ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! The girl had no clue what she was doing and I can't believe she was allowed to work unsupervised. My highlights came out very patchy, gold and brassy, with a lot of blue/purple in-between. She was only supposed to trim my ends in a straight line (blunt cut), but leave the very front longer than the rest (same style that I walked in with), but she cut the long pieces too. No one ever came over to check her work. I pointed out areas that looked brassy but she said it was the lighting and that it would be fine after I washed it. The total was $128...I paid her a $75 tip because I believed she had done what I had asked her to. I'm very disappointed and feel ripped off! I want my money back...especially the $75 tip! read more

Just had a really strange experience here. Couldn't even get an appointment. The told me I'd have to get my roots bleached and then wait a whole week to get it colored. Because otherwise my "keratin would not lay flat". Wouldn't even make me a back to back appointment. Said that there's no way it could be done. Shocking to me that it can't be done as its been done every five weeks like clockwork for more than three years. Person taking calls said they did not know how to do hair but would not let me talk to a stylist or manager. Took my number but I don't have high hopes that I'll get any kind of call back. I went to get my hair cut and colored by Bre. I told her I did not want my hair black. While I was there she cut another customers hair during my appointment. I paid $245 and my hair turned out black after me showing her pictures of a lighter brown and letting her know I did not want black. My hair turned out black. I asked her to put a few highlights of lighter brown on the top to fix it. She refused and told me I could come back in two weeks. No thanks! Poor customer service and does not listen. Sent my son here last Friday for an appt. He had Lauren. He had long thick hair that he'd ben growing out for over 2 years. He told her just wanted a trim. His hair was past his shoulders about 1/3 the way down his bicep. She cut it up to just below his ear and gave him a pixie cut and he then had to go get it fixed the next day and had to get a mid fade. She destroyed over 2 years of effort and when he finally got it to the length he wanted, just ruined it. Would not recommend to anyone. Worst experience I've ever seen. read more

I went to this salon during the time I lived in the Denton area for having my color done. As a consultant I frequently move across the country regularly so change salons every year or so. I like to keep my color consistent so make sure to get the color formula being used to provide my new stylists. This salon and stylist refused to tell me the color they were using. I have never had a stylist who was not happy to provide that information to ensure I had matching color when I moved. All have wished me well and have been happy to provide it. Clearly this salon is not internet in being helpful if they are no longer going to be making money off of you. They claimed it was a "trade secret" and it is not their policy to share that information. The crazy thing is, I actually shared with them the formula my former stylist was using. read more

My daughter's hair was badly damaged from a previous salon and Myrphy transformed it into modelesque form! Well, I have been to this salon a few times in the past. It was good prior to this time. I was so excited to get highlights and root lift before the holidays. I left the salon pretty much in tears. I now have purple/lavender. Orange, brown, and some blonde in my hair. I will definitely need to go elsewhere for correction. read more

before i go on, im not one to leave reviews on places but i have to let you guys know of my awful experience. I had called a week earlier to schedule an appointment and they asked some questions about my hair (length, color, what i wanted to do, etc) i went in for a bright/blood red look which they marked down as "highlights" in the notes (not what i wanted) the stylist got it fixed and talked to me about what i actually wanted done. she then proceeded to tell me that it wasn't possible but that we can try. mind you, she was very rude and standoff-ish during this whole conversation. but she said that since my hair was so dark that the bleach wouldn't pick it up even though i had told her that my hair picks up bleach and color very well and that my natural hair color was blonde. she decided to do a strand test with the bleach which of course i was okay with. after the strand test she was surprised that my hair picked up the bleach so well... hmm. she started the bleaching process and then the color process. she told me the whole time that it was going to turn out a great even bright red color. she was wrong. after she washed out the color we went to the chair and my hair was HOT PINK. i decided to wait until it was dried to see what the color actually turned out to be. it got worse. at the end of the drying my hair, it was three different colors. hot pink at the top, a salmon undertone looking pink/red in the middle and then finally a sort of red at the end. i didn't even know what to say. after 3 hours in the chair so excited for this new color it turned out to be three colors none of which i wanted. i was so shocked and upset that i paid and left. the next day i went to target and got box dye and dyed it myself a dark red to cover up the mess that was my hair. on top of all of this, it was extremely expensive. i paid $430+ for something that i did not want. moral of the story i will not be coming back here ever again, im so upset. :((( read more

