There are so many "hair stylists" and hair salons in the DFW area, and hardly any of them possess a skill set that is worth anything. But they allllllllllllll think they're great and want to charge you an arm and a leg. Only to be disappointed by their lack of skill set, experience, and knowledge. On the recommendation of a coworker, another coworker and I just went to Tim Jon Salon for the first time. To say I was pleased is an understatement. This salon is amazing and I am only sorry that I didn't come here sooner. We were warmly greeted on arrival and didn't have to wait long at all. Both Tim and Bang were so friendly, as were the others who waited on us...service with a smile! They listened to what we wanted for hairstyles, offered some great suggestions and the end results were terrific! Unfortunately, due to some medical issues, it has been years since I've had my haircut on top of losing my regular stylist. After almost three years of physical and occupational therapy I am starting to feel better both physically and mentally. I did some research online for a new stylist. I wanted a stacked bob with sharp angles which is not easy I've been told. I found a review by a client that also went to Tim for this type of cut. Luckily, I got an appt for Sunday (today) about a week ago. Tim listened to what I wanted and I showed him pictures of my vision. Tim provided feedback to advise me what would work best based on my facial structure. I LOVE my haircut. Tim was on POINT! He called my haircut a "good luck" haircut since I have a job interview tomorrow. Note: Their website states they take AMEX however, due to a new system they actually do not. I was devastated since this was the only form of payment I had on me. Tim's wife was super professional about it and advised me to just comeback or send her payment! WHEN are people or businesses ever like this??!! I'm floored by their kindness and understanding. I highly recommend this salon as it hands down can compete against the "Jose Eber" super high end salons. The salon is beautiful and clean as well as being accessible from the road. I saw the sign, so I came in to ask about pricing, for dying my buzz cut hair... baby pink. It's a two-process dye job, due to my natural color being dark brown. I walked into the place, which only had one customer. I said, "Hi there," to the lady and gentleman standing by the customer. The lady turn around and looked at me very oddly, cocking her head to one side, but didn't say hello or anything. (Like she couldn't figure out why I was there.) I remarked (out loud) that she must be thinking why is this lady here? The gentleman then said, "it must be for a perm!" Then laughed at what he thought was a very funny joke. The lady walked to the counter where I was standing and still hadn't greeted me, despite looking at me quizzically the entire time. I then said, "Actually I came in to ask about getting it dyed pink, but no... Nevermind. I think I will go somewhere else." They don't know my situation... I cut my hair off after a bad dye professional dye job. But my Mom lost her hair three times to Cancer. Maybe be a little more understanding and act as if you want customers to walk into your business! Ugh! Rude people are the worst!!! read more

Greg Britner is a master at haircuts and blowouts. I have followed him to four different salons. It took me forever to decide to review this, because I don't want people to overbook him and make it tough for me to get an appointment - but I want him to stay in Plano. He's fabulous and he knows it, and he will make you just as fabulous. I'm not sure about the rest of the staff because I judge their integrity by how they react to my thick hair, but I always see their clients leaving with a smile on their face. It was a Friday night and I was looking to dye my hair at 5pm. Yes I know, what salon would take a long haired girl, on Friday night and dye her hair?!?! TIM JON SALON DID!!! Bang was the best. She did a great job on my hair color. She really listened to what color I wanted to do and even recommended a lighter shade, which i am glad she did. She took her time with the color as well as the wash. And remember I didn't start my appointment till 6pm. She was patient and kind and I really appreciate her service. I have been going to Mina for years now and will never change. I may be moving out of town but because she is a great person and an incredible stylist, I would see if I could still schedule, at least monthly color & cuts with her. Before I "stumbled" across Mina, I had a super hard time finding someone who (1) understands and listens to what I want to do, (2) is willing to cut my hair as short as I want to, and (3) keeps my hair in healthy condition even though it "changes" shades of blonde regularly. She also cuts my son's hair: he has shoulder-length hair. She has kept it healthy and full of body. I would totally recommend Mina to anyone with any type of hair or style (traditional to non-traditional). (Mine is board straight while my son has a beautiful natural wave.) read more

Never again. I realize now why the salon is empty with no clients. Just got my hair done by Stacey. Wanted blonde balayage look, showed multiple pics, she said sure lets do it, gonna look great. Hell no. My hair is gray. All she did is put multiple low lights in the proceeds to charge me 230 dollars for hair that looks horrible, not what I wanted, old lady hair. My jaw dropped when I saw it and the price tag. Nothing's worse than paying that much, wasting half your day to absolutely leave feeling the worst you've ever looked. Love Tim's work. I have bounced around salons for the last several years - ranging from super low end to super high end (a la Jose Eber). I have never found anyone who actually gives me what I want while using their own creativity at the same time, both with cut and color. I have actually abstained from color for over a year because I've been at a loss for a good colorist. I had dark shoulder length hair and wanted a cute angled and stacked bob. Tim nailed it. I've gotten a zillion compliments since last weekend and love it. Also, he taught me tricks on how to style it (versus just pushing product like most places). Must say I absolutely love my hair! Stacey has been my stylist for over a year and a half. She pays great attention to detail, knows her stuff and products. She's enhanced my color, and the highlights are really great. I had trouble having someone get the right shape but Stacey worked with me to find a shape, style that really works for me. She'll always make sure I'm happy with the end result, and if it's needs tweaking, she will happily oblige! The people in the salon are nice too! It's usually buzzing when I'm there.
