I have been using this salon for a year now. When I first started I was only getting a cut. And with in an hour or less of scheduling I was in the chair! While I was there I talked with my stylist, Cara and devised a plan to return for a gloss treatment. Still wonderful! Everyone is so nice, friendly, and FUN! Love them all! Cara is the Best! I knew it would be pricey for full grey blending but it is great! Love it! Salon is clean, prices are better than anywhere I have been in McKinney. And actually better than what I paid when I used to live in Arkansas. I'm still learning names of everyone but honestly everyone in there is great! Wanted to love this salon so so bad, mostly because they carry Davines hair products that I wanted to use. I have dark hair and mostly use Darkest brown to color my hair(boxed or professional color) This professional at the Salon wanted to bleach my hair so that they could put Dark(darkest) brown color on my hair. Honestly, I think she must have only worked on lighter hair most times but this place is definitely not for me. I am okay with the kind of high prices but it's not the quality I wanted. First, I love that this salon is open on both Saturday and Sunday! Secondly, I had a hair emergency and was able to get into this salon on a Sunday within two hours of contacting them by text! Lastly, Mindy totally understood my problem and was able to correct for me. And we created a plan for a follow up visit to continue correcting an improper process performed at a different salon the day before. I have been coming to 209 salon since I moved to Texas for a couple years now. I was so excited they opened one in Melissa And been going there since. I really like it that they had one l close to my house. Very convenient. I had recommended Yzma to my family. My dad, mom, sisters and even my daughter gets their hair done hair by Yzma. We go to her because we trusted her and we stay loyal. But at this point I am very disappointed with her, staff ( Yolanda and front desk receptionist) and Owner Rich. I wasn't going to write a review however given the similar experience in 209 Salon Yelp review I feel like obliterated to advise of my experience. While it can be expected that anyone can have a bad day and demonstrate questionable actions this was two consecutive days of poor customer service. Yzma was the stylist who I have scheduled with. I came 30 min earlier to my appointment because I received a text message stating Yzma had an opening. When I arrived 25 min later. Yzma looked annoyed and frustrated. Not a "hello" or " how are you" She asked what I needed with a snotty attitude. I brushed it off because I figured she was having a bad day. She was discussing her business with me and others that she is frustrated that her passport wasn't going to be ready for her upcoming trip. I am a very observant person and I can tell she was rushing throughout the whole process with my hair. The next day my mother gets her hair done By Yzma. during her process my mom calls me very upset and I can tell something was wrong. She was telling me that Yzma had messed up her hair and she was not listening to her. They " washed" her hair with a spray bootle because they were in a hurry and they didn't wanted to do their JOB! They struggled brushing it because obviously it wasn't washed correctly. Instead of fixing the issue she noticed one of the assistant Joanna and the front receptionist laughing. Very wrong and unprofessional. She told me she will call me after her hair appointment . She called me maybe 30 minutes later and as I picked up I can hear my mom trying to express her concerns To staff that she was not happy with Yzma and quality of her work. I can also hear hear Yzma arguing and yelling in the background. I was speechless. I can hear Yzma yelling in the back and they called the police on my hair because my mom obviously didn't want to pay for the work Because she wasn't going to pay $216 for something she wasn't happy with. I mean who would? Let's be real here. The police came and told my mom that in the state of Texas you have to pay. What is funny that even the police said he wouldn't pay either if that happened to him but unfortunately she had to pay. He mentioned that this is not the first time they get call from this salon. Says a lot right! I called the other salon to talk to Rich The owner. Oh my god! I am beyond in shock! So he was not there and I asked if he can reach out to me . NO call back nothing At all. My father reached out either way on the behalf of my mom. Rich already made his decision and blamed it on my mom. He stated since he had all of these wonderful reviews it doesn't matter. He didn't want hear about the situation and he hung up on my father. Really ? What kind of owner is this? This is so unprofessional!!!! Other salons I know the owners wouldn't be so arrogant about his reviews and would try to fix the issue in some say and at least hear someone out. it's not okay treat customers like that and let your staff get away with this. Very disappointed with you Rich and Staff in Melissa. I will let my friends know about this location and to stay away. I will also post this here and the McKinney review in Yelp. The hair stylist forgot to cut the front area, bangs and face frame. Next time they charged the same amount for just shampoo blow dry as haircut. Most importantly they are pretty disrepectful towards customers. They were making bad jokes on customers around. I will not be going back due to this reason. read more

this was by far the worst salon experience I've ever had. I was gifted the hair appointment for my birthday and was recommended to go there by a few of my friends. as I wait in the salon chair for about 20 minutes. the stylist who was going to be doing my hair had approached me very unfriendly with no "hello!" "how are you"started playing around with my hair, then made a comment about my hair and said "is this your hair..""what happened to it?" I have never met this woman in my life. nor have I ever gotten my hair done by her. which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I did bleach my hair from time to time but overall my roots were grown out and I wasn't looking to bleach it again. I didn't have time to get ready that morning as I was running late to the appointment because for the life of me I could not find this address, which they had given me. after the awkward encounter that I had, I told the stylist that I wanted dark brown hair that was similar to the color of my roots (which is brown). tell me why when the appointment is over, I leave with the darkest shade of jet black hair... I asked for a refund which I don't ever do because I'm not a karen but I was clear about what I wanted and was disappointed. but I came back a few days later for a redo and they had given me the same stylist that did my hair wrong the first time and had made rude comments which was odd. I could tell that she did not want to do my hair again and was even more rude the second time around. thankfully, I left the salon with the hair color that should've been done right the first time. as I walked out the door I noticed that a few stylists along with the one who did my hair laughed and rolled their eyes at me while I waved goodbye and thanked them for giving me a refund. however this is just my experience, which I hope doesn't happened to anybody else. read more

