Panda House came up by searching for "gluten free" restaurants, combined with good ratings in Alabaster AL, and I had no idea what to expect. The menu listed a dozen gluten free meals on the Chinese menu - and a note at the bottom referred me to the Thai menu for more gluten free options. Service was prompt and friendly and my order of shrimp and vegetables came quickly along with a takeout order for family at home. Food was fresh, and the shrimp were fresher than other area Chinese restaurants' dishes. We were genuinely pleased with the quality and flavors, and will be back. I appreciated the server's genuine smile and it frankly surprised me. I wasn't just another order to take, I felt like she cared I was there and did her best to give me the very best experience she could. The food is so good! We get the coconut soup, sweet and sour shrimp, and shrimp egg foo yung. I would love to see vegetables in the fried rice though. Not just soy sauce. Something changed, including their egg rolls. Their dipping sauce for egg rolls is the best. The family is the sweetest, and our town has watched the kids grow up. Thank you for Awesome food! Love Panda House!! I was so thrilled when I found out they have many gluten free options, along with gluten free soy sauce. They understand about gluten free. Call me impressed. This night just be the best chinese/thai food I have had in Alabama! We ordered online and I picked the food up. We got an order of crab rangoons, spring rolls, happy family, chicken basil, and cashew chicken. Everything was great. I really enjoyed the chicken basil. I would definitely get this again. It was fabulous! Our food came with fried rice and white rice. The fried rice here is different from what I'm used to but I thought it was better than other fried rice. This would be my go to for Chinese/Thai food if it were closer to my house. Excellent experience. My wife and I ordered the Dinner for 2, she had shrimp and lobster sauce, I had the happy family. It was more food than we could eat. The appetizers were great and the main dishes were exactly what we had hoped for. Highly recommend it! Nothing to rave about. It was my first time trying it. We ordered a few different things. Mongolian beef: The beef was overcooked. But the sauce was fine. Vegetable Lo Mein: it was OK. It didn't scream flavorful, but we did eat it all. Sweet and sour chicken: The chicken was a little dry, but the sauce helped tremendously. The sauce was sweet, but tangy. Sesame Shrimp: I didn't try this one, but my 15 yr old son seemed to really enjoy it. Vegetable Fried Rice: Tasted like normal fried rice. Ordered a single order shrimp fried rice with extra green onions. $15 for up charge on onions...and get home to overly cooked rice and no green onions to be found. Had an excellent lunch with a friend here the other day! I ordered the Thai Beef with Basil and they had the General Tso Fish. My meal was the lunch special so it came with a cup of soup (I got Egg Drop) and an egg roll. The egg drop soup was delicious, light with a tasty broth. The egg roll was also very good, with a crisp wrapper and an even mix of meat and shredded veggies inside, with some orange dipping sauce that complemented it perfectly. My beef with basil was SO good, the only thing I didn't like was the rather bland fried rice served with it. I will ask for steamed rice next time. My friend did not enjoy his fish at all, he stated it tasted like a frozen cod fish filet covered in sauce, and one bite confirmed his assessment. Panda house was a serviceable, but unremarkable, visit for me. Their dishes are fine- I enjoyed my Chicken Lo Mein, but nothing else I ate really jumped out as worth tracking this place down. The staff wasn't punctual, and were slow to take our orders even when we were one only a handful of visitors. I had only gotten take out from here once and it was very good. Tonight my friend and I dined in and it was yummy! It's the best Chinese food in Alabaster point blank. Is it Authentic? No Is it Americanized yep But almost every Chinese restaurant is the same. (In Alabaster) (in that regard) Got to go to Hoover for true Chinese not Americanized) I have been coming here since it opened and it's consistently good. I have my favs Lemongrass chicken and potstickers. Son's favorite is General Tso. I miss the basil rolls :( The hot and sour soup was tasty. I will continue to come here . This seems like a nice place that you take a lovely lady on date...if you were there tonight and that was you, I ruined the ambiance by bringing in my raggedy, muddy work crew in there...stinking up the place. All jokes and my nasty crew aside, the place is nice inside. I saw a lot of reviews about service being slow or terrible and wanted to clear the air on that up front. At least from my perspective, I thought it was awesome...drinks always filled, our order was in immediately, appetizer was to the table within 5 minutes or so, main meal was to the table probably within 10 minutes, waitress was nice. My experience was positive. On to the food. I got the crab rangoon for an appetizer for my guys to try something different. I wanted either that or the dumplings, but the waitress said the rangoon was better. They were pretty tasty and I think everyone enjoyed them. They were nice and crisp with a good amount of cream cheese...not much crab though. For my meal, I got the Triple Delight with Basil. It was a combo of chicken, beef, and shrimp in a basil sauce served with sauteed vegetables. There was a decent mix of all the different meats, sauce was good (not spicy - so that's good if that's your jam), lots of vegetables served perfectly crisped with a slight ginger taste, but not overwhelming. White rice for the table. All of my guys got the Dragon and Phoenix because they are all copy cats and when they are in unfamiliar waters they stick together with something they feel most comfortable with. They did enjoy it and three ate all of it so it must have been good too. Oh, and their sweet tea was awesome. Overall, its definitely worth the visit and a return trip from me. We haven't been here in a long time. I hate that because this the best Chinese food in Alabaster. They are friendly people and the menu selection has something for everyone. We staid with the chicken on a stick, won tons and eggs rolls. It all came out fresh and hot. The egg roll was the best of the three. It tasted