Ever since those ads for Skechers slip on shoes started showing up on TV, I found myself wanting to…read moretry them on to see what they were like. Also, since we'll be traveling soon, I liked the idea of shoes that were easy to put on and take off when going through TSA security. My husband wasn't quite on board but he did agree to go with me and take a look at them. When we entered the store, we noticed that this was all self-serve. I liked that---much easier and faster than having an employee bring out the shoes. The women's shoes were right by the entrance while the men's shoes were to the left. I immediately saw the ones I wanted! Still, I tried the pair I wanted plus another style 1/2 size larger to see how they fit. And, yes, the shoes I wanted fit just fine. I usually go for boring shoes but...I gave in and got the bright colored ones. My husband tried on a black pair and decided to get that pair. He did agree that they are easy to put on and take off. They were having a sale that day so we saved some money. These shoes aren't cheap---that's for sure. All their shoes are machine washable. They come with washing directions and even say you can throw them in the wash with your clothes. As for me---I think I would wash them separately. You can't put them in the dryer, just air dry. When we went to pay for them, the sales clerk was talking to a man who wondered if he could wear these shoes in the winter. The clerk told him that they aren't meant for winter wear. Nor are they meant for rainy days. So...they do have their limitations. Once home, we both wore them around the apartment. I found them to be very comfortable. My husband said it took him some time to get used to them. So...no regrets buying them. One less hassle going through airport security :)

But when I pulled in here, I wasn't mad. Visiting a mall early in the morning is weird. It is mostly deserted. No stores open. Almost completely void of people except those in here doing their jobs. Kind of gives you the 'Dawn of the Dead' vibe, like you are one of the only survivors left in the world. Odd to say, but almost peaceful. This mall seems to be doing fairly well. I did not see many vacancies. Which is great, and almost always the case in this area. This mall feels vast. The layout feels like you need to know exactly what you are getting in here, or set aside time to allow you to freely wander in here. My stop, to use the facilities, took a bit longer than I expected. I have never been here before, and this was not a good thing. I ended up parking in what I thought was the middle of the mall, however, not knowing where the restrooms were, I ended up walking for a while. What was interesting was when I did finally find the restrooms, if I would have used one of the other entrances nearby, it would have been a much quicker stop. But I wouldn't have had the zombie vibe.

In any…read morecase, I finally decided to take back the reigns of dignity and get myself outside to walk. Bear in mind, I'm not trying to get a job as a swimsuit model - no Trenbolone shoulders or chiseled Instagram abs. I want to take care of the original equipment I was issued: me...and more directly, my knees. I went in my closet and assumed that my Arcteryx hiking boots were a perfect option and set out walking 10-15,000 steps a day, every day...on concrete. For three weeks, it was all No Worries, mate. Then it started to feel like there was someone punching the medial facet of my left knee. I am no physician and I do recall that pain is the body's blinking hazard lights. I talked to some friends that are pretty advanced runners and they mentioned a brand I had never heard of: HOKA Oné Oné (accent added by me so you know the name is not Hoka #1 #1). I knew I had no brand loyalty and I DID want the expertise that comes from a dedicated running shop. I went online and found Potomac River Running. I called their number and spoke with a delightfully helpful associate that said they were still open on that particular Sunday afternoon. I was so pleased with my phone experience, I drove from the Bethesda area all the way over to Leesburg. The shop was nestled among a pleasant variety of local chain stores and sole proprietorships. I was greeted promptly and soon I found myself working with the young lady I had spoken to earlier on the phone. We assessed my proper shoe sizing with a nifty pressure sensitive electronic device and then proceeded to capture and analyze my gait. She showed me on an iPad where my heels were striking and the position of my lower leg in relation to the ground. I tried on several pairs of shoes from a variety of makers. The shoes I kept coming back to were the HOKAs. I am incredibly pleased with the shoes and certainly with the friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. I love writing 5 star reviews because I am excited for all of you to frequent these wonderful stores. I will definitely return when I need to replace this pair and I humbly offer you do your feet a favor and stop by yourself. Sneaker well, my friends.

I Did not feel welcomed and did not receive proper assistance. Poor customer service from the manager on dutie especially named "Katie" (store location #394). The manager was eating and having what her cell phone screen read as a 1hour and 4 min cellphone conversation with " sis" instead of properly assisting customers. I have never witnessed a manager at any place that I have ever been in such attire: flip flops, leggings, and a t-shirt no name tag displayed. The manager refused to sale me the last pair of new balance sneakers that were on display. I ended up going to Footlocker within the mall experiencing great customer service and being sold the last new balance shoe they also had in stock. This is the worst foot action (location #394) I have ever visited. I also reported the incident to the supervisor and hope to hear from them soon with some sort of solution.
