This was my first impression of Journey Ramen, and unfortunately it wasn't a good one. A few friends had recommended this place, so we were excited to try it despite being told upfront there would be a 30 minute to 1 hour wait due to the kitchen being backed up. That was completely fine with us. What wasn't fine was the way the situation was handled. When I told the hostess that we were willing to wait and asked to be seated, she suggested that we leave instead and said she would come back with the time frame and "hopefully we'll be available." This was especially frustrating considering there were open tables and seats visible, it was cold outside, and we were traveling with two toddlers. We also don't live in the area, so leaving and "hoping" to return wasn't a realistic option. If the kitchen was backed up, that's understandable -- but the lack of accommodation, empathy, or even basic courtesy made us feel unwelcome. First impressions matter, and this experience felt less like managing a wait and more like being brushed off. I can't speak to the food because we never got the chance to try it, but based on customer service alone, I wouldn't recommend this place -- especially to families or out-of-town visitors. read more

Had I been writing this review based on my first visit this place would have gotten a 4/5 star review, but we decided to go back to this spot because we remember it being really good our last visit and service was pleasant. This go round that service was not so pleasant so we left. We came in around 1:10-1:15 and it wasn't busy at all so we were seated right away. The waiter brought us the menus and since we were at such a small table we wanted to just order our appetizers then order our ramen once our apps came out which we didn't think would be an issue. I believe the guy taking our order was the owner but I'm not 100% certain. Once we mentioned ordering only appetizers at that moment he then said that he was going to take our menus and we were confused because we stated that we weren't done ordering. We just wanted to wait to order. He then mentions something about them closing soon which on Google we seen that they have that they close at 3pm and it's 1:15pm so we didn't see the issue. After we mentioned again about the table being small and not wanting to order everything at once because restaurants do that thing where they like to bring EVERYTHING at one time and we didn't want that to happen especially having that small table. After expressing those concerns he then said "well I've only been doing this for 40 years" in a very unsettling tone which was uncalled for in my opinion. It's not what you say it's how you say it and right after those remarks we decided not to spend our hard earned money at this establishment EVER again. I don't care how good we thought it was before. That attitude was unwarranted and I refuse to put up with it when I'm supporting any business. read more

The food was amazing and such a unique cool little vibe in the restaurant. We got there just in time before our receipt got full on a Friday night. We saw a lot of people order the fries however we won't get the bang bang shrimp and they were fantastic. They do have some things to purchase like cool drinks, teas, candy, gifts etc.. Just had an excellent bowl of ramen here. Ramen done right. Salty, flavorful broth chewy noodles, tender pork, and a perfectly done soft boiled marinated egg. Looks like the folks who were at "Journey east" in Mandeville have moved. A smaller location it was busy at 1 pm on a Saturday which was good to see. Service was less than stellar but nothing to complain about. A cozier space that was reminiscent of the little ramen shops I visited when I was in Japan. read more

Atmosphere is very cultured. A robot would have been better services, no personality not very polite and did not know the menu except for what they did not have. This ramen is legit, I am a huge fan of ramen and have tried a lot of different restaurants around the country. This one ranks up there in the top, and definitely the top ramen shop in Louisiana I have tried. My wife and I both tried the Tonkotsu (Goku), and loved it. The broth is excellent, the noodles were cooked perfectly, the soft boiled egg was marinated to perfection and cooked to the right level. The pork belly was fantastic and definitely worth the extra $1.50. The price point was right on par for what you would expect for a quality bowl of ramen, with all the fixings in it I might venture to say a good price. For parents out there, my two kids loved the kid ramen with pork broth. Will be coming back for more and I can't wait to try their Bao when we can make it on a Saturday. read more

Went to Journey today for the first time and DANG the food is so good. Ordered some spicy chicken ramen and my partner got a more mild version of the same. The bbq dumpling app and the lettuce wrap were also amazing! Not a single complaint about the food and our waiter was super awesome. Gotta say though... the behavior of the manager (he might be the owner too idk) was so insanely disrespectful towards his staff. The way he speaks to them is borderline dehumanizing and I would personally never work for someone who would speak to other people like this. If you're reading this, manager/owner: the customers can hear you when you are acting like a jerk towards your staff and it is super off-putting. Im not going to lie i was a bit nervous trying this place out after reading some of the reviews. I can insure you that those reviews are very biased towards the food and restaurant in my opinion. I understand the price point is a little bit pricey but due to inflation i can understand. Seen a few reviews on here about the portions. I can say i was pretty shocked at how much ramen i got i ate on 1 bowl for 2 days it was very filling. The service is great i seen that was another complaint people were satiating the service is poor. From my experience the service was great i was greeted at the door the man behind the counter help me out alot picking out some ramen for my dad. They also gave me a punch card to get free ramen. My dad enjoyed his bowl of ramen he said it was very flavorful and i can agree with the bowl i had . I had the gohan beast and i got my dad the sauske i tried both and they were very delicious. The environment in the restaurant is very chill such a vibe they had dragon ball z playing on the tvs and the decorations are a 10/10 in there. I highly recommend giving it a chance.
