Honeycomb latte
Suzanne B.

I frequent The Joy Bar weekly and always enjoy it. Great coffee, friendly staff, quaint place. Today, I stopped in to get a yummy hot honeycomb latte after being outside for a few hours waiting to see the monks. This delicious latte was the perfect way to end my unforgettable morning of peace and hope.

We stopped in for a little pick me up from Joy Bar Coffee and it's the cutest coffee shop! I love that you can either order from a window outside or come inside to order. Our barista was super friendly, I was having a hard time deciding which drink I wanted to order off of their fall menu and she was awesome giving me suggestions. I went with the Pecan Pie latte because the barista told me it took the longest for them to perfect and it was the best selection for me. I love pecan pie and while it did taste like pie, there was also the strong, bold coffee flavor I loved. The inside is cute and spacious and I live that they sell trinkets from outside vendors. We will definitely be returning when in High Point!

Great coffee and excellent ambience! This place is in a prime spot for anyone looking to fuel up for an evening in downtown High Point, or just to find quiet refuge to talk with a friend or get some work done. They have a nice sized patio with plenty of natural growth that can be enjoyed, and even a window where you can order directly from the outdoors. They're also adjoined to some neat stores selling an eclectic mix of items where you can sip (carefully) and peruse! My standard drink is an iced mocha, and the one they served up had a nice deep espresso flavor while also a perfect marriage of chocolate. As a new coffee drinker, i need that hit to cut things a little, and with some milk I found it all very well balanced. In the past, this place used to be called 83 Custom Coffee, and you can still find some things around that are branded that way, including their mobile coffee bar outside. It's still the same great people, and there is also now a 2nd location on the other side of High Point off Eastchester dr.

Such a cute spot tucked in high point. I love a seasonal menu and theirs didn't disappoint. I got the peach cobbler matcha and they had so many yummy looking options. It's attached to an antique store and a baby store so it was fun to browse around after we got our drinks.

Very friendly staff and the coffee was amazing! It was connected to two other small shops. Fall menu had great variety of flavors.

My absolute favorite coffee shop in High Point! My latest obsession is the Honey Honey latte. As a bonus, you can always find yummy nibbles from Camino Bakery. Win -Win Great service from kind, helpful baristas and so speedy! Nice tables if you choose to stay around and work a bit.

One of my favorite coffee spots in High Point. Staff is always pleasant and welcoming. The space is very cozy and ideal for getting some work done. It's generally pretty quiet and most people just come and go. There are a lot of options on their menu and they usually have seasonal menus. I usually opt for their delicious apple cider or their freshly blended Matcha. Once had a marshmallow infused fall drink but forgot the name. It was delicious though. I truly love my visits here.

This cafe is a dream. I ate lunch in the outdoor garden patio facing the street, with a fire pit and a wind chime on a large tree. Such a picturesque setting, I almost forgot I was on Main St. The Halloween drink menu "What We Brew in the Shadows" mesmerized me. I chose the Frankenstein, a lavender blackberry matcha with a chocolate swirl, served hot, and with oat milk as recommended. It was just the right level of sweetness and the flavors worked so well together. There is indoor seating as well, with restrooms. This cafe is attached to a furniture store and flower shop. It was fun to lounge and people-watch the busy walk-up order window that is available at the front of the store. They were playing some good tunes, including The Smiths and The Cure, that I suppose would be considered 'oldies' now, but endeared me even more to the café ;-).

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They care more about the quality of the roast here. I have not had a better coffee elsewhere. Even in my hometown of Dallas, TX. After trying a few other places and finding 83, I made it a point to come here every day I was in town. Twice even on some! My visits only took place at their coffee truck, not the physical store. The staff was very pleasant every time. No matter how busy they were. I may have to fly back just to get their coffee! Damn it's good.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast with my lil guy this morning. I picked a Crème Brûlée 16oz hit with almond milk and a Sticky Bun. My little guy ordered a decaf with strawberry and mint syrup and cinnamon roll. Everything was delicious! It's awesome they get pastries from Camino Bakery! The coffee was hot and flavorful! The ladies working this morning were lovely and filled our orders without incident.