Having consultation with RICH, spending 3:00 hours with JUICY, paying $170 for my hair balayage. After 4 days coming back to fix the root at least, they ask $60 for root colour or $180 for another balayage. SOOOOO disappointed with their work and behaviour. Before I went in I checked to see if they had a stylist familiar with cutting and styling mixed hair. I have long curly hair and do not get wet cuts, I also told them my hair was very long and thick beforehand. They said they did so I booked an appointment for a trim. I asked for long layers since my hair is super thick when I wear it curly. They seemed annoyed when it was taking a long time to blow dry it and they actually had 2 people work on drying it when my regular hairdresser takes about an hour for everything (she unfortunately wasn't available and I really needed a trim. Lesson learned) Even though I asked for long layers I ended up with a blunt cut and more hair trimmed off than I'd like. Ok so not great but I figured after I would probably just go back to my regular gal. Unfortunately I had recommend my sister to this place and she ended up going in for color only since their Instagram has some nice pictures and a friend of mine had received a great color job. The owner made constant snarky comments about other customers in front of her and about her curly hair as well, overcharged her, and her color was not done well. Streaky chunky highlights by the stylist when asked for balayage. The owner Rich even had the gall to say "I hope you don't have a sister with the same hair" when it was taking them longer to style even though she told them upfront what kind of hair she had! I was so embarrassed to have recommend this place to someone else. Don't go if you have super thick curly hair or mixed hair. read more

I received a balayage with a cut (first time doing this type of style) and I can't believe how wonderful it turned out. Totally changed my hair and I love it. I went in to get a partial highlight and asked for them to please not overlap the bleach. I brought my husband with me and he mentioned that she was bleaching over my already bleached hair. This causes so much damage. I can understand a little overlap, but re-bleaching over and over the same price of hair is going to cause damage 100%. Little end pieces fell out, as expected. I called today to ask the owner if anyone would just do what I really needed, just the root, because I know my own hair. Just don't overlap the bleach. He said no and that he's not comfortable with just doing the roots. It's his salon that did my hair last and told me they would do only the roots last time. It would be so nice to have blond hair without so much damage. I just moved here and really need someone to care a little. I'm willing to pay more for less damage. I've never had this problem before. I was recently at 209 salon and my stylist did a fabulous job! She listened, and gave me a great recommendation. My hair turned out beautiful! The staff was very friendly from the moment I walked in. I'm giving the salon a 3 because the salon was old and dirty, or just looked like it hadn't been taken care of. The sofa up front was really dirty, and the view of the reception area from the sofa was not a good view. A bunch of stuff just stuffed in the corner, disorganized and dirty. And even the clipboard that was given to me was broken and dirty. "Everything speaks!" For some reason the feeling I got while there was like I was at a salon my mom went to in the 70s. Not decor-wise, just cleanliness wise. It's almost like you should do a hair salon version of Restaurant Impossible. Take everything out of the salon, give it a good deep cleaning, re-paint, re-organize, update the furniture and salon chairs and workstations... or, move to a newer cleaner space. I really think if you did this, your business would see a huge spike in new customers. When going to a salon, I not only want great hair service...I also place a big emphasis on the experience (customer service, cleanliness, "newness"...).. EVERYTHING SPEAKS!!! I went in June to get my hair done, while initially, the girl I spoke with was super sweet, she was not when she was doing my hair. My hair did not look much like the picture, it was far too light but I was too exhausted of sitting in the chair to complain. On top of that, when she was washing my hair, her and her coworker laughed while brushing it out and compared it to a mop. If you're a POC i totally recommend visiting a more friendly salon. I'm not sure if they don't know how to work with hair that is not from a caucasian person, but the comments were so unnecessary and really ruined the whole, getting my hair done experience. read more

Owner is so stupid. I am going in for a second appointment because the first incompetent hair dresser gave me an UNEVEN cut. I decided to tell the owner what happened and wanted someone different. He was RUDE on the phone & told me to come at 9. I arrived at 9 then he said my appointment was at 10. I was frustrated, but I waited until 10 (even though he stated on the phone it was at 9). Then I received a text message that said my appointment was originally at 9. I am livid! This owner is dumb, rude & disgusting. Do NOT come here!! I will NEVER go to this salon again! It's absolutely not worth the ridiculously exorbitant prices or the sloppy job of cutting and hi-lighting the black girl did on my hair!! I got home and couldn't feel where she cut my hair. After running my fingers through it, I could feel the damaged ends everywhere! After she finished with foils, which were painful as she pulled my hair, she mixed another totally different color and globbed it between the foils on my bangs and a my face. I didn't know why she did that, which wasn't what I asked for or wanted! The next day I styled my hair and realized I had four different colors, all uneven where she used three different colors globbed on my bangs, top of head and around my face!! It looked horrid and I was extremely embarrassed, not to mention livid I paid $350 for services with a hideous result! I have a good friend who's hair color was completely different than she explained to her stylist. She was charged 550!! She called the owner and he asked her to come back and would fix it. They didn't and had they had the selfish audacity to ask for $150 because while the stylist was correcting her mistake, she lost a customer that she would've made more money!! Greedy beoch! Her hair wasn't corrected. She finally went to Walmart and bought hair color! I complimented how good she looked. Then she told me what y'all did to her, charging her $700 between both visits! Shame on you all!!! She is an older woman with not much money!! TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS - If you want to throw away your hard earned money for a horrible, overly priced experience with your hair disastrous, be my guest!
