favor. One was the washer and dryer making noise over the meditation music, the second was the massage oil left on my neck and upper back. She either forgot or didn't know she was supposed to put the hot towel on it. In conclusion my experience was not divine and flawless but they did what I wanted and I was pleased. The first time may have been slightly more uncomfortable because of the language barrier, but the massage was the best I've had. The second time the massage was not as good because the sweet girl that did my massage was new, but the service and communication from the workers was beyond what I was expecting. My girl friend and I stopped here after a day of remodeling her house. Our bodies ached! They were able take both of us at the same time right away. We walked in and the place was super clean!! The chairs all had clean linens on them. The floor and bathroom were very clean. Employees were very kind. During the massage she checked in a couple times to make sure the pressure was ok. They have a few different combinations of massages available. They are accommodating. The massage package we picked included lots of oil. We requested that they don't use much and they were totally fine with that. Price was very reasonable. They are an only except cash business so make sure you have cash. I go in the private rooms for full body deep tissue, 60 or 90 minutes. Everyone is kind friendly and accommodating and you can't beat the prices!! Beyond reasonable. This is truly my first negative experience here. It's got the best ambiance of any similar business on the eastside, and I've had many positive experiences in the past. However, today we called ahead for an appointment and showed up five minutes before, only to be met with blank stares and hurried conversations. After looking at the reservation schedule, we were put on the phone with the manager, to be told that we could come back in half an hour. Well, we live 20 minutes away, and come specifically for this - not enough time to go home and come back, and nothing nearby to do for half an hour. So... we left. Fairly pissed. I have been scolded before for being 5 minutes late to an appointment, but apparently they can cancel/reschedule with no apology or attempt to make it right? Hm. I will come again, but I doubt I'll make an appointment first. read more

The woman asked me multiple times if the amount of pressure she was giving was too little or too much, which I appreciated. First experience at a Chinese massage parlor: I made an appointment via yelp two days before and they were accommodating even though I had to change my time once. You are fully clothed and in a dimmed common room while getting the massage #2. I wouldn't recommend wearing tight fitted pants because you'd have to roll them up to your knees. They massage your lower legs and feet. They will massage your butt and around the armpit area, but I didn't feel uncomfortable. read more

I have been going to Joy spa once a month this whole year. And This past weekend my mom came to visit me and she does heavy work daily. We got a hot stone foot massage and a Swedish massage. The Masseuse was able to focus on the areas that are stressed and helped my mom relaxed. She did such an incredible job of paying attention to the details and was very thorough. My mom felt so relax and was very satisfied that she came back for a second round before she left. The price is unbeatable, and they do such a great job of making you feel relaxed. LOVE Joy Spa. My husband and I try go every two weeks and have done for several years. Recently they have made several upgrades to the interior and it is really relaxing. I was curious how the experience would be during COVID and was happy to find it is very safe experience while still being relaxing. Temperature checks and masks, limit on number of customers etc. My husband had knee surgery and I have a bad neck and they always check in to see how the pressure is and ask our preferences. You know the story: it's always a double edge sword to recommend a particular person at a particular place, in case they become so popular that it becomes harder to get your own spot reserved--but that's what we do here on yelp. :) Very welcoming spot, in the strip mall next to the tattoo shop. Staff is always very friendly, and some speak at least a fair amount of English. I can't even imagine how hard these folks must work, and I hope everyone is very kind to them! A friend and I met yesterday, the evening before Thanksgiving, so it was unusually slow for 6 pm. We each did Massage # 2--30 minutes of feet and 30 minutes of upper body. Last time I came I lucked out with an awesome massage with Jerry, and I requested him again this evening. He does a great balance of feet and upper body without too much on the legs, which to me is a bigger waste of time. I need those little doggies and back kinks smoothed out! I only have two suggestions to make it even more enjoyable: turn the lights down a little bit lower, especially by the door, and try to establish more of a culture of quiet. The one hour of bliss cost me $36 plus a good tip. I think this is an awesome relatively inexpensive way to do some serious self-care. read more