as if they made it in the back instead of it being made, frozen and shipped in. Our main courses were Mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken. New to the Alabaster area. Headed home after a long day of moving yesterday and wanted Chinese. Per Yelp this was close lol. The front desk attendant was very nice and helpful while I struggled with what I wanted. She told me to take my time. She even asked me what I liked and tried to help me decide which I thought was nice. Ordered Garlic Shrimp. It smelled delicious the home ride home and I couldn't wait to get home. Got home and it was visually amazing. Shrimp were a nice size. All of my favorite vegetables. They were cooked perfectly. It had a pepper next to it so I expected some heat but it was sweet almost too sweet for my taste but for the price I ate it. My daughters tried it and they loved it and can't to go there themselves. Another note worth mentioning is the sauce was very thin and I'm not use to that in Chinese food. I warmed the leftovers up today after more moving and it warms up very well and some Chinese does not. . 9.15.17 Had a dinner date with my oldest. Them damn Dumplings has redeemed all the other dishes I didn't like from here. I swear I could order just these all day and be content. The lo mein was very tasty too but needed flavor so we had to dump soy sauce on it. The hot and sour soup came out all dark and rich and I assumed it was about to be flavor packed and it didn't taste of anything. I poured about 2 TB of soy and the sauce from the Dumplings in to even be able to eat it. Disappointing. Another note I get a family own business has to bring the kids to work sometimes butttttt their kids running back and forth screaming and laughing at the top of their lungs just not the experience one is expecting when you walk in the dimly lit restaurant. 3/29/17 Tried it again and I can honestly say outside of the Steamed dumplings I don't have to eat here. The service is great but the food is just not flavorful at all. The lo Mein noodles were perfect but lacked flavor we had to dump soy sauce on it. Tsk, tsk, tsk! Stay away if good service is your thing. Wait: The first time I ate here, there were no issues at all. This time, we arrived at 5p and we're among a handful of other customers. Seated quickly with no wait. The after work rush begins about 5:30p. Service: Horrid! I'm not exaggerating when I say our service was provided by a middle school-aged child & an elementary school-aged child!!! I'll spare the deets and hit the highlights. She brought the wrong drink for my wife; placed our appetizers in front of us but they were mixed up and bashfully apologized; she took our order but was absent most of our meal, dipping in and out of the kitchen but never coming to our table; when we were done, an 8 yr old dropped off our check w/out saying anything or breaking stride!!! She brought us to-go containers w/out a bag so we had to carry 3 little cartons! So sad...8 yrs old and maybe 13ish. It was like a movie or prank but was really happening! Food: Good, no complaints. Typical Chinese & some Thai food. Huge servings! Wine & Beer: Didn't order, but great prices! I refuse to return and feel bad for this whole situation! Wow. And not in a good way. I feel like I was just punked. This was my second visit to Panda House. On my first visit, I went for lunch and it was a very pleasant experience. This evening, not so much. Positives first. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. The environment is pleasant and inviting. The negative was the service. And it might be the worst I've ever had. We were quickly seated upon our arrival, but then it was all downhill. After approximately five minutes at our table, a girl came to take our drink orders. I ordered Dr. Pepper, but she brought me iced tea. As soon as she reached out to hand it to me, she realized it was the wrong thing. I originally thought the girl (who appeared to be 12-13) would serve only our drinks. Unfortunately, I was wrong. She was with us throughout the entire dining experience, and I say that loosely. When she brought our appetizers, she mistakingly gave me my husband's order and him mine. Then, after they were placed on the table, she said, "Oh, other way." We then exchanged the items on our own. I should note that several spoonfuls of hot and sour soup had made their way from the bowl to the plate. Mess. She delivered our entrees. Our drinks were halfway empty at the time, but she made no effort to offer a refill. Ten minutes later, when we needed refills and more rice, she was no where to be found. To be fair, we could see her, but she would deliver something to someone else's table and then head directly back to the kitchen or the register in the front. No attempt to look in our direction. After about 10 minutes without eating, because we had no drinks or rice, I was able to make eye contact with her and gesture to request her to come to our table, which seemed so inappropriate in a sit down establishment. Later, when we were finished and needed to go boxes, we waited an excessive amount of time to get her attention. However, we finally did, but when the boxes were delivered, it was by an even younger girl. She looked to be between 8-10. She only brought two and we needed three and it was another fiasco to get the third. Then, when the 8 year old finally returned, she dropped off the third box with a smug smile. In addition, there was no bag, so I had to awkwardly carry 3 boxes while my husband paid the bill. Regarding the bill, we have never not left a tip, but tonight was the end of that run. To note, I am not ageist and believe in opportunities for everyone, but when I go out to dinner, I do not expect to be served by 8 or 12 year olds. And I place no blame on these sweet girls, they are girls. The blame here goes on irresponsible adults. I won't return. read more

We are hardly ever in Alabaster, so this was our first time here. We got the red curry tofu and the green curry tofu. They were absolutely delicious! Fresh veggies, crispy tofu, and fantastic flavor! I was really happy with all of the vegetarian options! They have great kids options too. Thw kids can pick their main dish as well as their side. The family that owns it and the staff were incredibly kind. I'm happy we found this place, and we will visit again when we are back on this side of town. read more
