So this will be my first of several reviews for Dr. Ace and his team at Jovan Prosthodontics. I am having 30-year-old​ dental implants removed and replaced which you can imagine is not easily done. I lost my two front teeth back in college and received my implants in 1986. I had no problems until last year when my implants started giving me problems. I stopped smiling widely and became very self-conscious about my looks. I went to Dr. Ace for my temporary replacement teeth while I am getting my implants fixed. I was not excited about this at all; in fact, I was incredibly nervous and really felt uncomfortable about the whole thing. That changed once I met the team of professionals at Jovan Prosthodontics. My first appointment was to evaluate my situation and determine a course of treatment. Just so you know, you WILL have your picture taken. I finally saw exactly what my implants looked like up close and that helped me to understand WHY I needed to fix the problem beyond just health reasons. During this initial evaluation exam, Dr. Ace made sure to show me my different options for my temporary replacements. He patiently (i.e. actually spent time with me and didn't rush in and out) going over the materials for each option and how it would look and work with my situation. His team also discussed the logistics of cost for each procedure since this was not going to be covered by my dental insurance, and I would be covering it myself. Yes they are expensive but I have never seen a dentists office so complete and with up to date technology. I am a baby when it comes to dentists, traumatized young. Dr. Ace and staff made me feel comfortable. I've been to dentists that saw me as a number, treated me like I was on a conveyor belt, treated me like I was just a wallet but here Dr. Ace and his staff spent real time with me. Explaining everything in great detail. I have a tooth that broke and the crown with it. It is infected. I came to them to get a second opinion and I got such a detailed explanation and information about a nerve the other Doctors would have ignored or not seen because they didn't have the technology and if they hit that nerve it could have caused damage to my face. Thank god Dr. Ace saw it and showed me. So now its time. I scheduled the procedure! I will write later how it turns out but right now color me impressed. read more

Somewhat of a gripe today. Got a full mouth restoration 3 years ago that I am more than elated about and they did a fantastic job. This weekend one of my crowns inexplicably came off. It happens and it's a very short tooth. Dr said nobody did anything wrong, like I said it happens. I called them and got in to get it glued back on. The gripe is, after spending an enormous amount of money for a full mouth restoration I would not expect to have to pay to have one crown that failed glued back on. I went down a dark road this past year, having allowed an inexperienced general dentist to extract teeth, place implants, and perform other procedures in which he lacked training and experience. After nine months of expensive, painful, and frustrating treatment, I went from needing a few lower implants to having almost no teeth, and bone that wouldn't even hold dental implants. I'm not even 50, but found myself wearing a removable denture because my mouth was pretty much decimated, and the previous provider couldn't turn back the clock and repair the damage. As grace would have it, I landed in the office of a very competent oral surgeon (Dr. Jeremy Leland) who is rebuilding my weakened jaw and will be placing new implants after the sites heal. This surgeon referred me to a couple of prosthodontists, and I chose Dr. (Ace) Jovanovski for the "above ground teeth" part of my future dental implants. Dr. Ace and Dr. Leland met a couple of times to strategize about reconstruction and implant placement, and really worked together as a team to tailor a plan that would work best for me. Dr. Ace is beyond competent in his field of prosthodontics--his is an approach of balance and artistry, with a production lab for dental prostheses right there on site. His office literally lights up with happy, caring staff, and you can really tell that he loves his work and his interactions with patients. He is also incredibly communicative, informative, kind, and comforting; these are welcome qualities for a patient who has been somewhat traumatized by previous experience. With Dr. Ace's help, in a few months, I know will be able to confidently smile, chew, and laugh again--I am no longer worrying about saving my mouth. While I pray that no one else experiences a journey like mine, know that you can find a happy ending through the excellent care of Dr. Ace. read more

Dr. Ace and his staff are the most competent and courteous team of professionals I have ever encountered in the medical/health space. No one likes going in for dental work, but the team at Jovan makes the experience surprisingly enjoyable. I had a very positive experience! Dr. Ace and staff were more than accommodating, especially for a new patient with an "emergency" (lost crown). He took care of the crown and I was able to schedule another appointment to address some other issues. The office was welcoming. I went to this "dentist" a few months ago because the one I had at the time had filled 2 small cavities and messed up my bite. She attempted to fix her mistake a half dozen times. Finally, she told me to go to this guy because she did not know how to fix her poor dentistry. I live an 1 1/2 hours away from Round Rock and went to this "dentist" 3 different times, which basically ended up being 3 days with the drive back and forth and the long wait at his office. This guy loves talking about himself. As I mentioned, I only went their 3 times but I heard him tell the same story about himself, 4 times. The way he talks, I think he believes he is the best dentist in the country. In my experience, I found him to be one of the worst, right up their with the one who messed up my bite in the first place. My first visit he spent 45 minutes talking about himself and how he has patients that drive from other states, because no one can do the work he does. By the way, that same appointment, after telling me all his stories, he spent 5 minutes actually doing anything to fix my bite. The second and third visits were just more of the same nightmare. After 3 visits and 3 days I'll never get back, I realized this "dentist" had perhaps less of clue of what he was doing than I did. I only wish I were a younger man because I would definitely go to dental school. What a racket, is their any wonder why dentists have such horrible reputations. I only wish this website would allow you to give an honest star rating, if so, based on my experience he would be in the negative. When I was first referred to Dr. Ace in 2010, my mouth was in horrible shape. After decades of grinding, most of my enamel was gone and I was spending a lot of time and money with various dental specialists just to address the symptoms, while things continued to deteriorate. Dr. Ace was the first one to truly dig into the "root" of the issues and quickly developed a long term mouth reconstruction plan that involved his collaboration with other local specialists to ensure the best outcome. Best cleaning i've ever had and I'll be on be on their every 6 months plan. Costs less than dental insurance. I am beyond shocked that anyone could give less than 5 stars. Granted, I am halfway through a months long process, so will update accordingly. I can't say enough about this practice. I had an awful, negligent, traumatic experience with another provider, and it was serendipity that a friend recommended Dr. Ace. He immediately identified the most pressing issue, explained the recommended treatment plan clearly, and just generally seemed light years more knowledgeable about complicated dental issues than any other dr. I have seen. The in office diagnostic technology is top notch, and would have helped avoid the prior catastrophe I endured. Not only that, but he uses stem cells to help the healing process along. The entire staff from front office Mikayla, the treatment coordinator Brandi, and Melanie his assistant are all extremely competent and helpful. I ended up having a concern after my procedure, and Dr. Ace himself returned my call on a Sunday, and then squeezed me in to be seen the next morning. I felt bad being high-maintenance, but no one in the office seemed put out at all, and made my peace of mind their priority. I also plan to see his wife, who is an orthodontist in the adjacent office, to correct sloppy work of another provider. I do not write a lot of reviews, but facing expensive and complicated dental work can be stressful. I hope this helps point someone in the right direction. read more

