When this place first opened I chanced upon it and a lady named Ying worked here. She was friendly and gave a decent massage. I also got deep tissue done by a gentleman. He gave the best massage I've ever gotten, really knew his stuff. I bought a 12 hour massage pack from this place since I had two good experiences. However as I started coming here through out the next year, Ying had left and I didn't remember the gentleman's name so every time I came back I just got whoever was available. There is this one lady, don't know her American name either, but her Chinese name also had Ying in it. I remember because both ladies have part of my name in their name. This lady gives the worst massages. She digs her nails into you when giving pressure and she presses on you with her arms which is okay but it's boney and she misses and ends up hitting some bone instead of muscle. I took my sister here for a couple massage and she got the same lady and didn't enjoy her massage either. She said the lady massaged her in places where she didn't care to be massaged and I knew what she meant. On top of this one time I got a 2 hour massage from this lady and I tipped her $30, which is more than 20%, she made a stink face at me and frowned!! I was taken aback how could someone frown when I give them a tip. I felt bad about it but didn't want to think about it and just left. My suspicion was confirmed when I returned with my sister and we got a 1 hour massage each. I tipped $15 each and the lady again made a stink face. She also complained that the $10 bill we tried to give her was old and ripped at the corner (like it's still money!) to get us to fork over the $20 bills we had instead. The owner was there and she asked nicely for more money saying the masseuses work hard so we were pressured into giving $20 each. They basically expect $20 tip here for each hour. I am actually happy to give that but this Ying lady gives mediocre massages and expect more. When I finished my last massage in my pack (thankfully it was good I got a gentleman the last time), the owner asked me if I wanted to buy another pack. I declined saying I was moving away (and I was). She also made a stink face for some reason instead of wishing me well. This is so rude!! If the massage is really really bad I would say something but for something like being rude especially towards tips, I felt awkward to call them out on it. It ruins the experience. Each massage therapist that I have had seems to instinctively know where I am in need of help. Today, after a couples massage I was settling up at the front desk and requested to tip $26 (20% of the total cost) and the employee behind the desk insisted I tip $40, so that each masseuse got a $20 tip. This made me extremely uncomfortable, so I didn't argue it, but I likely won't be back. An employee should never demand additional compensation from a customer. read more

My partner booked a couples massage for my birthday. The massage itself was fine, but it felt similar to when my partner gives me a massage, not like a massage from someone who received professional training. At one point, my masseuse left the room in the middle of my massage to help someone at the front desk. I understand things come up and businesses can be short staffed, but it felt unprofessional and the masseuse did not acknowledge that she left or make up the time she was gone. There were staff members speaking loudly in the halls, which did catch me off guard as I started to relax. When it came time to pay my partner paid for the massage on a credit card and tried to give an 18% cash tip. The receptionist scoffed and told him "the tip is 20%" he ended up tipping the full 20% on a card as he did not have the additional $3 in cash. We left feeling like he was basically required to pay a 20% tip for a mediocre massage. The receptionists entire demeanor changed when he tried to give his original tip and she became very cold. All in all, it was an okay experience but between the masseuse leaving in the middle and the tipping experience I will not be returning. read more

Everything was great except they demand you to tip them at the end. It was very uncomfortable. Of course I was already going to tip her because she did so great but she told me $5 wasn't enough. We were welcomed and greeted with a care package of chocolates and a teddy bear celebrating our Anniversary which was heartwarming! The room we were situated in was very calming and relaxing. I got a 60-minute massage that was a gift paid online by a friend. When I showed up, one of the workers (Tina) was surprised that I had an appointment when it was already set up online. The massage itself was only okay. However, during my 60-minute massage, Tina left three times to answer a phone call during my session. She also ended a little bit earlier than when the hour started. After the massage, I was about to leave the store until Tina told me that I have not tipped. I was not aware of the pricing since this was a gift online. I was more than happy to tip, however, not very much since she left several times during my session. She asked me how much I would like to tip. I told her $5 (not aware of original price). She chuckled and pointed to the store's package deals and said "We usually want 20% tip because we work really hard so is $12 okay?" The paper that she was pointing to said nothing about a 20% tip, and I'm sure some employees work hard, but she left several times during my session. I told her okay, I will tip $10. Then she said, "Okay, $10, plus $2 because you are using a credit card." Then she took my credit card from my hand, and charged me a $12 tip. As soon as I got on the table there was a lot of noise -- loud banging, hammering and also talking which was quite audible -- which seemed to be coming from the room right next door. Thinking it would pass I didn't say anything right away, but soon realized it wasn't going to stop. Finally I asked my massage therapist what it was and she said it was the upholstery shop next door and there was nothing they could do about it. It was impossible to relax and enjoy the massage so I cut it short after 45 minutes. The massage was OK (not the best) and she didn't understand everything I was saying (language barrier). The massage was great! The ambiance, not so much. If you're just looking for a massage this is the place for you but if you're used to a relaxing environment that is spa like, it's not really like that here. It was loud (I could hear people coming and going & construction) , the bed was very hard, they used suave lotion, there was a little pillow on the table with a paper towel on it (that was the only thing separating my face from the pillow), and they only gave me a thin white sheet to cover the rest of my body. When it was time to pay everyone was staring at me. I read the other comments about tipping and they weren't pushy but I could tell they were eager to see if I saw their "tip 20% sign". The massages are the best I have ever had that includes ones I've paid $500 for at fancy places! So far we have been here 10 times. We never were forced to tip, we always did though. They never smelled like smoke. I question the validity of those comments... One SPA in Kirkland down by the lake hustled me for $20 extra tip on top of the $20 I gave bc my muscles were too tight and here hands hurt. We never went back there. Well not this place! We chose this Soa based on good reviews. Booked the 90 minute deep tissue massage which was top notch fantastic however we also booked a salt and oil body Scrub at $50 cost. Thinking that we were going to actually receive a "Body Scrub" in Spa terms, this was a sponge bath at beat! The shower room is unsanitary and they use a wet pillow that smells like mildew and it is NOT covered with any Covid safety measures. The floor is 3 inches of water and it was a terrible experience. I gave it.a ahoy because I believed I was getting a scrub. Instead she used her hands to quickly rub salt ooil from Head and shoulders all over my body and then ribsed me off. It took 15 minutes and a very bad experience. I would definitely not recommend getting a body scrub!. I didn't want to be rude so I foolishly paid the additional $50 dollars. In addition, my spa lady did not wear a mark and I honestly believe that is against health department rules and the CDC. We were not happy upon departure and I will never return. read more
