    Stir fried noodles

If you didn't giggle (or groan) after reading the name of the restaurant, then you have failed the desired sentiment of their marketing strategy. I wouldn't consider the location to be the most attractive, but hey we're reviewing the food. Located in Pelham right off Highway 31 in a strip mall with Mi Pueblo a few stores down, Wok On In used to be China Cafe. Their dining room is small but adequate with a few booths and tables. It is simply decorated with a buffet station at the far wall beside their ordering register adjacent to a standup fridge for cold beverages. They only have the all inclusive buffet for lunch. It recently changed hands and is now under the direction of a lovely couple from California hence the "California Classics" on the back page of their double-sided laminated menu. California Classics include a Peruvian beef stir fry, bacon wrapped hot dog, teriyaki avocado burger or crispy pork tacos! I was not as adventurous and stuck with the asian classics this time. We decided to try the Ginger beef, chicken with broccoli, stir fried noodles and egg drop soup. The main chef is the wife and she's quite capable. The soup was tasty. Served on a large bed of steamed rice, the bite sized pieces of marinated chicken breast stir fried with onion and broccoli hit the spot. The generous portion of rice noodles were lightly tossed with the right proportion of sliced carrots, cabbage and fried egg. Yom Yom Yom. The hero of the evening was the Ginger beef. Also served on a large bed of steamed rice, thin slices of marinated beef were simmered and tossed with onions, garlic and green onions in a special ginger sauce. Yom Yom Yom Yom. The beef almost melts in your mouth. The flavor was just a right blend of tart and sweet... delicious! The owner apologized for the wait because they were steaming a fresh batch of rice. I arrived on a Wednesday night late around 830 and they were closing soon. While I waited the owner offered me free samples of their egg rolls which were also good. Wok On In has a cute name, but a serious chef. Their simple Asian (yet ecletcic) menu will grab your attention. Many will agree that WOI is a hidden gem and I plan on returning and maybe I'll try the Peruvian beef stir fry... or not. Welcome to Pelham!

Lunch Special: Mongolian Beef w/Fried Rice

I did a quick search to try a different restaurant. Although only a few reviews, the reviews are good for Wok On In! I have been twice now, ordering the same thing. I like the Mongolian Beef and fried rice, delicious on each visit and always enough for leftovers. I have only done take-out but you can definitely dine in. The owners are very nice and eager to make sure the customer is satisfied.

Lunch special Orange chicken and Mongolian beef with lo mein

So glad we finally have a good Chinese place close to us. This rivals some of the best Chinese food I've had in Birmingham, right up there with Chen Express in Cahaba. I got the lunch special with 2 meat and 1 side for $10 something. Incredible deal and the food was outstanding. I loved the crispy breading on the orange chicken, just how I like it. The Mongolian beef had some good spice to it and really tasted good. And I loved the lo mein noodles on the side. Not much to look at inside but I will carry out here from now on. Hope they can get the support they need to stick around a long time.

Stopped by on a FB recommendation. A little, quiet restaurant nestled in a local strip mall. The menu interested my wife because they offered beef bulgogi. Very large portion! Nicely seasoned and freshly made, served over a fried rice. I, of course, got the buffet. Limited choices but I wasn't disappointed. Fried rice, egg rolls, orange chicken, broccoli and beef, and teriyaki chicken. All were very good and from the smiles of the other customers it was all well liked. Not a bad little stop for a new restaurant just getting their feet under them. I hope they do well. The customer service was over the top! Even though I ordered the buffet the owner kept coming to my table, asking if I had request. He even brought me a Hong Kong Egg custard pie for desert. We will be back! Good luck and thanks for a great supper!

My first meal at Wok On In was better than expected. They opened in April 2023. I met Robert, the owner. He was welcoming and gave me some suggestions of menu items. I ordered the garlic beef with vegetables and fried rice for a quick takeout lunch. The ingredients were very fresh. The wok flavors were well balanced. The fried rice contained real egg! My meal was still hot 15 minutes later when I arrived at my home. The dish would've fed two people. Very copious. I am eager to return and try another dish! This is the best Chinese food I have eaten in or near Helena in over a year.

Son and I enjoying this new Chinese restaurant! Food is excellent and great customer service!

Not a lot on their lunch buffet and it didn't feel the cleanest. They were nice, but I was disappointed from the choices on the buffet.

The ambience is so elegant and relaxing. We always have amazing and friendly service after eating our meals we frequent the market for Filipino snacks.

I will most definitely try this place again !!…read more They had many dishes right up our alley not americanized. So if you want boring food this place is NOT for you. We got so many things to start with Coconut water rice cake. Yes it does have the consistency of a sponge cake. It was good! I also got some Panda red bean buns. Cute and also good! For drinks: Sake, Taro bubble milk tea, and a Thai milk tea. We tried Winter Melon and clam soup For my entree I got Chicken with Lotus root which I enjoyed, My husband got crispy intestine . (My husband said he has never had it done that well-clean taste ) I tried it and it was ok. My son got the Szechuan style sautéed brisket and he ate it up ! To go yep we got sautéed pork belly and eggplant, pork, & basil . Both were also good. The waiter worked his bum off and we gave him a good tip. The only complaint were the young boys working up front who weren't friendly and acted like working was killing them. Why I didn't give you a 5! Otherwise you would have deserved it !!! All the food was delicious! Now on to the market - I like this better than the hometown market why they have many things I haven't seen including Jin noodles I have been looking everywhere for!!!! We bought many things to try including cucumber, orange, and what I thought was Mango potato chips. Nope it was abalone ! Not so good but the orange was good Of course Jin noodles , tiramisu mochi, banana milk rice snacks(yum) , tamarind drink, orange pepper spice, and chili crisp Our cashier though was joyless . Would I go back to both ? Yes I would!!
