We could still see that the carpet wasn't fully cleaned after the company left. We then re-shampooed our own carpets AFTER Joshua's came in and the water was black. We're quite disappointed in their cleaning job. There wasn't any furniture in the house when they came in, so it's not like they were avoiding anything when cleaning. It could've been the person who came in to operate the machines or the machine itself. Either way, no thanks to another trial run with them. I have lived in my house for 10 years now and this is the first time I have had my carpets upstairs and stairs professionally cleaned (husband usually rents the rug doc and does it himself). Joshua's Carpet Cleaning did an AMAZING job! Given he was a little surprised that my carpets were in pretty decent shape considering he's the first to actually work on them. The owner Joshua is the guy that actually came to my house and did all the work. He gave me a 9-930am show up time frame and was on time. I know other Yelpers indicated that they are usually late but in this business you can't rush and it happens so it didn't bother me if he was going to be late. Anyhow lets get back to the job at hand. I paid only $120 to get 3 rooms, hallway and 16 stairs done. (Are we suppose to give them tip? I have used Joshua's Carpets to clean my floors for the past 3 years- they are wonderful! They originally came in to do a one-time spring cleaning for me and then I saw how great my floors looked when they were done so I had them come every 6 months. I have a Labrador so my carpets need the constant upkeep! When I moved out of my condo about a month ago, Joshua came and did a move out clean on both my carpets and my hardwood floors- and they all shined. He also did a steam clean of my linoleum floors that were total garbage. Even those cleaned up really nicely! They do run late sometimes, and don't always give you a heads up. Just had Joshua's Carpet Cleaning over to my home. Received a coupon in the Val-Pak envelope advertising a variety of offers. I called for the "Large House Special - Only $179.95!" Fine print says "Up to 2,000 square feet". For full disclosure, my home is listed at 2,180 square feet, but because of all the stuff inside, the actual square footage of the carpet to be cleaned is significantly less. The offer is not clear if the size relates to the size of the home or the amount of carpet to be cleaned. I assumed the latter since pricing should be tied to the amount of work that actually needs to be done. Over the phone, the owner, Joshua, was very pleasant and spent more time than average asking questions about the property, all of which I answered clearly to give him a sense of the size of the home. He quoted me $175 based on our discussion which I expected him to honor. On the day of the cleaning, Joshua called to say that they were running late and the arrival time would be noon. His worker actually showed up at 12:40 - nearly two hours late. Strike one. After I walked the worker through the home, he called Joshua to indicate our house was three levels. The first "level" only consists of a formal living area that might be 200 sq ft of carpet. Maybe. Regardless, this now meant that the price had to be raised to $240 (over a 40% increase) due to the presence of this added "level", and at that price I was even getting a break because the "normal" price was $290. Strike two. Part of our carpet area borders some tile, and the detergent pre-treat when applied ends up covering part of the tile as well. Soap + smooth surface = trouble, so I expected that stuff to be wiped up before the worker left. Was not done. In addition, carpet is pretty damp - more so than I can remember with other carpet cleaners - and I am concerned about how long this is going to take to dry out. Strike three. While the owner and worker were pleasant, you can't pull these kinds of games when it comes to service and pricing. Provide a window and price that you can honor - if you fail to ask the right questions on the initial consultation, that is your fault and you should eat the error. Too may other providers out there to recommend Josjua's Carpet Cleaning. These guys are a one and done with me. read more
