If there was a choice of NO STARS, I would have chosen it. Now I know why you can get an appointment at any time with Dr. Weng. I had to switch primary doctors because all my specialists were not approved thru my previous primary doctor's group. He was the only one in my area that I could get an appointment with that wasn't 3-4 months out. To make a long story short, I called the office to have my prescriptions refilled about 3-4 weeks ago right after my initial consultation. Found out that they sent it to the wrong pharmacy. Called front office and was told (actually talked to Dr. Weng) that they would cancel the order at the wrong pharmacy and resend it to the correct one. I admit that I dropped the ball on following up. I called my pharmacy the day before a trip and was told that it was still in the system under the wrong pharmacy. I called the office the next day, as I was leaving for a trip, and asked them if they could right the wrong so that I can get my refills at my destination. After holding for 20 minutes, I was told that I needed to come in for a follow-up regarding my medication. I was rudely told that they couldn't do anything about my refills until I came in for a follow-up. I told them I was on these medications for ages and to just refill what I needed for my trip and that I would come in for the follow-up when I returned from my trip. Now let me ask you why we're the prescriptions ready for pickup at the wrong pharmacy and why was I just being told that I needed to go in for a follow-up after they already knew about the refills 3-4 weeks ago. Why wasn't the follow-up appointment scheduled right after my initial consultation. After asking these questions, the unprofessional front desk lady told me Dr. Weng no longer wanted me as a patient. I asked for a reason, but she couldn't even answer me because she said she didn't know how to say it in English and with a very rude attitude. read more

I love Dr.Weng! I've been seeing him for .... it must be over 14 years now, since I was a kid and he was my family doctor. Now I'm 26 and he and my dad are really good friends He works so hard for his patients! He often doesn't eat lunch because he's trying to squeeze in patients who might not have had time otherwise to see him. He truly cares about you. Honestly, the front desk isn't great! Back in the day, like ten years ago, he did have a great receptionist / medical assistant and she was super kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. now it is , uh, less so usually. i mean, they do seem knowledgeable but their approach is a bit less kind. It kinda depends but I often do not feel great about the front desk people. It all changes when I get examined though. Dr Weng is really great! he's taken care of inpatient needs and he'll drop by at like 9pm after a long work day to check on you in the hospital. He'll take personal calls on the weekend if I'm super concerned about something, and he just really goes above and beyond in service every time. It makes up for the front office .... read more

Dr. Weng is a very smart and hard working Doctor. My family and I have been with Dr. Weng for a few years now and he has consistently been able to provide the upmost professional care. He can do it all! Eveything from annual check ups, ear aches, the flu to heart issues. He is always available at his office and he does rounds at the hospital. I wonder when he has time to sleep! LOL! In the past few years both my parents have been in and out of the hospital for heart issues. Dr. Weng has always managed to stop by their hospital room and see how they are doing and offer his advice on their care. Dr. Weng is very personable and easy to talk to. He answers all my questions and doesn't make me feel stupid for asking questions. He always explains the medication he prescribes and what they will do to help my situation. He voices his concerns on things I never thought to consider when it comes to my health. Dr. Weng is a well rounded, careing doctor and that is what makes him an excellent primary physician. First off, this isn't a review about Dr. Weng's services. We didn't even get that far. This is about his receptionist and office in general. I spent TWO weeks going through the process of researching Medi-Cal doctors for my boyfriend, literally Googling over 50 doctors in the area via LA Care's website and reading Yelp and Healthgrade reviews. Dr. Weng seemed to be the best. Then I spent another TWO WEEKS going through the process of changing my boyfriend's PCP to Dr. Weng through the LA Care website for Medi-Cal. It was finally approved. Then I called them to schedule an appointment. After telling the lady what insurance we had, her immediate and curt answer was, "NO." No, what, lady?! She said, "We don't accept Medi-Cal." I told her Dr. Weng was approved and assigned as my boyfriend's PCP by LA Care, a STATE-RUN organization, and she said, "We have no control over what they do." WTF kind of answer is that?! After I hung up, I proceeded to Google "Dr. Weng" and "Medi-Cal." ALL THE RESULTS stated that Dr. Weng accepted Medi-Cal. This misinformation is incredibly frustrating and time-consuming for people who are trying to find a decent doctor. Your office should have COMPLETE CONTROL over what kind of information is out there regarding YOUR POLICIES. read more

He also has hospital access to Huntington Memorial and Arcadia Methodist which is extremely important for many patients. The front desk lady is bad. I wasn't even able to meet the doctor. English is bad and temper is bad. A receptionist is all about the first impression of the office and service. My parents turned to Dr. Weng as their primary doctor two years ago because of the recommendation of their friends. Yes, totally agree that he is incredibly knowledgeable and very caring his patients!!! A couple of months ago, my father need to go through a surgery because of the cancer found in the kidney. Dr. Weng help contact the hospital and the surgeon, and got the surgery done in the shortest time! While my father staying in the hospital, Dr. Weng visited him almost everyday. He knows what hes doing. I believe I saw that he has a PhD in pathology which automatically puts him above most Internal Medicine physicians. Have been looking for a MD who is easy to communicate with and office staff who is easy to deal with to get care done right the first time. There was a problem with insurance and the staff helped me take care of it. We were there over an hour trying to make the correct changes. Staff was patient and willing to help. Finally saw Dr Weng. He was patient and listened. Gave us a few suggestions to try and will see him in a month. While waiting for the insurance corrections people were coming in to give the staff "holiday thank you gifts". This shows me that the staff are caring to the patients. This guy is one of the best doctors I've ever known. I work as a clinical quality auditor for the largest medical group on the country, so I know a little something about medicine and quality. I see the way he listens to his patients. He takes his time and never seems to be in a hurry. His staff, except for Shirley, may need a little help with how to run the show, and that's where Shirley comes in. She's a nursing student and knows about health insurance. Sometimes the wait is a little in excess but for the service you get from Dr. Weng, you really can't go wrong. People need to stop being so critical of healthcare and recognize what entails quality and standards of care. Let me tell you, being an RN and all... Never met this doctor but the manager is horrible. Wouldn't even let me see the doctor. I had to argue with her. She was rude and demeaning. She was like I don't care what you want, but no pain meds for you. I wasn't even asking for pain meds and she was like get out I don't want to give you pain meds. Then I said I knew a patient, and she was like maybe let me see him, but she was like we been giving him a ton of pain meds. She was like if you want to be a patient we can't give anymore pain meds. I was like I didn't ask you for any pain meds, nor did I want any. I wanted to cuss her out. I do not recommend anyone to this office, until they fire her. Even after explaining to her my situation, she was like if you become a patient no pain meds. I have heard stories of them giving a lot of pain meds to please patients. People die from it and she gives them like candy to certain patients I've heard. Also she was like we don't take your insurance and then we do. Other bad reviews have noted the same. They do not even know any of the doctors well known around Methodist hospital. None and I mean none! They don't even know the doctors next to them. I never even tried to take any pain meds for ANY of my surgeries. I was even forced by doctors to take pain meds. After talking to my other doctors , they said they were a quack and I deserve better and I have my own problems and I don't need their drama. Dr Weng's receptionist and manager (support staff) is unprofessional, unfriendly, rude and dishonest. They discriminate and won't even take PPO insurance that is Covered California even though the PPO says they are in-network. Must be paid a little less than normal, but it is PPO. Was patient for 10 years and no more that staff is the worst. Good Luck dealing with the stress and unprofessional behavior. read more
