This was honestly terrible. The sesame chicken was so dry and soggy it was basically inedible--none of us could eat it. Worse than chicken in a tv dinner. Unacceptable! Came in for lunch to go and of course what we wanted wasn't on the lunch special lol. I ordered King Pao Shrimp No peanuts it was delicious. It was full of veggies. Bell peppers. Onions. Zucchini. Celery. The sauce was good but soy sauce was needed. The Shrimp were juicy and cooked perfectly. Not overcooked at all. I'm happy to find a good Chinese place that reminds me of my favorite place in Bessemer. I ordered Kylah Shrimp Lo Mein. Her sauce was sweet to her but I love the texture of the noodles and the flavor of the sauce. I loved it. But again soy sauce had to be added I ordered Jordyn Shrimp Fried Rice. There was a lot of rice packed in that container. The Shrimp were a pretty good size and cooked perfectly. And yes soy sauce had to be added. This was our first time here so my fingers were crossed and I will definitely be back. Not too expensive. Health score a 93. Good service. Nice staff. Good food. read more

Since it's the closest Chinese to us I am surprised it took us so long to visit. And I'm sad I missed 8 years of not knowing how good it is. We've been trying this one out for two years now and have never had a complaint. We love their sesame chicken the most but the Mongolian beef is also super delicious. We usually do takeout and we are so ready for them to be back open! On the occasions we have been in the restaurant they have great service and it's quiet. Very clean and they are pretty good about fast service. If you order out they usually have it ready in 15 minutes and it's always hot and well made. They have a station with extra condiments, cutlery, and napkins but they also put some in the bag so that you have some. I have 7 in my family, 3 of them kids, and we usually get two dinner entrees and an appetizer. That is more than enough for us because the portions are very big. This place! I was coming over to my bfs place (he lives in Alabaster) and was craving that sweet, sweet Chinese. I really wanted Lo Mein and had my bf call and ask if they had vegetarian lo mein, which they did. Had him ask if the egg drop soup was chicken broth, and they had no idea. Not sure how they wouldn't since they make the food. Anyways, my lo mein takeout was amazing! Great flavors and it even reheated really well. They put a ton of mushrooms so I was a happy girl. underwhelmed NO MORE I've been here before and was a little underwhelmed, "MeH!" However, today I decided to try them again before driving to Hoover for Chinese food. I was pleasantly surprised! Their Hot and Sour Soup was both hot and sour and very flavorful! Hot and Sour Soup at the other Chinese restaurants around Alabaster, I find to be really bland and gelatinous- not hot or sour. I also ordered the Spring Rolls and they were very good. Although, they forgot to give me the sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard to dip them in - that was disappointing. For lunch, I also ordered the Sesame Chicken and Mongolian Beef. They both came with fried rice and were really good. The Mongolian Beef was better, in my opinion, because it was not as sweet as the Sesame Chicken. They did list on the takeout window that prices are 5% higher than usual because of covid... I don't get that, but okay. I'll be back if they keep up the good cooking! read more

Solid Americanized inexpensive Chinese spot. I've not been in for some time. This used to be a go to spot for takeout. My wife loooved a little Chinese place nearer our home. They sold out so we gave this place another shot this evening. The dinner prices exceed the super inexpensive lunch specials but remain modest. We were served promptly. Service was attentive and friendly. My daughter and I shared hot and sour chicken, sauce on the side aka Chinese chicken nuggets. My son had the mandarin chicken. My daughter also had an egg roll and some egg drop while I had hot and sour. The hot and sour was ok. The egg drop was good. My daughter ate the entire bowl. She doesn't eat more than a couple bites of anything. She mangled the egg roll, it wasn't particularly special. The dinner portions are large. Each was prepared fresh. My son really liked his mandarin chicken. The rice was fresh and fluffy. The chicken in the sweet and sour was of better quality than typical with these type places and the batter was far thinner so you actually taste chicken vs super thick batter on varied miscellaneous chicken bits. These were large chunks of white meat chicken lightly battered and fried crisp. They were super hot denoting prepared to order. Got take out lo mein for the wife. She really enjoyed it and was very happy with the portion as it provided her lunch tomorrow. Overall a good experience. Preferable to the outfit that took over for our old favorite spot in Helena. read more

I have been eating here since the doors opened in the 80's. We'll never eat there again. Andy retired and the food is now not eatable. Special hot and sour soup for two had 2 shrimps and 2 scallop. Sweet and sour sauce recipe was changed and not good. Husband ate about 3 bites of his meal. The eggs rolls would have been great if we hadn't be the sweet and sour sauce on it first thinking it was the good old sauce. Sorry after all of these years WON'T we back!!!!! Our go-to place for Chinese. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Food is hot, tasty and well priced! We love the daily specials and always have plenty leftover to take home after filling up on soup (egg drop is amazing!), crunchy noodles and egg rolls! Love this local gem! read more

We went in today and were surprised to find things a little different. We have been eating here since the 80's but only make it in occasionally these days so we didn't know that the owner had retired. My husband and I were a little worried at first because this place has always been the same and always good. We decided to order an old faithful, Sesame Chicken , and something from the new items, House Special Mei Fun. We liked both! The sweet and sour sauce was different but we still liked it. The staff was nice and everything else seemed the same so though we were sad to hear that Andy had retired and worried that one of our favorite places had changed, we were pleased with the changes. read more
