Breakfast Burger $11 + Bacon $2 IG: @fiveftfoodie

YUM! I won an Instagram contest for a free sandwich, so my parents and I made the trip to the Kailua Town Farmers Market to redeem it. The workers were so outgoing and genuinely seemed like they loved doing what they do, and treated all the customers like friends. I got the Breakfast Burger ($11) which is their Lava Rock Brioche Bun, a local grassfed beef patty from Forage Hawaii (also has a stall at the farmer's market!), havarti cheese, pickles, red chili aioli, maple bacon jam, and a local egg sunnyside up. I also added bacon to mine ($2). We also got the Mango Ginger Beer $6, which was super duper refreshing, and had a sharp (but not harsh!) ginger taste. The brioche bun was SO delicious. 40% of my judgement of a good burger comes from the bun, and this passed my test. It was a soft, buttery brioche with herbs brushed on (or baked on?) which gave it a great flavor. The beef patty was delish and not dry like other burgers, the maple onion jam was insanely delicious (a little on the sweet side, from the maple and the sugars from the onion), and everything paired so well with each other. I will say that the burger is a little on the smaller side, but I totally get it, since they source so many of their ingredients locally and it's one heck of a good burger. Definitely gonna be back next time to try their M&J sandwich! they also have secret menu items that only people that follow their IG (@journey.hfc) know about!

Breakfast burger review Ordered this one that farmers market at kaakaako. Very flavorful and lots going on but it works well together. Was kind of suspect of what that egg would do but it definitely added a good creamy flavor. The bad The bun both top and bottom was super soggy. The bottom bun pretty much disappeared because it was so wet. Wish the bun held up a little better. Overall a good burger to try. But if you are craving a burger in the area, go to chubbies right down the street.

The ordering counter and cashier is right as you enter along with thr pastry counter. Same deals with thr kapolei location you order and find your own table and put number so they can find you when your order is up. Inside is airconditioned with around maybe 10 tables and chairs some seat 2 others eat 4 and they also have outside patio seating back and front. The parking can be challenging having maybe 10 -12 spots in their lot and some street parking . Their Menu is a bit more limited than their other location. Sandwiches.. pizza and other stuff oh and coffee. The only thing that wasmt as good as their kapolei location was they didnt have the thin crispy salty cravable fries they only had small bags of chips available The food is always good and the service was real good. The staff gave you an impression where they really valued their customers with greetings with a smile and happy goodbyes. As always a great experience with a great casual setting..fair pricing (nothing is considered "cheap" nowdays) ..good food and friendly staff.

The brisket melted in your mouth, and the chicken was so juicy with a thin crispy skin. The mac and cheese and corn cheese were both soooo good. The pickled jalapeños on the corn was one of those small detail things that added such a refreshing touch to the meal. I also appreciated how the tater tots stayed crunchy until we finished them off. The baked beans had a smoky flavor that made them distinctly better than others I've tried. Don't forget about their two sauces that come with the meal. They added a brightness and kick that made everything taste even better. The only thing I wasn't super stoked on was surprisingly the grilled cornbread. I had high hopes and it was still good, but it could have had more flavor and been more moist. But even with the okay cornbread I can't wait to go back! I'll probably try the regular instead of the grilled cornbread.

We waited about 10 minutes for a table and 20 minutes for our food, and it was worth it. The only downside was the AC being out, making it a little warm inside. Other than that, the service was fantastic. Our waitress went above and beyond, and I only wish I had gotten her name so I could recognize her. I ordered the two choice plate with brisket, BBQ chicken, BBQ baked beans, and potato mac salad. I was so ready to eat that I forgot to take pictures of everything because it smelled that good. The only photo I managed to get was the banana pudding. The brisket was moist and tender with a beautiful smoke ring, the chicken was flavorful, and the guava chili pepper sauce was incredible with the perfect balance of sweet and spicy (drizzle some into the potato mac). Definitely save room for the banana pudding. Our group spent about $100, and with enough leftovers for about six meals, it was an excellent value. The burnt ends were sold out, so I already have a reason to come back, along with the sausage.

We made the drive from town excited to finally give it a try. The food itself was actually pretty good. The brisket had great flavor, although about half of our pound serving was unfortunately just fat. The ribs were delicious, and the mac and cheese was definitely a standout. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. Our waitress got our order wrong a few times and a waiter that wasn't even helping us (brown hair and a beard) made us feel incredibly uncomfortable throughout our visit. He repeatedly glared at our table, shook his head, and gave us what felt like dirty looks. It created an awkward atmosphere that made it difficult to enjoy our meal. Overall, the service was disappointing from start to finish. Would I recommend it? If you're local to the area, yes--the food is worth trying. However, I'd recommend ordering takeout instead of dining in. We left thinking the meal could have been a much better experience if the service had matched the quality of the food.
