I love every time that I stop at a new place and to eat and it ends up being wonderful. This New China was seriously so perfect delicious. Everything I ordered was completely perfect. Also, I had a long day working and I literally had not eaten anything yet so I ordered a bigger order than normal dinner and each one was seriously delicious. I had the twice cooked pork and general tso's this time and they were both great! Last time I had their mongolian beef, hunan chicken, and fried rice. This is exactly what I want in a neighborhood Chinese place: delicious Chinese staples served in an unpretentious atmosphere at a reasonable price. I usually come here for takeout. My food has always been prepared quickly (phone orders are ready in 10 minutes!) and everything I've tried has been good so far. I like the hot and sour soup, the eggrolls, and the various entrées are prepared exactly the way you would expect. Ingredients seem to be good quality. The owners have always been very nice. I had the Generals Chicken. Egg rolls were good, egg drop soup was good. The General may be using old retired egg layers for the chicken. It's a cheap way to keep prices (and edibility) down. The texture was rope like. As you chew the strands come apart but no matter how long you chew it doesn't break down. I hope that was a bad batch and that this isn't regular practice but I don't think I'm going to gamble by going back to find out. I'll give them a 3 just in case, instead of a 2 since I'm not going to give them a second chance. I was hoping we had found a new place to eat. read more

Our family loves New China! This is some of the very best consistent Chinese food in this area. Nothing fancy, nor sophisticated, but just a wide selection of good quality, tasty food. And we appreciate the great service of the family who owns and operates this restaurant. Mom works the front counter and phone, Dad works the grill/kitchen, and their daughter cleans and serves (and has been the resident artist since she was a small child - check out the increasingly complex art now covering the walls after the past ten years!). Today, we ordered takeout for lunch. It was ready when promised and still steaming hot when we we got home 15 minutes later and still very warm when we finished...must have been at least 30 minutes later. Well... I'm trying to support the local business. But come on!! No one was wearing a mask. This family ran business, a child was in the dining room by the register not wearing a mask, father whom I'm assuming the owner was watching some Chinese show on his phone at full volume not wearing a mask, and wife who was at the register not wearing a mask. To top it all off, I got home and container leaked through and the bag it's in and left a sauce in my car!! This is the last time. Sorry. Will be supporting another local business. Their egg rolls ($2.50 for 2) are REALLY good, fresh crunchy veggies, not soggy at all. SOUP I have had the Egg Drop, Won Ton and Hot and Sour soups and have not been disappointed with them at all. Got this on Monday as my go-to Chinese place near me seems to be closed on Monday. It was good. I wouldn't say it surpassed any expectations by any means, but it was decent. I wasn't mad about it, and I'd eat there again, but if you're in the area, I'd recommend Hunan Cuisine or Hunan Garden if you don't mind driving a little further. I've just tried to place a takeout order at 8:03 (keep in mind their hours still claim to close at 9 PM) and was told they decided they're closing early tonight and asked how long I would be till I got there. I told them I could arrive in 15 minutes. After what sounded like aggressive conversation in Chinese in the background, I am told "sorry we can't take your order, goodbye" What a way to run a business, especially to a long time, loyal customer. The menu has changed since this users' last visit. The prices have gone up, but I guess that is to be expected with inflation. They still have mouth watering egg rolls and the sweet and sour chicken is still awesomely good. Parking is still an issue because of its location inside the shopping center. During the week, parking doesn't seem to be an issue. The place is never crowded so seating is open range.....unless the owner tells you to sit at a certain table to get service like they did with my party. :( Enjoy. read more

The food, as written in a previous review was so so- nothing rare about the food- service was definitely missing- the young lady attending to our party of 6 wasn't welcoming nor were we addressed - several times the waitress/ cashier reached over my entree, soup and drink to obtain condiments to provide to another tables , without the first excuse me or do you mind etc.... I could have taken my time and money to Kobe's for a much better product and experience- if you are into lack luster service/ food, this is your spot. Ever since our old favorite, Chop Suey Inn, closed and sold their business to the proprietors of what is unfortunately now Rice Lovers, we have been on the search for a new go-to Chinese place. The Chinese food craving didn't hit very hard during the summer, but it hit hard and fast tonight. Having seen that New China had such positive reviews on Yelp and Urbanspoon, we decided to give them a shot. The decision was somewhat spontaneous (ordering Chinese food usually is), and it was a little late in the evening on a Sunday, so I decided to call and make sure they were going to be open long enough to put in an order. The lady informed me in the broken English so typical of the most-beloved Chinese restaurants that they may close early due to a slow night, but maybe not. The vagueness was a good sign, as the best Chinese restaurants generally play by their own rules and don't really care what you or I think. She happily told me that I could put in my order right then on the phone, which I did. I decided to play it safe, and ordered a sesame chicken and two egg rolls. After I was informed it would be ready in ten minutes, I ran out to the car and headed to where Google Maps and Yelp claim that New China is located, roughly somewhere around ABSCO Fireplace & Patio or Zaxby's, even though I don't remember a Chinese place over there. As I was pacing up and down the 280 access road, I got a call on my phone. I answered and promptly was asked if I was coming to pick up my order. With a chuckle, I said yes, but that I was having a hard time finding the place. The lady then told me that they are located (Fellow Yelpers, take note) behind the Krispy Kreme on 280 and then proceeded to curtly ask me to hurry up as they had decided to close for the night. I took no offense to this, as again, this is pretty standard for a Chinese restaurant; bluntness is apparently part of their culture. When I arrived, the staff was very friendly and apologized for the confusing directions, which of course was not their fault at all. I received my food and my card was processed promptly. I was in and out in 60 seconds flat. The dining room was simple and didn't have the chintzy decor so often seen in Chinese places. I wouldn't make plans to dine in, but for the once out of ten times that I decide to dine in for Chinese, it would be more than suitable. Now on to the food. First, the egg rolls. Oh my. A perfect ratio of crispy outside to hot and soft outside, and they were very hearty egg rolls to boot. Totally worth the $2.50 for the two of them. Next, we split the sesame chicken with steamed rice. The rice was quite good, not the mushy mess that some places serve you. The chicken pieces all appeared to be white meat chicken; they were moist and full of flavor. The best part was that they were only lightly breaded and lightly sauced, unlike some restaurants that give you triple-breaded dark meat chicken drowned in sauce. My only complaint was that the sesame seeds were all concentrated on about five pieces of chicken at the top-center of the pile; there wasn't much of an effort to spread or toss the seeds with the other pieces of chicken. This isn't that big of a deal, but it would have been nice to have the entire dish resemble sesame chicken rather than only part of it. I think we have found our new staple chinese take-out restaurant, especially since it turns out that it's only about two minutes from where we live. I will definitely be returning here for that spontaneous Chinese craving. Highly recommend. read more

I was disappointed with the food. I got sesame shrimp. What I received was deep fried small, flavorless shrimp covered with a batter that was about twice the size of the shrimp. A few sesame seeds were sprinkled on top after they were cooked. They were covered with a sweet sauce that did not add to the flavor. I also got the chicken wing appetizer. They were ok, but small. I doubt that I could recommend this restaurant to anyone who was looking for a good Chinese meal. read more
