Family dinner Thursday evening with 7 adults and 3 kids. Had a long table right by buffet foods and high chairs available. Don't except a warm welcome or anything. I don't think the lady walking us to our table and got our drink orders ever smiled. Lots of selection available at the steam tables. Food was hot and refilled promptly. My husband liked the fried frog legs available and egg tarts. My toddler devoured the noodles and crab meat. My favorite was their mango jello. Had your typical Asian buffet items and more! The hostess was not very friendly nor welcoming, she walked us to our table and got our drink order without any sense of personality. There was ample supply of different foods but unfortunately pretty much everything we got was cold except the soup, and everything tasted just "ok", almost like it was bought at Walmart and cooked at the restaurant. I will give the restaurant a A- on cleanliness. There were a few things noted such as a lemon slice on the floor near the buffet steam tables and some rice in the floor as well. We went here about a month after they opened and I was just not impressed with the food. It was all quite bland or sub par compared with other Chinese buffets that to which I have been. Usually I will give a place 2-3 tries but I just found myself un-interested in going back. Asian food is my family's favorite-but I just don't think I will be back. My boyfriend and I seen this place and decided to try it. It was fairly decent and reasonably priced. There were a lot of options. We loved the hibachi part but some of the food on the buffet side was cold. It wasn't very crowded when we went. We went around 4pm on a Friday. Staff was helpful when asked. We are the Galfriends party of 5 tonight. Seems like we gotta have Joy, since it is the current talk of the town. We got a little bit of everything from hot and sour soup to egg drop soup, sautéed green beans, chicken,(both fried and grilled ) with a full Hibachi grill, Chinese donuts and the list goes on and on. The service was excellent and the place was very clean. I think I'm not much of a buffet person and enjoy a more personal service. The hibachi had raw meat for you to pick then they cooked. 1 Star I had a very disappointing experience at Joy East Buffet in Trussville. When we walked in, the waitress acted like she didn't want to clean off a table for us. We stood there for about five minutes while the staff talked back and forth to each other instead of helping us. The food was cold, the service was poor, and the bathroom was dirty. Overall, the restaurant did not seem clean or welcoming. At checkout, my card was initially declined because I had it locked. Once I unlocked it, the transaction went through without any problem. Even after the payment was successful, the cashier had a nasty attitude. When I told him he needed to improve his attitude, he responded by bringing up that my card had declined. I told him it didn't matter if it had declined five times because the payment was completed. His attitude remained rude and unprofessional. I will never spend my money or eat here again, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. read more

The food was mediocre. Service was ok. I found a long black string like substance in my food. I told the waitress who said she would inform the manager. The "manager" returned to our table and informed me that it was part of a mushroom. Needless to say I'll never return to this place. read more

I wanted to plan a graduation party because my family told me this was a nice buffet. I decided to go inside and look around. Before doing so, I introduced myself to the older employee up front and asked if I could look around. (Please note, I said this loud enough for anyone to hear.) She gave me the ok to do so. At any rate, I walked around for a minute, at the most. When I was done I thanked them, I walked out of the restaurant and proceeded to get into my car when two employees came out of the restaurant. One of the employees came up to my car door, knocking on my window, asking me if I paid. The other employee stood towards the back end of my car (for what reason, I'm not particularly sure). I explained that I did not eat, only looked around. In saying all of this, this was a rather embarrassing ordeal for me. I was placed in a very uncomfortable situation, especially since my family was in the car with me. Furthermore, it was highly unprofessional for the employees to follow me out of their establishment, stand at either end of my car, and insinuate that I'd left without paying. 3 of my friends and I went to Joy East after church. It was packed, but there was no waiting. I was amazed at the variety of food choices. You couldn't possibly eat even a taste of everything or you would burst! I have to go back to try some other items!The food was awesome!! the service was fast and friendly. It was a little expensive but worth every penny. My only complaint is that it is very noisey and hard to converse with your friends while eating. read more
