Amazing tasting food by chef. No nonsense here. Limited area to eat but had counter and tables too. Not cheap but good Disappointed no bao on weekdays Corner store in strip mall Server was questionable as to whether he was rude or just a cultural thing happening

    Bang Bang Shrimp

Everything tasted delicious, can't complain there! Portions are small and not very cheap. It was $150 for 4 people. Drinks are self serve. Restaurant is not very big inside, seating is limited. They do have some things to purchase like cool drinks, teas, candy, gifts etc.. Couldn't understand the waiter at all but the owner (I think he was the owner) kept coming by to check on us and would repeat things so we understood.

New Ramen restaurant in Covington Journey Ramen Soup : 9/10 Noodles: 9/10 Pork: 7/10 Price: $$/$$$ Overall: 8.5/10 Comment: soup is great; noodles is hard enough; pork is okay, not enough fat part in pork, a little too hard for me,pork belly(+$1.5); credit card will have extra service fee,; overall is pretty good, it is the best reman I had in Covington area

    The goku! Excellent

Just had an excellent bowl of ramen here. Ramen done right. Salty, flavorful broth chewy noodles, tender pork, and a perfectly done soft boiled marinated egg. Looks like the folks who were at "Journey east" in Mandeville have moved. A smaller location it was busy at 1 pm on a Saturday which was good to see. Service was less than stellar but nothing to complain about. A cozier space that was reminiscent of the little ramen shops I visited when I was in Japan.

    Dumpling

Holy over priced. Spent 50$ left hungry. Portions are small. Dumplings out of a box. Won't be back lol. Beef & rice was good- again small portions for the price

    Kakashi Vegetarian-broth

SAVE YOUR MONEY- invest in another small business. I am big on investing in small businesses however $16 as describe "katashi vegetarian noodle bowl" there was no vegetable dumpling, zero broccoli 1 piece of tofu cut in 1/2, 1 water chestnut. The broth was below the half mark. What did I purchase? Give your money to people and business owners who actually care.

The location is fun and creative (food arriving by dumbwaiter never gets old), but the lack of tables makes it tricky if you're planning on more than a quick bite. The menu itself is wickedly tempting, and the flavors are there--the wings especially were excellent. Easily some of the best chicken I've had in the city. My only real issue was the salt. And not the soy sauce or seasoning kind you'd expect with dim sum--just straightforward table salt. We ordered four dishes, and I was glad I saved the wings for last since they were the least salty. By the time I circled back through the other plates, all I could taste was salt, which sadly masked what were otherwise really well-balanced, flavorful dishes (the Dan Dan dumplings in particular had great flavor underneath it all). Overall: clever concept, fun atmosphere, tasty food--but dialing back the salt would take it from good to outstanding. Solid 3/5.

I love that he has found a consistent location because it makes it easier to get my fix. I always order the dumplings and rangoons as staples but everything else is always so flavorful, unique and filling as well. Rather than pursuing a burger, I decided to try this well regarded Chinese restaurant across the street from my hotel. This review is based on one item I got for takeout: Szechuan Beef. I am never one to equate quantity with quality. I'm also not well-versed in authentic Chinese. I'm mostly familiar with American Chinese. I ordered Szechuan beef expecting a dry stir fry of beef strips tossed with dried Szechuan peppers. Instead I got a 1 quart container with a zesty, moderately spicy broth loaded with tender strips of melt-in-your-mouth beef. This was pure heaven, and was an explosion of tangy flavor. The quart could've easily served a family of 4. That would just require another side of rice. This was just outstanding! The restaurant was compact yet inviting and service was great. I placed my takeout order on site at the counter, but they have table service.

I've eaten here before and the food is decent, which makes this experience even more disappointing…read more I ordered a dish with shrimp and simply asked to substitute broccoli for the rice. When the bill arrived, I noticed I had been charged extra for the broccoli and also charged for shrimp--even though shrimp was already the protein included in the menu item I ordered. I politely questioned the charge, and the explanation I received didn't seem to match what was stated on the menu. I then asked to speak with a manager so the issue could be addressed. After quite a bit of discussion in the kitchen, the server returned, but instead of a manager coming out, I was given essentially the same explanation we had already discussed. I calmly explained why the charges didn't make sense and expressed that I was unhappy with how the situation was being handled. Unfortunately, there seemed to be little interest in resolving the concern or retaining my business. The food is fine, but my advice is to carefully review your bill before paying. Based on my experience, management does not appear particularly concerned when customers raise billing issues.

There are also several house Asian fried rice, chow mein, and Szechuan dishes. We had the Red Oil Wantons appetizer and the Pork Bao and the Shrimp Xiao Long Bao. One note before the food review. The table was sticky. Pardon the pun, but I'm a stickler for clean tables and floors. My rule of thumb is if a restaurant is willing to have a not so nice dining area, imagine what the kitchen is like. Everything looked clean, except the tactile table. The did clean again upon request. Very friendly staff. The Red Oil Wonton were delicious. Well spiced with only what can described as a tiny meatball inside the soft wanton. The stuffed wanton are worth a trip back. Xiao Long Bao is a filled dumpling with soup in it. You put the dumpling in a spoon, take a small bite or poke it with a chopstick, then eat. The broth on the bao was great. Very flavorful as you "popped" the bao and drank it (they supply a big spoon). Other than the logistical challenge of using chopsticks and a large spoon, very tasty broth and stuffing. Special mention for the shrimp broth. Unusual taste. Some in Louisiana may think it's a bit "off" but I really didn't think so. It reminded me of those little dry shrimp they used to sell next to the cash registers at grocers, lol. Just a different shrimp taste. Overall, worth a return trip. Or a visit for something different. On Siegan Lane. $$
