Buffets...a special kind of place where all shame gets left out the door only to be stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey until the body is ready to burst. With all the trash talk about them, much of the world has a special affinity for these establishments nonetheless, whether it's a grand Las Vegas buffet brunch, an extravagant all you can eat feast in Dubai or a place like the King Buffet in Pelham, a countryside low cost, high volume spot to feed the masses of the blue collar class. King Buffet opened in 2023 in a space formerly occupied by Golden Corral. It's pleasantly renovated and as clean as an establishment can be for a buffet concept. There are all the classics here and a few nice extras, like crab. The seafood at King Buffet is plentiful, but to be fair, not particularly good. The crawfish are somehow extremely tasteless, not because they are not spiced, but they just don't taste like crawfish. That's something I've never encountered before. The coconut shrimp is subpar. Mongolian beef is very loosely reminiscent of beef. With that said, all the dishes are not bad either, they are just not great. Where King Buffet shines is the service, with extremely attentive wait staff and superb cleanliness that results from that. As a whole, it does justice to this category of food and there is absolutely no reason to pass by if craving a buffet style meal. read more

Yep. We done made it back to the KING'S!!!! It's crowded and we have been sat back in the back in kiddie land. Children and food is EVERYWHERE! But, everybody is nice. The bar is full of food and that's why we here. We are a party of 5, tasting everything. My favorite today is the sugar covered donuts. Yum. Food placement on their buffet bars. They do not keep shellfish to an isolated area and instead items with shrimp were scattered throughout various bars. Including one container of just peeled shrimp sitting next too teriyaki chicken which one patron dropped shrimp into the teriyaki chicken. When staff was alerted to the danger they seemed completely unaware and later when we checked they had just changed the pan the shrimp was in but not the location on the bar. They didn't even change out the teriyaki chicken. Risking the possibility of someone having a serious allergic reaction. Don't eat here! read more

I was denied entry with my registered service dog yesterday 7-15-2026. I have eaten at this 3 or 4 times at this same restaurant with my service dog without any issues. This time I was stopped from entering the restaurant with my dog unless I showed proof my dog was a service dog. This under Alabama law was illegal even ask. The restaurant owners is a family of 4 brothers. Advice for them they need to educate their employees of the laws of Alabama. read more

My first review of this place was right when it opened. Now that it's been open for a bit, I felt like it was time to update my thoughts. The highlight of this restaurant is definitely the Mongolian Grill (you choose from a bar of raw ingredients and they cook it up for you). Pretty much all the pre-done buffet meats were pretty dry and you could tell they had been sitting under a warmer for quite some time. The side dishes were good, but nothing that "knocked it out of the park". Service was good! The restaurant itself seemed pretty clean and the ambiance was pretty on par with that buffet places. Overall, we came here for the grill, not the pre-done stuff. It was just ok - nothing amazing, but nothing bad. read more

We love King Buffet! My husband and father-in-law choose this place as their favorite restaurant. They have a lot of seafood on their buffet - baked and deep fried shrimp, stuffed crab, baked crab casserole, baked and deep fried fish fillet. They have a Mongolian Barbecue if you're in the mood. Service is attentive and fast. Ambience is fresh and clean, having been redone in the last 2 years. We went to King Buffet and noticed it wasn't packed. It was during the week and we visited at night. We were immediately greeted and seated and our drink orders taken. The restaurant was pretty clean and very bright. It is also a nice size with plenty of tables/seating. They had a lot of staff members ready to assist. I will add that the women's restroom needed a little attention. After trying their food, although it was fairly seasoned, it was cold to lukewarm. This was for pretty much all of the food items we tried, which was interesting because in some areas of the buffet, you could see the steam coming from the pans. Maybe since it wasn't as packed so they didn't have to replenish the food as much so maybe that's why the food was cold to lukewarm?? All in all, pretty decent buffet. read more

The Yelp rating for King Buffet seems to be much lower than it should be. Expectations should definitely be adjusted for a buffet and, for a buffet, I was very impressed. We (party of four) went at Sunday lunch time, which is definitely a peak restaurant time. They kept the buffet full. Nothing is ever low for long and because it's busy, food is frequently hot since they replenished often. The hibachi grill ingredients looked fresh and appetizing. There is a good variety too. Price is reasonable, especially taking inflation into consideration. Service is just fine. They are quick to clear your plates. Overall, definitely recommend! read more

Lots of options. Although, I usually just eat the sushi. I'm a little overly aware of cleanliness, especially associated with buffet-style dining. But, this place is well spaced out and has a good layout for cleanliness. The presentation makes everything look tasty. I love this place. If it wasn't so far from my house I would be going there more. I always get the hot and sour soup. Always a lot of choices when I go there. The food does not all taste the same like some Asian buffets. I enjoyed the dumpling choices, and all of the seafood. I have never tried the grill because I fill up on all of the choices in the buffet. The staff has always been friendly with me and fast to take used plates. This place is a great expression of how large volume and low prices is all it takes to make any product work. The food is not the very most tasting you will find in town! But for less than $12 you get to try a Very Large amount of options, from apterizers of any sort to tiramisu! My super favorite is their grill. You pick a bucnh of raw meats, fish, or seafood, and have the Grill Master cook them for you on the stop. I love the grill more than anythign else. I go there just for that! The place is big! This restaurant has been open for less than 6 months. The building is large with a spacious parking lot and the facility is clean. I enjoy majority of my meals. The fried crab and shrimp were not my favorite, however everything else was delicious. On plate 3, I was full. I didn't have a chance to eat the sushi but I will the next time I come back. This restaurant is large and spacious which is great when you are with a large party or kids. Service was quick and nice. We spilled water and they immediately moved us to a clean fry table. The food was fresh and good, replenished often. It's been pretty busy as it recently opened. The food choices are wonderful and plentiful. Lots of variety. I would love to go back but not soon. What a pleasant surprise! We are not normally drawn to buffets but decided to give it a try for something different and I'm glad we did. So many options to choose from including Mongolian beef, pepper steak, multiple chicken choices, seafood, etc. Then there is the sushi station, salad bar, fresh fruit/jello bar and a dessert bar. A bonus is the Mongolian BBQ where you have a plethora of fresh vegetables and meats with sauces to choose from and it's cooked for you quickly.