Stopped by here with some friends the other weekend. Super cute inside and out. There is a window outside for ordering and a ton of space inside. The place itself is semi connected to some cute decor stores that we didn't have time to explore. Seemingly cute all around downtown though. When we arrived, we could tell the poor baristas were struggling. Then one left and the other was solo. She was trying to manage a window and a line of 6+ people solo. My friends and I tried to keep orders simple to help because she was clearly flustered. Eventually it died down and she could take a breather. And we asked her to take a photo for us. She was super kind. The cold brew coffee was a bit weak with all the ice but nice nonetheless. I kind of wish I got a speciality drink or latte instead as they looked good. Maybe I can go back and try it again!

I'm not sure if they do consignment style shops within the gift shop, or if it's all under the same business, but it's arranged in a bunch of mini sections that all kind of have a different aesthetic. It was a bit maze-like, but I have no doubt they sell something in here for everyone. Like the gift shop, the bakery had huge variety. Who knew there were so many types of cake? I ended up getting a carrot cake latte and a heart shaped macaron. It was only after I had ordered my latte with oat milk, checked out (including paying the up-charge for oat milk), and waited several minutes that they told me they were out of oat milk. This was disappointing, as I paid my extra for the oat milk, yes, but also because I don't really want a latte in general without it. Regardless, it was too late, so I just told them to do it with 2%. The latte was okay but I didn't love it. It mostly tasted sweet and like cinnamon. Which I guess is more or less what carrot cake tastes like? The menu said it came with a cream cheese cold foam or whipped cream (I don't remember which) but it came out with plain whipped cream. The espresso was a little bitter - maybe burnt or shocked. The macaron was gorgeous, but didn't have a macaron taste or texture. It was hard like cookie. A macaron should be light and airy, and the shell should almost collapse under a bite. I had to chomp through this one. I am not sure if it was stale, a bad batch, or if their "macarons" are just "macaron shaped cookies" by design.

Debeen Espresso is a charming, female-owned local gem that combines the art of great coffee with delicious, in-house gluten free and vegan baked goods. From the moment you step inside, the inviting atmosphere and warm smiles from the baristas set the tone for a great experience. I had the pleasure of trying their banana walnut muffin, and let me just say--it was the moistest muffin I've ever tasted. The balance of banana, walnut, and spice was perfect, and it paired wonderfully with my almond milk latte. There's an array of gluten free and vegan muffin and cookie options as well as additional treats (overnight oats, carrots and hummus, etc) in the fridge. It's clear that Debeen Espresso takes pride in not just the quality of their coffee, but in everything they do. We were there doing some behind-the-scenes content, and the space was welcoming, calm, and perfect for both conversation and getting things done. Drink-wise, everything was on point. The Honey Ginger Chai was smooth and comforting, especially with almond milk and a nice froth. The blueberry muffin (warmed) was simple but really good--sometimes that's all you need. My cappuccino, the José Conseco, truly lived up to its name: bold, smooth, and flavorful without needing any added sugar. That alone says a lot about the quality of their coffee. What stood out most is that Chi Rho really proves you don't need a lot of sugar or extra additives to make a great cup of coffee. The flavors speak for themselves. I was pretty taken aback by how many dessert options they had. Not only did they have a plethora of types of desserts, but they had sooo many flavors/varieties of each one. If you can name it, I'm sure they have it. I've been looking for somewhere nearby to get a proper macaron (as opposed to a hard, macaron shaped cookie without the traditional texture) at a reasonable price point. This definitely met those criteria, so of course we tried a flower shaped macaron. It had the perfect, delicate cookie and that classic, light almondy flavor. We also had a brownie batter cookie, which was delicious and reminds me of something I would have saved on Pinterest a decade ago but never gotten around to making, much less as well as they do. Though there was a line inside, we were served super quickly by friendly staff, and found a nice seat outside in the sun. They also had abundant indoor seating. Maybe I'm the last one to hear about Sweet Dough and everyone else has been a fan, or maybe it's a true hidden gem. Either way, I will 100% be back.