A very well run, professional, and good value place for massage. I've been a 5 or 6 times over the past year, and have consistently been impressed. As a runner, cyclist, and climber, my body is always sore, so I appreciate that they use firm pressure and cover the entire body (with option #2- 30 minutes foot, 30 minutes body). There is never a need to book ahead, but they do always ask if you called when you arrive, so it doesn't hurt to call 15 minutes beforehand to let them know you are on your way. They recently increased their prices slightly, which seems fair given how good of a value it is. The #2 "chair" option was $38 (cash)/ $40 (credit) when it was, I think, $35 in 2016. I appreciate that no one smokes- I have been elsewhere where the masseuse comes in for a smoke break then proceeds to massage you while reeking of cigarettes (not the case here!). read more

I had been going to Joy spa for over a year and happy with them. I had a regular masseuse who was very good. Today I went and I swear the guy giving me a massage was totally untrained. He pushed hard into bony areas and mostly swept his hands over the muscles. He would dig in hard at small muscles like in my neck and then too soft on large muscles. While it is fairly intimate I enjoyed myself and felt comfortable as a female and customer in this establishment. They have both male and female techniques who are friendly and professional with your comfort as priority. Truly, one of the best massages I have ever had - anywhere. Clean, quiet. I do not like back massages. I prefer reflexology or foot any day of the week. I went in for the 45 min reflexology + 15 min head neck back and got the additional 30 minutes of head neck shoulders. Even with clothes on and a towel, Casey was incredible. I can't say enough great things about Joy Spa! I discovered them when I was 7 months pregnant with twins and my feet were enormous. I went in and got the package where it is half foot massage and half full body massage. They made every accommodation for me knowing that I was pregnant--they were able to tilt up the chairs so I didn't need to lay on my back, they got extra pillows for me, accommodated side laying for the full body portion, etc. I became a loyal fan and went back several times during my pregnancy and going really helped reduce all of the swelling. I also went back more recently and was impressed with their extra steps to make everyone feel comfortable during COVID. I made an appointment and ended up being the only one there in the whole place. I LOVE Joy spa! I have been a massage therapist for over 26 years and this is my favorite place to get a good, deep tissue massage. The pressure of my massage and communication about what I need are always right on point. I take my brother that is blind there, and they always take extra special care of him so that I can also be taken care of too. It's clean and a pretty space, the music is relaxing and it puts you in a zone. I get a massage every 2 or 3 weeks and I missed them dearly during Covid. My husband and I came in to this location last night. I was personally unable to sleep since I was quite sore after my hour with Toni I think it was. We have been to similar spas many times and both of us left the exact opposite of impressed. In my case my experience was very erratic the massage was all over the place and went back-and-forth between being hard or not hard enough. We paid extra for hot stones and the bottom of my left foot is still in pain from having a very hot stone held in place for far too long. My husband paid for this upgrade as well and did not even get the stones. His massage was very light and uncomfortable as well. We didn't say anything at the time since there was both a language barrier and they need to speak quietly in the spa. We also tipped full price as well since we didn't really get to connect on whether it was a positive or negative experience. I was attracted by the $25 MASSAGE SIGN and found a great massage service with an incredible price. Foot reflexology "massage" costs $25 dollars for an HOUR, plus tip. They operate on a first come first served basis and no appointment necessary. I generally go to Joy Spa about once per week and feel totally cured of stress, aches and pains after each massage. They have a much better staff compared to the other Chinese themed massage spas that have popped up around the area. I also like that the Joy spa welcomes credit card for payment and tip. When I first started going to the 25 dollar Chinese massage places, I was clueless about how much to tip because the 15% rule seemed pretty unfair. I typically tip $20 dollars to the massage person because these guys/gals are working hard on me for a whole hour! read more

I've always wondered about these "foot massage" places. I was in need of a back massage badly. After reading Yelp, I narrowed it down to this place. First off, I hate foot massages, so I was a bit hesitant. But when I arrived, I was promptly greeted by this guy. I said, "no foot" and just pointed to my back. He understood and pointed to the 30 back massage for $25 on the menu. Best $25 I've ever spent. I prefer a massage to be on the painful side rather than the soft side. Honestly, it was like the dude read my mind...hit the right places with enough pressure. Also, it was more than the back...it was shoulders, arms, butt, hammies, and calves.