I love Jovie Salon! I've been to several of their locations and they are all so welcoming and inviting. Of course, my favorite part of my experience is my stylist, Jak! She takes such good care of me and my hair. She takes the time to make sure I'm happy with my cut and she listens to all of questions. She is very knowledgeable about the products she uses, and she explains how they benefit my hair, but she isn't pushy about it. I needed a cut and color. I told the person booking the appointment I wanted one color all over (needed to cover grey). I got an appointment today with a new stylist but was told she was fully trained and would do a great job. She wanted to put a permanent color on the roots and a glaze on the ends - she said it would be less harsh on my hair and would be one color. Over $150 later, the cut is fine, but the ends are much darker than the roots - and my face is stained from the dye (has never happened to me before). When I asked about the dark ends (too focused on the bad color job to even ask about the stained skin) she said, "it's not that bad." I asked if I washed the ends if that would help, "no, don't wash it. It's fine." Absolutely no fix. The lady at checkout tried to cover by assuring me, "it's a nice all-over color." She assured me without actually looking at my hair (must have just heard me asking the stylist about it). So, I went to a professional stylist for my hair to turn out, "not that bad" and/or "fine." I was hoping for at least "good." Tomorrow I will call around to find a color correction specialist and try to get this fixed. read more

First of all, this location is closed. Why would the scheduler not tell me to go to a new location when they knew I was a new client and found the salon on Yelp? I was in a time crunch already that day, which made it even more frustrating. Secondly, my hair looks awful. It's long and straight and I just wanted hair cut straight off the bottom. Should be the easiest cut ever. One side is longer than the other and there are random long chunks sticking out. Total waste of money. I waited a very long time for this cut and I was very disappointed. I do not recommend this salon and I will not be back. read more

Booking my appointment was easy & pleasant; Jessica listened to my needs & helped me find a hairdresser for the next day who specialized in color with a little bit of a funky side. The decor & atmosphere at the Allen location is pretty & professional but still relaxed, & I was offered a wide selection of drinks, both alcoholic & non. Hillary, my hairdresser, instantly put me at ease with her friendly, attentive attitude & was always happy to clarify what she was doing & what options I had. She was very gentle with my hair & frank with her opinions on what would look best with my face & preferences. I'm really happy with my cut & color, & she did an excellent job explaining how she styled my hair. She's absolutely amazing at washing hair to boot (which is the best part of getting my hair done)! I came into Jovie for the first time to see Kim after an at home color mishap. I had a bright green mullet that looked absolutely terrible. I was so embarrassed to be walking around that I decided to make an appointment at Jovie, my first professional hair salon experience. I was over the moon with everything about my experience. The stylist was honest with me about what we could move forward with as it was a huge color correction, and they were great about teaching me how to take care of my hair at home to soothe some of the damage I did to it. They offer wonderful treatments and spa services that are not only relaxing but help with my hair integrity and health. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful. Now I have the hair that I have always dreamed of and am so confident walking around. A complete 180 to when I first walked into Jovie for the first-time months ago. I moved to Texas a couple of months ago and have searched for a salon where I could be comfortable and confident that someone could cut my hair to compliment my face and be easy to manage. I went to several salon in McKinney and always left feeling disappointed. I must say that has changed since I found Jovie Salon at Craig's Ranch in McKinney. The stylists are amazing and the salon is warm and welcoming. It has been many years since I've had a stylist who understood what worked best for me. Amanda styled my granddaughters hair for her graduation from college and her wedding. It was fabulous. And again she went A+ with a perfect style for me. I was so very disappointed with my last visit to this salon. First off, they should not be in the $$ category. I have very short hair and went in for a haircut, cut, root color and a few highlights. I have to get the cut and color done every 4 weeks since I am grey and have brown hair. I have never had a toner applied to my hair in previous salons since I have olive skin and actually like the warmer tones on me. My bill was $246 for this service! I can see paying that for an absolutely stunning cut and color but this was not the case. The breakdown was color $66, highlights $82, toner $41and the haircut $57. After leaving a tip...almost $300!!! I felt like I was totally taken advantage of. There are better salons out there if you are willing to pay this amount every month!!!! read more

I got the worst cut of my life at Jovie Salon. It cost me $150+ dollars to fix it. Even though they refunded the cost of the cut it didn't come close to the cost of fixing the mess of my hair. It was way to short and uneven. A nightmare. What I didn't like most is the owner refused to call me back even though the GM of Craig Ranch Fitness said they would. Don't trust them. They will ruin your hair and ignore your calls. read more