This business is definitely below standard. I had braces done on two of my children, and had to have redone for both thru a different dentistry practice, after we moved. As well, after we paid our bill as agreed, and they collected from the insurance, this business added an additional balance without any prior notice or agreement, and then sent to collections. I only discovered this after reviewing credit. I never did my own dental work here after I completed the so called free cleaning and assessment they offered. This was actually only an assessment and no cleaning. Then they quoted me $3k+ in dental work that I needed...and I eventually got it done for just under $1k. This business is less than reputable. I see this review as a bit of a public service. We denture wearers need to help each other because there are some really bad practitioners out there. People have become much too gullible when they are being sold by someone with a "Dr." in front of their name. You won't see many reviews from denture wearers. I get it, there's a social stigma attached. One that is definitely NOT deserved. 25% of people over the age of 60 no longer have any natural teeth at all and 56% have some form of partial replacement. It's way more common than people realize. Part of the stigma comes from folks getting really really bad dentures from dentists who either don't know how to make them or don't care. That being said, full disclosure, I did NOT get any work done by Dr. Ace. I went in for a consultation for getting a new set of complete dentures. Now, understand, I'm a 30+ year denture wearer so there was NO medical procedure required for what I want/need. It is quite possible that, were real prosthodontic reconstructive work needed, Dr. Ace might be a capable doctor. I cannot speak to that, but after what I experienced, I won't be finding out. Frankly, I was first shocked and then appalled by what I experienced. Shocked: Because he made statements of fact and professional assertions that I know are not true. I'm sure most patients do not have as complete an understanding of the entire denture process as I. But this is a case of clearly taking advantage of patient ignorance. Appalled: His pricing was almost 3 times the national average and over 3 times what I paid at another dentist for exactly what I wanted and fantastic teeth. We are talking THOUSANDS of dollars in difference. Again, no medical procedures were necessary that might have added costs. The teeth I have from a different dentist are the best I've had in 30 years hands down. At 1/3 the cost of Dr. Ace. The thing that blew me away completely was the 10x upcharge for higher quality teeth than his standard teeth. Yes, you read that right... TEN TIMES the actual cost of the teeth was what he wanted to charge. For doing what? For opening one package instead of another. That's it. NO other effort is required to use one model of teeth over another. In fact, another dentist down the road quoted a price. When I asked about using the higher quality teeth, he said it didn't matter to his price as the difference was negligible. True story, NO upcharge for different model teeth. Honestly, I expect anywhere from $50 to $200 upcharge from most dentists and consider that normal, dentistry is a business after all. End of story, it is simply NOT possible for Dr. Ace to add so much value to a standard set of dentures as to justify his prices. Scientific impossibility. One last topic to touch, because it would take pages to go into real detail. But, implant supported dentures (often called All-on-4) are not what they are sold to be. Do your research. I did and I have no plans to ever go that route. From my point of view, this is just a solution in search of profits. A quality set of dentures is the answer for the vast majority of folks. Price the two and you'll immediately see what I mean. Implants are the gift that keeps on giving... for the dentist. In my opinion the risks, costs and hassle associated are just not worth it. Dr. Ace is an amazing craftsman. I broke a tooth after a bad filling from a regular dentist only 5 years ago. Rather than doing a crown which would have resulted in more destruction of my natural teeth, he opted for an inlay which is a tiny porcelain piece that gets bonded to the defect. He took lots of pictures and used models to show me why the inlay was the best option for me. He has a great bedside manner and was very gentle with me. He appealed the insurance company's decision when they stiffed me. He is now doing my cleanings so we can prevent future problems with bad dentists. Great experience from start to finish! read more

Wonderful office! On two occasions they were able to an emergency repair on my dental bridge. They have their own in-house lab and technician in Omar, who does a great job, so they can often repair dental apparatus more quickly on-site.
